The Scarlet Knights (9-2, 2-0 Big Ten) bring a four-game winning streak to College Park for the 4 p.m. game against the Terrapins (8-2, 2-0 Big Ten). The game will be live streamed on BTN Plus. Rutgers has been rolling to start conference play, outscoring opponents in victories over then-no. 9 Johns Hopkins and Michigan. In the past four games, all RU wins, the Scarlet Knights have outscored their foes Senior goalkeeper Kris Alleyne has come on in that span, posting a 7.20 goals-against average and.614 save percentage over that span. The starting attack line for RU has continued to excel. The trio of Scott Bieda ( ), Adam Charalambides ( ) and Jules Heningburg ( ) has combined for 57 percent of the team s points this season. A redshirt freshman, Charalambides is one of two freshmen in country with 30-plus goals (joining Colin Burke of Fairfield). Bieda is working his way up the Rutgers records board, currently sitting 7th all-time in assists (92) and 9th all-time in points (176). He also boasts a 31-game point scoring streak and leads the Big Ten with 4.45 points per game. RU has also been excelling on the man-up of late, with Ryan Hollingsworth scoring four goals in conference play on the extra-man and leading the B1G in man-up goals. Maryland enters the game on a seven-game winning streak, with both of their Big Ten games being one-goal victories (8-7 at Michigan, in OT at No. 14 Penn State). The Terps two losses came against then-no. 7 Yale and No. 1 Notre Dame. Last season, Maryland went 15-4 and was the NCAA National Runner-Up, falling to Denver in the National Championship. The two teams met last season in Piscataway on April 12, where RU and then-no. 3 Maryland went down to the wire, with the Terrapins eking out a 9-8 win on a goal with 13 seconds remaining. Christian Trasolini and Jeff George each scored twice in the game. Overall, Maryland holds a 23-2 lead in the all-times series, which dates back to RU collected victories in 1949 and Last season s matchup was the first meeting between the teams since Facing No. 4 Maryland, Rutgers is looking for its highest ranked win since beating No. 4 Syracuse on April 17, Rutgers hasn t gotten two top-five victories in a season since 2003 (No. 3 UMass and No. 4 Syracuse). The Scarlet Knights earned five wins, highlighted by a win over No. 10 Ohio State in the season finale. Under Brecht s tutelage, senior Joe Nardella established himself as one of the top faceoff men in the nation. Nardella won 223-of-333 faceoffs for a 67.0 winning percentage that was third in the nation, and was third in the nation with 8.33 ground balls per game. He was named a Third Team All-American, the 205th All-American in program history. Nardella was drafted by the MLL s Boston Cannons, and began his professional career after his senior season concluded. Three players earned All-Big Ten accolades in Nardella was chosen as the Big Ten Specialist of the Year and was a First Team All-Big Ten selection. Junior captain Scott Bieda, who led the team with 30 goals and 28 assists for 58 points, was also a First Team All-Big Ten selection. Junior midfielder Zack Sikora was named Honorable Mention All-Big Ten. Senior captain Brian Goss was selected as the Sportsmanship Honoree. Additionally, Campbell Sode was recognized for his academic achievements, as he joined Nardella as a USILA Scholar All-American and was named a Wayne Duke Postgraduate Award winner by the Big Ten Conference. Rutgers had 14 players in total named to the 2015 All-Big Ten Academic Team. In 2014, Brecht led the Scarlet Knights to its best season in 10 years in the final year as part of the BIG EAST Conference. RU posted an 8-8 record, its most wins since the 2004 team went 8-6. The Scarlet Knights made their first BIG EAST Championship since joining the conference in 2010, their first postseason appearance since RU posted an 8-7 mark in regular season play, its best winning percentage in the regular season since the 2007 team went 7-6. Rutgers tallied three BIG EAST victories, its most in a season since joining the league. Brecht mentored four Second Team All-BIG EAST members in 2014: attackman Scott Bieda, defender Nick Contino, midfielder Joe Nardella, and midfielder Anthony Terranova. Nardella finished fifth nationally with a.632 face-off winning percentage (206-of-326), and was fourth in the country with 9.79 ground balls per game. Brecht s squad continued to achieve high marks academically in 2014, as 28 members of the program were named to the conference All-Academic Team. In 2013, Brecht coached goalkeeper Kris Alleyne, who earned BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the year honors, after the freshman finished the season fourth in the nation with saves per game and seventh in the country with a.596 save percentage. Under Brecht s tutelage, faceoff specialist Joe Nardella earned Second Team All-BIG EAST recognition after finishing fourth in the nation with a.622 faceoff win percentage. In the classroom, the squad earned 20 BIG EAST All-Academic Team selections in 2013, with the 