A Note from Anni: Anni Wunderlich President I hope you all survived the heat; fortunately we re having a breather at the moment, but summer is here. May 31 was our What s Your Name?? dance, with DJ s Mike n Joyce who did a GREAT job. Mike taught Michael Barr s dance of the same name and we all enjoyed learning, or renewing our memory of it. Richard and I learned it years ago from the man himself. Mellow Yellow was the theme for our June 7 dance, with the King NEIL Hale; everyone mellowed out in their yellow, and Neil kept the floor filled with a sea of yellow. Everyone seems to enjoy color themes. Our DJ/Teacher Appreciation dance with popular DJ s EVELYN n DENNY was very well attended considering the heat, and we were able to pay tribute to: Evelyn n Denny, Mike n Joyce, John n Gina, Diana Ward, Hedy McAdams, Shirley Cohen, Doris n Carol, Jeanette n Tina, Angela Cheung (I just found out that Angela teaches approx. 200 students in her San Francisco classes) and last, but certainly not least, Cathy Dacumos who has taken over John Bowen s day INSIDE THIS ISSUE 2 Line Dance Lessons & Socials 3 Club News& Places to Dance 4 Articles and Pictures 5 Club Dance Schedule 6 Membership Renewal Form Something else that wouldn t exist without its volunteer board is Country Quicksteppers. We welcomed in the new board, and said goodbye to the members that were leaving; my twin and Vice President, Sara Watson, who stood by me for five years, I will miss her; Betty Ma, our extremely efficient Treasurer, who brought along Mr. Betty (Bill) our smiling cashier; Donna Case and Diana Post, our Membership girls who excelled themselves; thank you, thank you for all your support and dedicated service. Also thank you to my husband Richard, who is always there to lend a hand. Amazing, I discovered a twin cousin, John Swanson, who agreed to take over from Sara; put a wig on his head and we d be, hmmmm, almost identical, at least we re close in age. Jeanette Feinberg decided to join the board once again as Treasurer, and Bernie (Mr. Jeanette) will help behind the desk. Renee & Ted Roehm will be the membership couple, they too have been on the board before; Jan Hanway, Secretary extraordinaire is also returning, and our marvelous Marshals Mike n Jim just couldn t leave thank you all very much. Cathy Dacumos has taken over the Shooter from Joyce, and as I said once before, Cathy is a brave lady as Joyce is a hard act to follow (Joyce, we love you), but as you will see from this publication, Cathy has started out with a BANG. The DJ Duke, GARY Clayton is recovering from knee surgery, and we send our very best wishes. Fourth of July Parade, on July 5. Unfortunately NEIL is unable to make it, so MIKE n JOYCE are stepping in don t forget to wear your RED, WHITE and BLUE and be a Yankee Doodle Dandy. Anni

Meet Your Club Marshalls Mike Shannon & Jim Wicklund We see Mike & Jim at the dances, selling 50/50 tickets, running the drawing, and occasionally telling jokes, but there is more to their job than that. The Marshalls are responsible for the general safety of the members & guests at the dances, as well as for enforcing dance floor etiquette and courteous conduct. They are expected to make sure exits are not blocked, to know where fire alarms and extinguishers are located, and how to contact local police or fire departments in case of emergency. They are also the ones to go to if you have any problems or concerns with fellow dancers. The club wants to maintain a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere for all our members and guests, so if you ever feel that you are being annoyed or harassed by anyone, Mike & Jim are the guys to talk to. It will be their job to resolve the situation discreetly and diplomatically. So remember these guys are important to the smooth running of our dances and do a lot more than just sell tickets.
