1 PEARSON NEWS / PEARSON-NUUS HOËRSKOOL PEARSON HIGH SCHOOL ISSUE/UITGAWE: 7/ 2015 FROM THE PRINCIPAL/VAN DIE SKOOLHOOF It is vital that learners start preparing for the important mid-year examinations. The timetable is on the D6 Communicator. We urge parents to read all the information on the D6 to avoid unnecessary queries. Our winter uniform necessitates that blazers and ties are worn to and from school. Girls are not to wear make-up with their school uniform and their hair must be tied back if long. The step in the boys hair must not draw undue attention by being overly long. Absenteeism must please be kept to a minimum, as valuable class time is lost and is hardly ever regained. Transport to all major fixtures outside the Port Elizabeth Metropole involve the hiring of big buses and learners have to pay for this transport. To determine the number of buses needed, a survey is done, and even if the learner then decides not to use the bus, he or she will still be responsible for paying the busfare. Parents must please ensure that all busfare is paid as the learners board the bus. I am very proud of the many achievements of all Pearsonites and I want to encourage them to continue to show others the way! CONGRATULATIONS TO / GELUK AAN * Ongie Mali who was awarded a scholarship to attend (a place at) a five-day Advanced High Performance Investec Hockey Academy Course. * Danell Douglas and Lara van Heerden who have been invited to the E.P. Parents, you play a vital role through the support you give your children and your role must never be underestimated. As usual parents were invited to join us for refreshments during the course of the morning in the Netball/Tennis Clubhouse and we want to thank our moms who provided and served the tea/coffee and lunches for the coaches and players. It was wonderful to see our learners support the last game of the day, the Rugby 1 st Team Match, by sitting together on the stands opposite the pavilion and creating a wonderful atmosphere. We thank all our sports teams for a wonderful day and good results against Hudson Park.
