Hello everyone: Please note: There is no dance on July 4, but I wish you all a very happy Independence Day. As you know, John Swanson retired from his position as Vice President, but we are very happy to welcome Jim Rose as our new Vice President, and you can read all about him in his biography on page 6. We are still experiencing high attendance at our dances, and I thank you for your support. May 22, Black and White Ball with Mike and Joyce; May 16, Backwards with Millie Dusha, May 30, Flower Power with Jamie Hogan; June 6, Polka Dots with Gary Clayton, and June 20, Sweet Dreams, with our new DJ s Van & Celia. We are so happy that Van & Celia decided to join our DJ family, and I m sure everyone is looking forward to their next dance on October 3. Coming up: July 18, DJ & Teacher Appreciation dance, at The Complex with Mike & Joyce; August 1, Hawaiian Luau, at The Complex, with The DJ Duke, Gary Clayton; August 15, Hot August Nights at Barrett Community Center, with party girl DJ, Jamie Hogan; August 29, International Night at Barrett Community Center, with DJ, Millie Dusha. We will be having a dance on New Year s Eve, so quicksteppers@yahoo.com Website: countryquicksteppers.org please don t make any other plans. As I said in my , we have the J Team, Jane, Jeanette and Jim, hunting for halls, and we do have a couple of possibilities. Our main aim is to find a hall with parking, in a safe area, with easy access to both freeways. I will keep you posted. Doug and Jackie Miranda will be returning to the Bay Area in January for their You Can DANCE 4, so please put that into your memory bank. Further details will be in our next Shooter. Our DJ & Teacher Appreciation dance is on July 18; this enables our members and friends to show their appreciation for all the hard work our DJ s and Teachers do, to keep line dancing alive and well in the Bay Area and elsewhere. So please come along and show your support. Don t forget to renew your membership in the Club with a heart, where we dance for the health of it; the renewal form is on the back page. Hard to believe that we re half way through the year, so remember.. Life is short smile while you still have teeth. 6 NOTICE OF TIME CHANGE FOR SATURDAY DANCES!!!!! Please note the new starting and ending times for our Saturday night dances. New rules from the City of Belmont require us to be completely out of the hall by 10:30 P.M.. In order to have time for the DJ to pack up and for us to clear everything out, we need to end the dances at 10:15. Until further notice all of our dances will begin at 7:15 P.M. and end at 10:15. Meet our new Vice-President Jim Rose Jim was born in Iowa Falls, Iowa. He grew up in Owosso, Michigan, where he attended Owosso High School, and later graduated from Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan. He served in the U. S. Navy from 1955 to Jim came out to California in 1965, lived for some time in Mountain View, and then in Redwood City, where he lives now. Jim has two children, a boy and a girl, and five grandchildren, two girls and three boys. Jim s working life included some time in Graphic Arts, and some time as a Real Estate Broker. After retiring from these careers, he worked in sales in a bike shop. Jim has been line dancing for many years, beginning in He danced regularly, and regularly attended Quicksteppers dances, until He took a break from dancing for a few years, but came back to it in Since his return, he admits to being totally hooked on line dancing, and currently takes classed each week with Michael Barr, Cathy Dacumos, and Hedy McAdams. Jim says dancing is just part of a very active lifestyle. He once crewed on a racing yacht for 3 years, still regularly does long bike rides, and in the winter often spends a few days a week skiing, where he is actively involved with the Carmel Ski Club & Lodge. Jim also loves cars, and spending time following his grandson s sports activities. With all that Jim is involved with, we are fortunate that he is willing to take on the job as Quicksteppers new Vice-President. IT S TIME TO RENEW YOUR MEMBERSHIP!!
