4 Eur Bud Internatinal 2 Intrductin Randm Attacks can be understd as defence against unknwn attacks and is als a cmpetitin frm in martial arts and/r fighting sprts. The Randm Attacks cmpetitin frmat ges back t the essence f self-defence, that is t say: t perfrm an actin in respnse t an unannunced attack. The feeling f panic r fear that is invked by Randm Attacks cmpetitins requires the cntestants t fall back n their natural reflexes that are sharpened by years f training in martial arts and/r fighting sprts. Martial arts and/r fighting sprt practitiners learn t deal with real-life stress situatins that arise when aggressin is encuntered thrugh the Randm Attacks cmpetitin system. This cmpetitin frm is accessible fr all martial arts and/r fighting sprt practitiners that practice self-defence. 4/19 Versin

5 3 Practical infrmatin and rules Eur Bud Internatinal 3.1 Curse f a match There are tw pairs cmpeting against ne anther. Each pair cnsists f ne cmpetitr and ne attacker. The cmpetitr is the persn wh defends and/r frees himself frm the randm attack. The cmpetitrs are the nes being judged. One pair wears red belts, and the ther pair wears white (r blue) belts. The clur f the belt is appinted by the cmpetitin table fficials. Upn the signal f the tatami referee, bth cmpetitrs g t their appinted place n the tatami, greet ne anther, the jury members and their attacker and assume fighting psitin. The attackers stay put at the attacks table. The tw attackers are shwn the same attack at the attacks table by means f a phtgraph r a drawing. Upn the signal f the tatami referee, the attackers assume their starting psitin clse t their partners. Upn the signal f the tatami referee, they each perfrm the designated attack in turn. The tatami referee will decide wh begins: Red r White (r Blue). After the executin f all the designated attacks (Yuth 1 & 2) r after each executin (ther categries), the tatami referee will ask the judgement f the three r five Judges. When bth attackers have executed the attack and/r a judgement has been asked, the tatami referee will send back the attackers t the attacks table where they get t see a phtgraph r drawing f the next attack. Upn the tatami referee signalling Hantei, the three t five Judges will give their judgment by raising a red r white (blue) flag up in the air. The tatami referee signals the winner. 6 Eur Bud Internatinal 3.2 Attacking and defending psture The starting psitin f the attacker is as fllws: Left ft frward. Right hand behind the back. The ther hand in fighting psitin in frnt f the bdy. Eyes frward, facing the cmpetitr s back. The starting psitin f the cmpetitr is as fllws: One ft frward r bth feet shulder width apart. Lking utwards frm the cmpetitin area. The distance between attacker and cmpetitr must be n mre than ne displacement, t assure that the attacker can make physical cntact with the cmpetitr as sn as pssible and/r can reach the cmpetitr with his attacking technique. There must be n physical cntact in the starting psitin. 3.3 The attack Upn the tatami referee s signal f white (blue) r red, the cmpetitr can turn arund, after which the attacker has t engage immediately. If it is nt a grab r hld, the attack must fllw immediately. If it is a grab r hld, the attacker raises bth arms. The cmpetitr will then stand with feet shulder-width apart and bth arms by his sides. The hands f the attacker stay up in the air until the attacker is in psitin t perfrm the cntact attack. There must be physical cntact befre the cmpetitr begins his defence. If it is a grund attack, the attacker will raise ne arm. The cmpetitr will then stand with feet shulder-width apart and bth arms by his sides. The attacker will bring the cmpetitr t the grund with a thrw at his discretin. As sn as the cmpetitr is n the grund, the attacker can engage. 6/19 Versin

7 Eur Bud Internatinal If it is a gun attack, the attacker will raise ne arm, with gun in hand. The cmpetitr will then stand with feet shulder-width apart and bth arms either by his sides r up in the air. The hand hlding the gun will stay up in the air until the attacker is in psitin t perfrm the attack. The attacker is frbidden t cmmunicate in any way with his partner, the cach r spectatrs abut the attack that will fllw. 3.4 Categries Categries fr Eurpean and Wrld Champinships and Internatinal A Turnaments Yuth: up t 15 years ld Fur attacks chsen at randm frm numbers 1 t 20 in sectin 4 Junirs: frm 16 t 21 years ld Any fur randm attacks frm sectin 4 Senirs: frm 22 t 39 years ld Any fur randm attacks frm sectin 4 Masters: frm 40 years ld Fur attacks chsen at randm frm numbers 1 t 35 in sectin Age determinatin If the cmpetitr has reached the minimum age f a certain categry, he is required t fight in that categry. If the cmpetitr reaches the minimum age f a certain categry in the current calendar year, he can chse t fight in this lder categry instead. The cmpetitr is nt allwed t participate in bth categries Classificatin f categries The categries are further subdivided int male and female. At a champinship, the fixed categries as described abve are t be respected. If there are nt enugh entries (fewer than three cntestants per categry), certain 7/19 Versin

