3 1.3 Review methdlgy The review was cnducted by a team f tw reviewers. 4 2. Executive summary 2.1 Key findings There is a strng sense f belnging and pride in the schl. Student engagement levels are high, and the schl has a psitive tne. The schl places a significant emphasis n building a supprtive, nurturing schl envirnment. Parents and families are encuraged t take a genuine and clse interest in the wrk f the schl. Schl staff wrk cllabratively with specialist staff t maximise learning pprtunities and cater fr the diverse learning and wellbeing needs f students. The schl has identified numeracy, reading and writing as the key imprvement agenda items. Key strategies are clearly identified and include schl-wide targets fr imprvement in student achievement against the schl s imprvement agenda. It is unclear hw the schl is mnitring the effectiveness f strategies. There is limited evidence f the imprvement agenda being widely cmmunicated t the parent cmmunity. The principal has enacted prcesses t engage staff and build capacity in the analysis f data t track student achievement. The schl is refining hw individual student prgress is tracked and mnitred. Sme data displays are evident in the classrm while the develpment f a centrally lcated data cllectin prcess is currently being refined. A culture f cllabrative data analysis and discussin is nt clearly evident. The teaching staff are develping a culture f prfessinal cllabratin. The leadership team prvides pprtunities fr sme infrmal bservatins fr teachers t learn frm each ther s practices althugh prcesses fr mentring and caching are nt frmal. Teacher aides are highly valued as part f the teaching team within the schl. A whle-schl prfessinal learning plan is yet t be develped. The schl has a dcumented whle-schl plan fr curriculum delivery which draws frm the Curriculum int the Classrm units f wrk, the Queensland curriculum and the Australian Curriculum. The schl adapts its curriculum plan t give directin t teachers and meet the needs f students in multi-age classes. Cnsistency f teacher judgement is enhanced thrugh the schl s engagement in mderatin with cluster schls. Staff have recgnised the need t ensure vertical alignment f curriculum delivery acrss the schl. 4

5 The schl has a published pedaggical framewrk, which prvides a detailed verview f many effective appraches t classrm practice. The framewrk draws frm elements f the Dimensins f Teaching and Learning framewrk, Explicit Instructin and the Rapid Recall Rutine. Artefacts t supprt the gradual release f respnsibility mdel f instructin are displayed in all classrms and teachers can describe hw this supprts classrm learning. The extent t which the framewrk cnsistently drives teaching and learning practices acrss the schl is unclear. 5

6 2.2 Key imprvement strategies Develp schl-wide prcesses t review and mnitr the effectiveness f the prgrams that underpin the explicit imprvement agenda. Ensure the explicit imprvement agenda is regularly cmmunicated t parents and the cmmunity. Prvide prfessinal develpment t increase staff data literacy t infrm and reflect n teaching practice. Schedule regular times t share and discuss schl data with all teachers t identify trends and areas fr nging imprvement. Develp a whle-schl prfessinal learning plan t clearly reflect the schl s imprvement agenda. Further develp systems and structures t ensure that frmal pprtunities are prvided fr teachers t share expertise and t learn frm each ther's practices thrugh the strategic use f bservatin, caching and mentring. Refine the whle-schl curriculum plan t ensure vertical alignment and prgressin f learning acrss all year levels. Establish prcesses t quality assure and mnitr nging implementatin f the whle-schl curriculum plan. Cllabratively review the schl s pedaggical framewrk t enable clear and cnsistent appraches that drive effective teaching in all classrms.