20 players recording a minimum GPA of 3.00 for the academic year. In his first season at the helm of the Scarlet Knights in 2012, Brecht helped senior midfielder Will Mangan to a long list of accolades, both on the field and in the classroom. Academically, he was named to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Scholar All-America Team. On the field, Brecht guided the co-captain to other honors including BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year, All-BIG EAST First Team, a USILA/LaxWorld North-South Classic participant and USILA All-American Honorable Mention. Mangan was picked up and played professionally on Major League Lacrosse s Long Island Lizards and Denver Outlaws. The head coach also produced student-athletes in year one, leading 23 of his players to BIG EAST All- Academic Team recognition, which was tied for the most of any Rutgers squad last season. Prior to arriving On the Banks he served a seven-year tenure as head coach at Siena College. A native of Long Island, N.Y. and a former Rutgers assistant coach, Brecht was a three-time MAAC Coach of the Year at Siena and led the Saints to multiple conference championships, NCAA tournament appearances and the program s first ever national ranking. Brecht, who led Siena to 57 victories (57-28) in his last five seasons there, is the 11th head coach in the history of the Rutgers men s lacrosse program. He came to Rutgers after leading Siena to new heights. Under his direction, the Saints earned four MAAC regular season championships and two MAAC tournament crowns, while also making the first two NCAA Tournament appearances in program history. He was named the MAAC Coach of the Year in 2005, 2007 and 2009, while being cited as the Siena College Coach of the Year in 2007, 2009, 2010 and Siena s 57 victories from included 22-straight MAAC wins and 13-consecutive home victories. The Saints 57 wins over that span marked the sixth highest victory total in the nation, trailing only the likes of Duke, Virginia, Syracuse, Cornell and Notre Dame. Thirty-five players earned All-MAAC honors under Brecht and 41 were cited as Academic All-Conference, including a trio of Academic All-Americans. Brent Herbst, who became the first Siena and MAAC player drafted by the Major Lacrosse League, was a two-time USILA All-American. In total, Brecht developed four USILA All-Americans, three North-South All-Star selections, three MAAC Rookies of the Year, three MAAC Offensive Players of the Year and three MAAC Defensive Players of the Year at Siena. In his last season at Siena, the Saints tallied a program-record 13 wins and finished the season nationally ranked (No. 20) in both the USILA Coaches Poll and Nike/Inside Lacrosse Media Poll for the first time in school history. The squad advanced to the first round of the NCAA Tournament, where it dropped a tightly contested match to No. 1 Syracuse. Prior to his arrival in Loudonville, Brecht spent nine seasons as an assistant coach with five different schools. He made stops at Hartwick ( ), Penn ( ), Army ( ), Rutgers ( ) and Loyola ( ). While On the Banks, Brecht worked under head coach Bill Dirrigl and served as the Scarlet Knight s interim head coach in October A graduate of Sachem High School on Long Island, Brecht played collegiate lacrosse at Springfield (Mass.) College. He earned a bachelor of science in physical education from Springfield in Brecht and his wife Gabrielle are the proud parents of a seven-year old daughter named Paige and a four-year old son, Parker. 4 GENERAL NOTES O CAPTAIN, MY CAPTAIN RU will boast two season-long captain for the 2016 campaign - senior attacker Scott Bieda and Zack Sikora. Sikora was named a full-time captain after game five. The team will also select gameday captains, chosen based on contributions to the previous week s game and practie. NATIONALLY RANKED Rutgers entered the national polls on February 29 after a 3-0 start to the season. RU was 16 in the Coaches Poll, 19 in the Media Poll, and 20 in the LaxMagazine Poll. The ranking was the team s first since 2011, and the first time under current head coach Brian Brecht. The ranking of 16 was also the highest the team had been ranked since March of Rutgers rose to 16 the next week in the Media Poll after a 5-0 start. After dropping out of the rankings briefly, the team became ranked again at No. 18 after a top-ten win over Johns Hopkins and moved to No. 16 after defeating Michigan. SECOND SEASON IN THE BIG TEN Rutgers addition to the Big Ten allowed the conference to sponsor men s and women s lacrosse for the first time, with the sports becoming the conference s 27th and 28th official sports. Johns Hopkins was added as an affiliate member for men s lacrosse only, joining Rutgers, Maryland, Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State as the six schools in the B1G for men s lacrosse. Long stick midfielder Zack Sikora was selected 61st overall by the Charlotte Hounds, and attacker Scott Bieda was picked 70th overall by the New York Lizards. Both players were all-conference selections