Entries fr internatinal champinships need t reach the rganisers ne week befre the beginning f the champinship at the latest. Entries fr a Eurpean r Wrld Champinship are t be sent t the rganisers and t Eur Bud Internatinal - cntact@eurbud-int.cm. Eur Bud Internatinal finalises the categries tgether with the rganisers. Fr a champinship, the entries shuld als be sent t the respnsible persn f the natinal federatin, wh will crdinate them Entries fr a Eurpean r Wrld Champinship Each cmpeting cuntry can select and enter a maximum f 4 cmpetitrs fr each categry. The rganizing cuntry can select and enter a maximum f 6 cmpetitrs fr each categry Selectin f cmpetitrs per cuntry The cmpetitrs shuld respect the fllwing criteria in rder t being able t get selected by a cmpeting cuntry: The cmpetitr shuld have the Natinality f the cmpeting cuntry r the cmpetitr shuld have jined a club whse headquarters are lcated in the cmpeting cuntry The cmpetitr can t be selected fr and entered by different cuntries. 9/19 Versin

10 Eur Bud Internatinal 3.6 Cmpetitin frmat Natinal champinships and internatinal cmpetitins There are tw chices f frmat fr natinal champinships and internatinal cmpetitins Single repêchage system In this frmat, there is a repêchage bracket fr thse cmpetitrs wh have lst a match against the eventual finalists. As sn as the finalists are knwn, all cmpetitrs wh have lst a match against ne f the finalists cmpete again in anther knckut cmpetitin, being given a secnd chance t win third place Duble repêchage system Curse f the cmpetitin in which there is a duble repêchage pssible: each cmpetitr will have t fight twice regardless f whether they win r lse the first fight. After each rund f matches, the cmpetitrs are divided int tw grups. The grup f winners: They fight each ther until they reach the final fr first place The grup f lsers: They fight each ther until they reach the final fr third place Anyne wh lses twice is eliminated frm the cmpetitin Eurpean and Wrld Champinships At Eurpean and Wrld Champinships, the duble repêchage system is used; see paragraph Other turnaments At friendly cmpetitins and lcal turnaments, the frmat f the cmpetitin can be: Either f the frmats utlined in sectin 3.6.1; A single-eliminatin turnament in which there is n repêchage; r A pl frmat, in which each cmpetitr cmpetes against everyne else within the same pl f between three and five System with three cntestants at Natinal, Eurpean and Wrld Champinships If there are nly three entries fr a certain categry, then each cntestant will fight the ther tw. The winner is the cmpetitr wh wins the mst matches. Ties are brken by cmparing the number f flags the cmpetitrs were awarded acrss their matches. 3.7 Attackers Each cmpetitr can freely chse and bring his wn attacker. During a single match (three r fur attacks), the cmpetitr cannt change his attacker. Hwever, ver the cmpetitin day, the cmpetitr may have mre than ne attacker. 10/19 Versin

11 Eur Bud Internatinal In the yuth categry, the attacker may nt exceed the upper age limit f 18 years. NB: if the attacker is als a cmpetitr, bth he and his partner will have t bring an extra persn that can act as partner in case bth cmpetitrs cme up against ne anther, r have t fight at the same time n different tatami. 3.8 Injuries during the fight If the cmpetitr is injured during ne f his buts rund, medical attentin can be given. The rund may be stpped fr up t 1 minute, starting frm the mment the medical assistant steps nt the cmpetitin field. If the attacker is injured during ne f the runds, medical attentin can be given. The cmpetitr cannt wrk with anther attacker during the nging match under any circumstances Verdict by the judges during a fight with injuries The jury will take int cnsideratin the prgress f the match at the time this happens. The jury can reach a verdict if mre than half f the attacks have been executed. In case there is a tie, the nn injured attacker/cmpetitr will be the winner. In case less than half f the attacks have been executed, the nn injured attacker/cmpetitr will be the winner. 11/19 Versin

The exact psitin f the attacker during a specific attack may deviate frm the psitin shwn n the demnstratin phtgraph r drawing, as lng as the essence f the executed attack still represents the intentin f the attack shwn. Fr example, during a grund attack, the attacker may chse t kneel n bth knees, even thugh the phtgraph/drawing shws an attacker kneeling dwn n ne knee. 12/19 Versin

