In 2009, the Wildcats defeated Towson in the CAA Tournament to earn an automatic bid to the NCAAs, and in 2011 Villanova got an at-large bid after going 11-4 during the regular season. CLUTCH CUCCINELLO: In his last 33 games dating back to April 23, 2016, Christian Cuccinello has at least earned one point in every contest. Game time is scheduled for 2:15 p.m. on Saturday, May 12th and will be televised on ESPNU. NCAA HISTORY: This is the third time in program history the Wildcats have made it to the NCAA Tournament, and will be the first time they will meet Duke in championship play. In 2009, the Wildcats defeated Towson in the CAA Tournament to earn an automatic bid to the NCAAs, and in 2011 Villanova got an at-large bid after going 11-4 during the regular season. A LOOK AT VILLANOVA: The Wildcats enter Saturday s contest with a 10-5 overall record. Villanova lost to Georgetown in the BIG EAST semifinals last Thursday and got an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament. To start the season the Wildcats went 5-0, their best start in program history. This included wins over Penn State, Yale, and Delaware. VILLANOVA S OFFENSE: Christian Cuccinello has led the Wildcats all season, the attackman has netted 33 goals and dished out 22 assists for a total of 55 points. All which represent a team high. Fellow senior Danny Seibel, who is tied all-time with Cuccinello in career goals has 31 this season along with nine assists for 40 points. BIG EAST Freshman of the Year Keegan Khan has contribute 43 points this season, including seven this year vs. Marquette. Connor Kirst and Devin McNamara, both who start on Villanova s midfield line, have over 20 points this season. They are joined by sixth year graduate student John Kluh who this season netted the overtime game winner at Penn State. VILLANOVA S DEFENSE: Defensive midfielder TJ Comizio, who earned a spot on the All-BIG EAST Second Team and All-Tournament team, finds himself ranked in the top 10 in caused turnovers. This season the junior captain has 15 along with 48 ground balls and six assists. Fellow d-middie Chris Donovan has 33 ground balls this season along with 10 caused turnovers. Sophomore Matt Webster and Zachary Kryza along with freshman Owen Prybylski have started on defense all season for the Wildcats. In goal over the last three games has been sophomore Michael Toomey, who has 38 saves in just over 260 minutes of action. A LOOK AT DUKE: For the 22nd time in program history the Blue Devils have made the NCAA Tournament. The No. 4 seed Blue Devils, enter Saturday s contest with a 13-3 overall record and coming off a win against Boston University to end the season. Prior Duke lost to Notre Dame in the ACC semifinals. DUKE S OFFENSE: Justin Guterding is the second Division I men s lacrosse player to score over 200 career goals, this season he has netted 56 along with 40 assists for 96 points. Freshman Joe Robertson is also on the attack line and has contributed 47 points this season. Midfielder Brad Smith is second on the team in points with 55, he has scored 26 goals and assisted on 29 goals. Peter Conley has 33 points over their 16 previous games while Sean Lowrie has 20. DUKE S DEFENSE: Danny Fowler has played over 830 minutes this season between the pipes for Duke and boasts a.546 save percentage and 8.14 goals against average. Joe Stein and Brian Smyth share duties at the faceoff X. Stein is 96-of-171 (.561), while Smyth is 91-of-196 (.462). Cade Van Raaphorst and JT Giles-Harris anchor the close defense with 18 and 20 caused turnovers, respectively.

3 IT S WORTH NOTING... POSTSEASON FIRST: Freshman Keegan Khan is the first Villanova s rookie to win Freshman of the Year in the BIG EAST. The last Wildcat to be named Rookie of the Year honors was back in 2003 when Joe Canuso earned the CAA honor. FAMILY AFFAIR: The Quigley twins will faceoff against each other during the NCAA first round game. Brendan is a defensive midfielder for the Wildcats while Kevin is an offensive midfielder for the Blue Devils. KILLER KHAN: Freshman Keegan Khan has made an impact on the offensive line during his rookie season. Currently he s second on the team in points with 43. Khan has netted 29 goals and dished out 14 assists through 14 games. He netted 13 of his goal this season in back-to-back game, six vs. Fairfield and seven at Marquette. CLUTCH CUCCINELLO: In his last 33 games dating back to April 23, 2016, Christian Cuccinello has at least earned one point in every contest. Currently during this run, he has scored 69 goals and dished out 54 assists for a total of 123 points. BIG EAST POSTSEASON AWARDS: Khan not only was named unanimous BIG EAST Freshman of the Year he also earned a spot of the All-BIG EAST Second Team. On the First Team this year was senior attackman Christian Cuccinello and sophomore midfielder Connor Kirst. Joining Khan on the second team are junior TJ Comizio, freshman Owen Prybylski, and senior Danny Seibel. OT CAT S: The Wildcat s in three games of the 2018 season have gone to OT and have come out on top all three times. John Kluh netted the game winner in the season opener at Penn State just 50 seconds into the first overtime. Next it was Danny Seibel who took a pass from TJ Comizio and scored the game winner against Yale in Frisco Texas. Seibel netted the game winner in OT against Fairfield to close out non-conference play. 100 POINT CLUB: Graduate student Devin McNamara, seniors Christian Cuccinello, and Danny Seibel all have over 100 career points. McNamara has 124 career points on 77 goals and 47 assists while Cuccinello has netted 97 goals and dished out 69 assists for 166 points. Seibel has 119 points in 58 games played thanks to 97 goals and 22 assists. RECORD HOLDERS: Villanova faceoff specialists Luke Palmadesso is seventh all-time in faceoff winning percentage at.545 percentage. Christian Cuccinello broke into the top 10 in all-time points, goals and assists. His 166 points puts him sixth, his 97 goals tie him for 7th and he is 7th in assists with 69. Fellow senior Danny Seibel tied for 7th in all time