4 2. Executive summary 2.1 Key findings The schl has a clearly defined imprvement agenda with a sharp and narrw fcus n imprved teaching and learning in reading. Schl leaders identify a desire t imprve student achievement in reading. The analysis f data has infrmed the alignment f key imprvement strategies and resurces t drive schl refrm. Schl leaders and staff priritise the develpment f teaching effectiveness and the strategic implementatin f cycles f caching and feedback, which align with the schl s imprvement agenda. Significant resurces are deplyed t supprt the develpment f teacher expertise, particularly in the teaching f reading. Teachers are pen t critique and value the caching mdel being enacted. Schl leaders and staff share expertise infrmally and frmally acrss the schl. The schl has established frmal prfessinal learning teams within year levels, which meet regularly, ften invlving members f the leadership team, t discuss curriculum, assessment, mderatin and general cllegial cnversatins. These are highly valued acrss the schl. Belmnt State Schl is held in high esteem by students, staff, parents and the brader cmmunity. The schl enjys strng supprt and cmmitment by the peple and cmmunities it serves. Strng enrlment demand, a psitive learning culture and high expectatins fr behaviur, learning and attendance define the schl. Schl leaders recgnise that pprtunities exist t further extend student achievement beynd current perfrmance patterns. Student achievement is high and bradly cmparable t similar Queensland state schls. Leaders identify a challenge t extend achievement t higher levels f perfrmance. Ptential exists t embed a mre strategic apprach t the develpment f intellectual rigr and the teaching f higher rder thinking acrss the curriculum. The schl cuncil, leaders and teachers identify a need t build and engage strategic partnerships and alliances with a brad range f partners t maximise schl and student perfrmance. The schl enjys effective relatinships with a range f grups and agencies. The Schl Cuncil and leaders express a desire t strategically partner with schls, pre- Prep prviders, universities and businesses t build schl capacity in achieving its ptential. 4
