1 CELEBRATING 16 YEARS OF SINGLES GOLF IN AMERICA Kansas City Chapter - American Singles Golf Association - September 2008 President s Report I keep hearing that the Labor Day weekend marks the unofficial end of summer tell me it isn t so! There are plenty of golfing days left in On our official list, we still have Shirkey s, Eagles Landing, Drumm Farm and Falcon Ridge. You won t want to miss any of them. And look out for a couple of impromptu outings in there as well. Fall golf in Kansas City is the best! Our first monthly meeting at Kansas City Public House on August 21 was a success. The larger venue served our 50+ attendees and four guests very well. Please plan to join us there for our next monthly meeting on Sept 18; 6 p.m. social, 6:30 p.m. meeting. We ll review upcoming golf outings and social events such as the annual banquet and dance at Leawood South Country Club on Saturday, Nov 8. Kudos to Maureen McArdle and her Rally for the Cure committee for another great event at Winterstone on Aug 23. The 1 st Friday in September will be back at the Blue Moose in Prairie Village. The October First Friday will be at Birdies in Overland Park. Please join us for a drink and a bite to eat. Naomi Burwell is getting a group together to see Menopause at Crown Center. Watch for more information to arrive by and contact her if you re interested in tickets. Sandy Kolderup is hosting a Chiefs Watch/Chili Cook-Off on Sunday, October 19 at noon. If you would like to compete in the cook-off, be a judge or simply watch the game contact Sandy at sandyk@ everestkc.net. Our annual year-end banquet is quickly approaching. The location again this year is the beautiful Leawood South Country Club. The date is November 8. The attire is dressy. The event is the best-of-thebest. 2 Kansas City Chapter of the American Singles Golf Association Jim Hamilton Lost Ball Open It took two tries, but the first Jim Hamilton Lost Ball Open finally happened and it was well worth the wait. Its original date, Saturday, August 9, proved to be a wash out because of rain. But thankfully Sycamore Ridge Golf Course in Spring Hill, Kan., was kind enough to reschedule the event for the following Sunday, August 17. And thankfully Larry Maddox was kind enough and patient enough to plan the same event two different times. Thanks, Larry, for putting together a terrific tribute to Jim! 3 Tickled Pink at Winterstone Thank you everyone who helped make this event a huge success. We raised over $1,800. What started out as a rainy day turned into beautiful day to play golf. Thirty-seven golfers played a scramble and competed in putting and chipping contests. After golf we competed in the raffle/auction portion of the day. WINNERS: Everyone who contributed!
