Hello everyone: Oops, I blinked and summer disappeared, but what a wonderful summer we had, no complaints from me. July 6 was our Red, White & Blue dance with DJ s Mike and Joyce, who not only kept the floor full, but kept us amused with their changing hats and wigs. Our Pajama Party was on July 20 at the Complex, with the DJ Duke, Gary Clayton; Gary did a great job as usual. Millie kept the floor filled with enthusiastic dancers at our Hawaiian Hustle on August 3, however, we did make a mess of the old dance Hawaiian Hustle, not a pretty sight. Hot August Nights on August 17, with DJ s Evelyn and Denny, was a blast, with Root Beer Floats served throughout the night. Allen was kind enough to bring along his beautifully restored 1958 Mercedes; photo page 6. International was the theme for our August 31 dance, with DJ s Tina and Jeanette, who really did a great job. The turnout for this dance was amazing, 60+ considering it was a holiday weekend, the Bay Bridge was closed and it was Amy s Wild, Wild West event. Coming up: September 7 is a Western theme dance, Howdy Pardner with DJ s Diana and Tina. Our 26th Birthday Bash is on September 21, with DJ s Mike and Joyce. All members get in for half price, and there will be hors d oeuvres, soda and CAKE. October 19 is Halloween also at The Complex, with DJ s Mike and Joyce. You can see by the photos in this edition, that we ve been having loads of fun at Quicksteppers, with better than average attendance, thanks to our dedicated members and friends. Don t forget New Year s Eve.. Glitz at the Ritz Purple Passion with DJ s Evelyn and Denny. There will be hors d oeuvres, cake, sodas, prizes, surprises and it s BYOB. So come along and spend NYE dancing and socializing with all your favorite friends. Next week Richard and I are off to Pigeon Forge to spend time with Doug and Jackie Miranda.. who knows what they have in store for us this year. As you know, Doug and Jackie have The Grand Majestic Theater there, and are organizers of The Vegas Dance Explosion; this year the expected attendance is 1200 people from all over the world. If you are trying to think of a picturesque, fun place to visit, Tennessee is the state.. so much to see and do, especially in Pigeon Forge, right next door to Gatlinburg, gateway to the Great Smokey Mountains. Doug and Jackie said that a couple more theaters have opened in Pigeon Forge, which means it is becoming more like Branson, only better. Once again Doug and Jackie will be in the Bay Area in January, so get your reservations in for their You Can DANCE 2 on January 11, 2014 at The Complex in Belmont.
