1 Standardized Cntractr Safety Training fr the Mining Sectr Frequently Asked Questins Nvember 2018 Standardized Cntractr Safety Training prvides a cst-effective slutin t training and certificatin and a means t efficiently verify that each individual cntractr n-site hlds a current Saskatchewan Plytechnic safety training certificatin t a standard validated by Saskatchewan Mining Assciatin member cmpanies. Safety training that meets the required standards will be ffered thrugh classrm instructin and nline training and testing lcatins thrughut the prvince. Online prgramming will be delivered by Saskatchewan Plytechnic and evaluated thrugh an nline testing prcess. Apprved testing sites will be at Saskatchewan Plytechnic campuses as well as sites at ther apprved thirdparty training prviders. Classrm instructin and evaluatin will be cnducted by the Saskatchewan Plytechnic at its fur lcatins as well as by apprved third-party training prviders thrughut the prvince. 1) What issue is this prgram addressing? This reputatin, cmbined with their utcme, r standards -based curriculum develpment mdel brings the SMA assurance that curses are relevant and that knwledge and perfrmance requirements are clearly identified and measurable. Saskatchewan Plytechnic als wrks clsely with industry t ensure prgram relevance and currency. We have built an nging industry validatin prcess int this safety prject t allw fr curriculum review and revisins when needed. This quality assurance prcess will ensure curses are up t date with legislative requirements. The standards that have been develped were reviewed and validated by subject matter experts and safety persnnel frm the SMA member cmpanies, as well as the frmer Chief Mines Inspectr fr the prvince, t ensure that the curriculum, including the legislative and regulatry requirements, were in line with industry expectatins. Registratin Prcess: Register fr General Mine Safety Awareness (SFTY 1820) at: The nline curse has a specific timeframe t register. The curse can be started upn registratin but must be cmpleted within 6 mnths f the clse f registratin. Recrds maintained by Saskatchewan Plytechnic and fully accessible by SMA member cmpanies.
