Randy & Sonya Schenk for lodging, food and hospitalities. Transportation: John Marshall, John Melstrom, and Michael Bandoian. Greetings and best wishes were sent from Richard Wells and Suzie Ries, former Trailblazers Board of Directors members and Las Vegas, Nevada residents. We have been missing you two and trust to see you again soon. Take care. A note from Diane Shuey: I have not been at the dances for awhile as on May 9 I fell while on a walk and sustained multiple fractures on my elbow. I am now a bionic woman, for what good it does. Eight pins and a plate keep me together while doing many exercises and physical therapy. Hope to be back dancing soon. Diane Diane, we look forward to your return to dancing and send wishes for a continued, speedy and complete recovery. Frank Lescrinier, in August 2015, completed 30 years of Square Dance calling, and teaching and coaching. Frank is a CALLERLAB Accredited Caller Coach. Frank, our congratulations for this outstanding achievement. Your FrankLy continuous-dedicated effo s to add pa icipants to our community are greatly appreciated.

3 Page 3 Barry Clasper Trailblazers September 2015 Caller It s September and Barry s Back. Hailing from the larger-than-texas Canadian province of Ontario, Barry Clasper once again returns to Southern California to hone our dancing skills. We welcome our good neighbor from the North and know our dancers will be treated to some excellent Square Dance calling. Barry lives in Toronto, Ontario with his wife Pam. They started dancing in 1973, just two weeks after the birth of their youngest son. Barry started calling in 1984 when a local C2 tape group asked for help with some things they couldn't find on teaching tapes. He figured if he was going to write material to help them, he might as well call it. Since then he has expanded in both directions and now calls from Basic through C4. As a dancer, Barry loves choreography that is smooth and flowing yet also provides some mental stimulation and the occasional surprise. When calling, he strives to create this effect through smooth danceable choreography flavored with a bit of unusual positioning to create a dance experience containing both physical and mental elements. Barry changed careers in September He retired from IBM after 30 years and is now a full-time caller and able to travel more than he had in the past. He has called at weekends and conventions in seven Canadian provinces, District of Columbia, and 26 states in the United States, as well as Beijing, the Czech Republic, Denmark, England, Germany, Japan, Sweden and Taipei. Barry is currently a permanent staff caller with AACE (Academy for Advanced and Challenge Enthusiasts) and is a member of CALLERLAB and the Gay Callers Association. Within CALLERLAB he is a member of the Board of Governors, is on the Executive Committee (the five-member committee that provides day-to-day governance of CALLERLAB) and from 2013 through 2015 served as Chairman of the Board. He has written articles for Zip Coder, The Call Sheet and American Square Dance Magazine. April 2004 September 2016, 2017 and 2018 are upcoming B B months.

4 Page 4 Trailblazers Presidents Message Thank you to everyone that attended our August dance with Rob French. Rob was very surprised and happy with the attendance considering many of our members and friends were out of town. The attendance for this particular August weekend was the highest it has been in over three years and especially on Sunday. Overall this year our dance attendance has been up. Your attendance helps our club bring in the best callers available. John Marshall has been working very hard scheduling our caller lineup for 2017 and A few of the upcoming callers haven t called for our club in several years. Thanks John, as always for doing a great job. This month we have a caller that our members always look forward to Barry Clasper. Another dance you won t want to miss. Also we know it s early, but club membership fees for next year will be due soon. Our Treasurers, Barbara Jones and Sam Mehlman, usually start collection for dues at our October dance. So please help them out and pay before the rush. So if you like, feel free to pay for next year at our September Dance, it would be helpful. Over the summer many of our members traveled to several places and attended many dances. Please feel free to share your experiences with us good, funny, and etc. If you like posting stuff and have the time to volunteer, we are looking for a member to set up and run a Trailblazers Facebook page. This would help with better communication for our members and friends who want to know more about our club and its dancers. This would give members a place to post what is happening with them. If you are interested in volunteering to take on this task, please let us know. We hope to see you all this weekend with Barry Clasper calling. It will be another great weekend. See you in a square.