in career goals with 97. SSDM TJ Comizio tied for 8th all-time in caused turnovers with 34. THIRD TIME IN EIGHT YEARS: Danny Seibel and Keegan Khan both netted six goals against Fairfield. This is only the third in the last eight years in Division I men s lacrosse that two teammates have netted 6+ goals in a single game. The Wildcats were No. 5 in the USI- LA Coaches Poll on March 28th 2016 setting a new program best then. BARRETT SIDELINED: Goalkeeper Matt Barrett sustained a knee injury during the season opener at Penn State, and will be reevaluated by the doctors in a month. During this time he will be sidelined indefinitely. FRESHMEN FIRST: For the first time since April 18, 2015, three freshman scored a goal in a single game. Keegan Khan, Colin Crowley, and Eric Overbay all found the back of the net during the first game as a Wildcat. TEWAARATON NOMINEE: Senior attackman Christian Cuccinello was one of 5 men s lacrosse student-athletes to be named to the Tewaaraton Trophy Nominee on April 26th. SEASON OPENER: Villanova is (.474) in season-openers dating back to 1981 when the Wildcats began sponsoring men s lacrosse as a varsity sport. PRESEASON AWARDS: Villanova graduate student midfielder Devin Mc- Namara, senior attackmen Christian Cuccinello and Danny Seibel have been selected to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team as announced by the conference office on Wednesday afternoon. The Wildcats have been selected by the BIG EAST head coaches to finish second in the league in the 2019 Preseason Coaches Poll, receiving 21 points and one first place vote CAPTAINS: John Kluh, Christian Cuccinello, Luke Palmadesso, Danny Seibel, and T.J. Comizio serve as the team captains for the 2018 season. NEW WILDCATS: There are 12 newcomers on this year s team, 10 freshmen and two transfers. FROCCARO OUT: Junior midfielder/faceoff specialist Joey Froccaro is out for the season due to an injury he sustained during fall ball. VILLANOVA TO HOST BIG EAST TOURNAMENT: Villanova Stadium will be the location for the 2018 BIG EAST Men s Lacrosse Tournament. Villanova was the host school for the first four BIG EAST men s lacrosse tournaments until The tournament is set for May 3rd and 5th. 5 HEAD COACH MICHAEL CORRADO The season marks Mike Corrado s 12th year as the head coach at Villanova and his 23rd overall with the program. Corrado was appointed head coach during the summer of 2006 after being named associate head coach one year earlier. The 2013, 2010 and 2009 BIG EAST and CAA Coach of the Year has led the Wildcats to unprecedented success in recent seasons. Over the last 11 seasons, Corrado has garnered a.539 overall winning percentage while posting a.534 mark in conference contests. His career record currently stands at following the conclusion of the 2018 campaign. The 2017 season marked the sixthstraight year Villanova has qualified for the BIG EAST tournament; the most of any current member of the league. He has led his teams to seven conference tournaments over the past eight seasons as a member of both the BIG EAST and CAA conferences and guided Villanova to their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearances in 2009 and Corrado s squads have consistently played the best competition in the nation and the Wildcats strength of schedule has ranked in the top-5 in the NCAA every year dating back to 2009 according to laxpower.com. Additionally, in 2014 Corrado was chosen to coach in the prestigious USILA North/South All-Star game, where he led the South squad to a convincing victory over the North. Corrado returned as an assistant coach for the South squad in Corrado has led several players to individual accolades since being appointed head coach. Over the past 11 seasons, seven student-athletes have earned USI- LA All-America honors, nine have been named conference Player of the Years and a total of 55 have been chosen for all-conference laurels. Also during his time as the head coach at Villanova seven student-athletes have earned USILA Scholastic All-American honors. A total of 13 Wildcat s have been selected to play in the prestigious USILA Division I North/South Senior All-Star game in recent years, with Jack Rice taking home MVP honors in 2013 and Vigilante earning the same distinction in In his time at Villanova, Corrado has served in several capacities including mentoring the defense and serving as the recruiting coordinator. His expertise specifically lies with coordinating defensive efforts, and in 2003 and 2004, the Wildcats scoring defense ranked first and seventh in the nation, respectively. In 2005, Villanova improved to fourth in the country, allowing just 7.13 goals per game. In November of 2005, Corrado was inducted into the Villanova Varsity Club Hall of Fame, being just the fourth lacrosse player to ever receive this honor. Previous inductees from the men s lacrosse program include Bob Adams (Class of 1980), Bill Hook (1980) and teammate Drew Cunningham (1985). A former standout defenseman for the Wildcats, Corrado is in his second stint at Villanova having also served as an assistant under former Head Coach Randy Marks from Upon leaving Villanova, Corrado took a position at Conestoga High School before accepting a head coaching position with the Haverford High School varsity men s lacrosse team. As a student-athlete, Corrado was a four-year starter at Villanova from He was the team s Rookie of the Year in `84 and named co-captain and Most Valuable Player in his senior season when he collected a team-high 93 ground balls. For his career, Corrado tallied four goals and five assists from the offensive end of the field and was an All-County player for Islip (N.Y.) High School prior to becoming a Wildcat. Upon graduation in 1987, Corrado served four years in the U.S. Navy where he was based out of Norfolk, Va. He is a veteran of the Persian Gulf War and retired as a Commander from the Naval Reserves. Corrado received his Master s degree in Education from Temple University in Michael and his wife, Valerie, live in Drexel Hill, Pa. with their son, Matthew.