a year ago, as Bieda was named First Team All-Big Ten and Sikora was an Honorable Mention All-Big Ten Selection. MILESTONE WATCH Kris Alleyne needs 6 saves to reach 500 career and move into 6th place all-time at RU Scott Bieda needs 9 assists to tie for 6th on RU s all-time top-ten list Scott Bieda needs 2 points to tie for 7th on RU s all-time top-ten list Scott Bieda needs 12 goals to enter RU s all-time top-ten list Adam Charalambides needs 10 goals to tie for 10th most goals in a season at RU, 12 goals to tie RU record for most goals by a first-year player (Keith Cromwell, 1998) PRESEASON PLAYERS TO WATCH The Big Ten Conference has named three Rutgers players as Players to Watch for the 2015 season: Attacker Scott Bieda (30 goals, 28 assists in 2015), attacker Christian Trasolini (26 goals in 2015) and long stick midfielder Zack Sikora (six goals, 48 ground balls in 2015) COMMUNITY SERVICE Rutgers has been continually active within the community. The team raised over $5,000 in the fall to help the Vs. Cancer Foundation combat childhood cancer. They have also adopted Caden, a 13-year-old with leukemia as a member of the team through the Embrace Kids Program. The men s lacrosse team led the RU athletic department in community service hours and placed in the Top 5 nationally among all lacrosse schools, KNIGHTS IN THE PROS The Scarlet Knights have had continual success with sending their players to the professional levels. Six Rutgers alumni were on Major League Lacrosse rosters this season, Justin Pennington, who was named a MLL All-Star, was teammates with Chris O Dougherty on the Denver Outlaws graduate Joe Nardella played on the Boston Cannons, who also had Brendan Porter on the roster. And Chris Mattes and Duncan Clancy were teammates as members of the Florida Launch. Current Rutgers assistant coach Jesse Bernhardt played this season for the Chesapeake Bayhawks, where he was named an All-Star. Former RU player Keith Cromwell was an assistant coach for the New York Lizards, who won the MLL Championship. After the season, Scott Klimchak signed with the Bayhawks, and Nick Contino was selected by the Denver Outlaws in the MLL Supplemental Draft. SENIOR CLASS AWARD Scott Bieda was named one of 20 original candiates for the Senior CLASS Award, an award honoring success in community, classroom, character and competition. PACKING THEM IN Attendance at High Point Solutions Stadium has risen dramatically this season. Rutgers drew 3,653 fans for a home win over No. 9 Johns Hopkins, the largest crowd since RU started playing in the stadium and the largest lacrosse crowd in over 10 years. The next game, a win over Michigan, drew 2,144 fans, marking the first time RU has drawn over 2,000 fans in back-to-back games. GOING STREAKING Scott Bieda is part of one of the longest scoring streaks in the nation. He has 31 straight games with a point ( during that streak), which is tied for the 12th longest scoring streak in the nation.

5 GAME-BY-GAME CAPSULES RUTGERS 19 - ST. JOHN S 11 The Scarlet Knights got the season off to an outstanding start with a eight-goal win over their former BIG EAST rivals. After falling down 3-0, they responded with the next eight goals to take control of the game. The contest was highlighted by record-breaking days from Scott Bieda (5 G, 4 A) and Adam Charalamabides (6 G, 1 A). Goals: Charalambides (6), Bieda (5), Murphy (2), Toliver (2), Heningburg, George, Hollingsworth RUTGERS 16 - JOHNS HOPKINS 9 Rutgers earned its highest ranked victory since 2007 with a dominating performance against No. 9 Johns Hopkins. RU led the entire game, running out to a 8-3 hafltime lead and outscoring the Blue Jays by seven overall. The win, which came in front of a record 3,653 fans, was the team s first over JHU since Goals: Charalambides (4), Bieda (3), Hollingsworth (3), Heningburg (2), Jordan (2), Trasolini, Christian Scarpello RUTGERS 13 - ARMY 11 Rutgers got a road win at West Point, defeating rival Army for the second time in three years. The Scarlet Knights led 6-3 and 8-6 before Army took an lead with 5:56 to play. RU won the game from there, scoring the last three goals, including the game-winner from Scott Bieda with 3:43 remaining. A close game throughout, RU put the game away by scoring the final five goals of the contest. Jules Heningburg had a career-high five goals, and Scott Bieda had six points. Goals: Henningburg (4), Charalambides (3), Bieda, Trasolini, Toliver, Rose, Christiano RUTGERS 15 - WAGNER 7 No. 16 Rutgers controlled gameplay in a road win in Staten Island, improving to 4-0 on the year. RUTGERS 12 - MONMOUTH 6 No. 16 Rutgers won its second straight road game, doubling up an in-state foe. The Scarlet Knights jumped out to an early 5-1 lead, and recovered from MU cutting the lead to 7-5 by scoring five straight goals. However, the home squad took over from there and outscored RU 14-3 in the last three quarters to deal Rutgers its first loss of the season. The game was tied 2-2 at halftime but Princeton scored the next four goals and never trailed in the contest.
