4 2. Executive summary 2.1 Key findings The schl has purpsefully targeted the imprvement f the expected standard f behaviur and engagement. Explicit expectatins have been established fr students. There are clear, agreed and cnsistent strategies which are implemented by all staff t ensure a safe and prductive learning envirnment. The schl has established an effective leadership team that is driving a clear imprvement agenda. Leaders within the schl are cmmitted t the imprvement and directin f the schl t ensure imprved learning is ccurring. The leadership team has established a clear fcus n reading, writing, number and behaviur. These pririties are cmprehensively identified by staff as the fci fr learning gals fr students, prfessinal learning and data cllectin and analysis. The staff value and embrace the cnsistency that has been develped thrugh the pedaggical framewrk f the schl. Schl leadership has placed significant pririty n identifying highly effective teaching practices and begun an explicit and evidence-based prcess fr driving specific imprvements in pririty areas fr student achievement. The schl s pedaggical framewrk is cnsistently referenced by teachers as the guiding dcument fr the selectin f their pedaggical appraches. The Bundamba pedaggical essentials prvides a ready reference and drives cnsistent and cherent classrm practice acrss classrm teachers, specialists and the para prfessinal team. Caching, bservatin and feedback have been implemented within the schl t supprt the develpment f classrm teachers. Teaching staff are cmmitted t learning and cntinually imprving their practice. Teachers have engaged in bservatin and feedback cycles that are well received and aligned t the imprvement agenda and the annual perfrmance review prcess f the schl. Expectatins fr student attendance is seen as a matter f cncern fr the schl and seen as an area fr cntinual imprvement. The schl has established a target fr schl imprvement and has been practive in the establishment f utside agencies and supprt t prmte the imprvement f student attendance. The schl is lking at further ways t refine their practices t imprve and prmte regular attendance and the value f educatin. 4
5 There is psitive supprt frm parents in the directin f the schl. The schl prmtes the attendance f parents in a range f scial events and these are generally well attended. Opprtunities t engage all parents as integral partners in their child s learning is an area identified by the schl fr further develpment. 5
6 2.2 Key imprvement strategies Review the schl s current prjects and their impact n student learning. Ensure the relative effective use f the available resurces t mnitr and drive cnsistent and agreed teaching practices and learning initiatives acrss the schl. Develp clear strategies t engage parents as respected partners in their child s learning. Ensure that this includes the imprtance f regular and cnsistent attendance, parent participatin and quality relatinships. Review and reflect n the current schl imprvement agenda t ensure further cnslidatin f existing prgrams. Develp clear prcesses t develp enduring staff expertise in these areas particularly fr new and beginning teachers. Establish a shared schl cmmunity visin fr curriculum and pedaggy that drives aspiratins and high expectatins. Apply these t infrm curriculum design and cllective gal setting at whle-schl, chrt and classrm level. 6