13 5 Cmpetitin area requirements Eur Bud Internatinal 5.1 Cmpetitin fficials In rder t rganize a Randm Attacks cmpetitin, the fllwing fficials are required: Referees and Judges One tatami referee, wh has t take care f the fllwing: The smth running f each match. Participants have t greet each ther and take their psitins at the beginning f the match. Deciding whether Red r White (Blue) will attack first. Requesting the verdict f the Judges and signalling the winner. Checking the requested attack at the attacks table when a wrng attack is executed. Deciding the winner when the verdict f the Judges again results in a tie after the additinal tie-break attack. Giving a warning when the rules are nt respected Making the decisin whether a new attack has t be executed after a warning Attributing a pint t the ppnent if a secnd warning has t be issued fr the same raisn Three r five Judges wh give a verdict f wh wins and wh lses a match. The Judges signal their judgment by means f a red and a white (blue) flag The Judges are lcated: In a single line, all next t each ther; r One Judge at each crner f the cmpetitin field, and ne Judge in frnt f the attacks table. An Event referee wh is respnsible fr the event during the whle cmpetitin day. This referee is respnsible fr the turnament and/r champinship running smthly. This referee can take decisins abut issues beynd the scpe f this dcument. Referees and/r Judges can t participate as cmpetitrs and/r attackers during a Natinal, Eurpean and/r Wrld Champinship, where they als functin as referee and/r judge Cmpetitin table Tw peple are needed at the cmpetitin table, wh are respnsible fr: Calling the cmpetitrs Appinting the white (blue) and red belts Recrding the final scre Attacks table Tw peple are needed at the attacks table, wh are respnsible fr: Shwing the requested attack t the attackers Shwing the scre n the screbard 13/19 Versin

14 Eur Bud Internatinal Verifying that the requested attack is in fact carried ut Drawing the attentin f the tatami referee t the fact that ne f the attackers has nt executed the requested attack, by means f a yellw flag. 6 Scring 6.1 Curse f a match with fur attacks The tatami referee will request the judgment ver bth cmpetitrs after each rund. This is dne by means f the red and white (blue) flags. The result after each but can be as fllws: There are mre red flags There are mre white (blue) flags A tie, when the amunt f red flags and white (blue) flags is equal. The tatami referee will give ne pint t the cmpetitr with the mst winning flags, r will call a tie ( hikiwake ), after each rund. The pint scred will be added t the screbard. When there is a tie, bth cmpetitrs will get a pint. 6.2 Curse f a match with three attacks (yuth up t the age f 12) The tatami referee will request the judgment ver bth cmpetitrs after all three attacks have been defended by bth cmpetitrs. This is dne by means f the red and white (blue) flags. The result after the three runds have been carried ut can be as fllws: There are mre red flags There are mre white (blue) flags A tie when the amunt f red flags and white (blue) flags is equal. 6.3 Winner The winner is indicated by the tatami referee. A cmpetitr wh has a 3 0 lead after three runds f attacks wins the but. A cmpetitr wh has the lead (by any margin) after fur runds wins the but. Fr yuth up t the age f 12, the cmpetitr wh receives mre flags in the judgment wins. If there is a tie after all runds: An additinal attack is carried ut If the Judges still call a tie after this additinal attack, the tatami referee decides the winner. A cmpetitr als wins when: Their ppnent chses t frfeit the match; Their ppnent r their ppnent s attacker is injured, accrding t the rules in sectin 3.8; r Their ppnent fails t attend the match. Cmpetitrs and their attackers need t be ready at the cmpetitin table after the final secnd call at the latest. 14/19 Versin

15 Eur Bud Internatinal 6.4 Evaluatin criteria A quick initial actin r reactin with a realistic defence frm a strike r realistic escape frm a hld r lck All mves shuld be a lgical cntinuatin f the initial actin r reactin. All subsequent techniques frm the initial actin/reactin up t the end f the mve shuld be executed in a cntrlled manner. 6.5 Duties f the tatami referee Taking psitin (cmpetitrs) The tatami referee signals the lcatin f the starting psitin f the cmpetitrs with his pen hands Greeting ne anther (cmpetitrs) The tatami referee guides the greeting f the cmpetitrs t ne anther and des s by mving his pen hands twards each ther and saying Rei. Greeting the Judges and the attackers (cmpetitrs) The tatami referee guides the greeting f the Judges and the attackers in the same way. Starting psitin (cmpetitrs) Signals the cmpetitrs t take up their fighting psitin (see 3.2.): Take Psitin. Annunces the attacks First attack Secnd attack Third attack if fur attacks are t be executed (see 3.4.) Last attack Starting the attack (attacker) The tatami referee prceeds quietly and at a safe distance t the attacker that will have t execute the attack The tatami referee is free t chse wh will g first Starting signal fr the cuple with the red belt is Red and starting signal fr the cuple with the white (blue) belt is White (blue) Stand at the ready fr the verdict f the Judges (cmpetitrs) The tatami referee will ask the attackers t leave the cmpetitin area and signals this with his pen hands The tatami referee will ask the cmpetitrs t face the attacks table, saying: Lk at the Judges Decisin (cmpetitrs) The tatami referee will request the verdict f the Judges: Hantei Signals the scre. 16 7 Cmpetitin field and material Eur Bud Internatinal 7.1 Natinal Champinship cmpetitin field There are tw ptins: The pairs are psitined n a straight line ne after the ther: rectangle with minimum dimensins f 12 meters by 8 meters, cnsisting f tatami mats which are safe t fall n. There shuld be a distance f between 3 metres and 5 metres between the pairs. The pairs must nt be in line with each ther: n a square with minimum dimensins f 8 meters by 8 meters, cnsisting f tatami mats which are safe t fall n. There shuld be markings n the tatami where the cmpetitrs and attackers have t take their starting psitin. There shuld be markings n the tatami where the cmpetitrs and attackers have t enter the cmpetitin field. 7.2 Eurpean r Wrld Champinship cmpetitin field Rectangle with minimum dimensins f 16 meters by 10 meters, cnsisting f tatami mats which are safe t fall n. There shuld be markings n the tatami where the cmpetitrs and attackers have t take their starting psitin. There shuld be a distance f between 4 metres and 6 metres between the pairs. There shuld be markings n the tatami where the cmpetitrs and attackers have t enter the cmpetitin field. 7.3 Other items required at each tatami One red and ne white (r blue) flag fr each Judge. One yellw flag at the attacks table. Red and white (r blue) belts. The attacking techniques displayed n drawings, phtgraphs r n a digital screen. At Eurpean and Wrld Champinships, a digital versin f the attacking techniques must be used. Drawings and/r phtgraphs can be used in case f cmputer failure. A screbard. Dcuments upn which the participants and results can be recrded. Weapns: 2 knives, 2 shrt sticks and 2 guns. 16/19 Versin

17 Eur Bud Internatinal Rubber r wden knife Rubber r wden stick - 45cm/50cm yuth & 50cm/55 cm + 16 years Rubber r wden gun A spare knife, stick and gun is recmmended 7.4 Cmpetitin clthing The participants must wear a neat Bud-Gi, Wushu-, taekwnd-, Hapkid- r pencak silat suit (T-shirts are nt allwed) The arm sleeves and truser legs may nt be rlled-up. Female participants are required t wear a T-shirt underneath their suit, male participants are nt. The arm sleeves must reach at least the middle f the lwer arm. The truser legs must reach at least the middle f the lwer leg. Helmets, glves and ther prtective equipment wrn ver clthing are nt permitted. Additinal prtectin equipment in the case f an injury may be permitted at the discretin f the tatami referee. General rules with regard t hygiene are t be respected. Participants are frbidden t wear anything that might injure their attackers. Jewellery must nt be wrn, unless it is adequately taped ff. 17/19 Versin

18 Eur Bud Internatinal 8 Medals 8.1 Natinal Champinship medals and/r trphies The winners f the first three places will receive a medal r trphy. The rganiser f the event is respnsible fr this. Other cmpetitrs may be given a tken, but this is ptinal. The attackers f the three winners n stage may als be given a tken; this is als ptinal. 8.2 Eurpean and Wrld Champinship medals and/r trphies The winners f the first three places will receive a medal r trphy. The rganiser f the event is respnsible fr this purpse. The attackers f the three winners n stage are given a tken. This medal r trphy must nt be larger than that f the winners. The attacker may receive his medal and take place n the stage tgether with the cmpetitr. The name f the attacker will nt be recrded n the fficial results. 9 Drugs plicy Each cmpetitin, turnament r champinship can be subject t a cntrl f drug use. Anyne caught using banned drugs will: Lse all scres, pints, selectin pints, results and titles wn at that turnament. Be required t return all medals and prizes frm that turnament. Be subject t suspensin by the relevant federatins r authrities. 18/19 Versin
