3 1.3 Review methdlgy The review was cnducted by a team f three reviewers. 4 2. Executive summary 2.1 Key findings The schl has reviewed schl strategic planning dcuments and identified key fci fr the present year. Writing is a fcus and staff and cmmunity members identified this as a schl pririty. A cnsistency f apprach t writing practices acrss the schl has led t imprvement in student utcmes. The 2015 Year 3 and Year 5 Natinal Assessment Prgram Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) results are evidence f this imprvement. Staff are cmmitted t imprving the utcmes fr student. The leadership team have identified that greater levels f cmmunicatin and cllabratin between staff members needs t ccur s that the planning and delivery f key learning prgrams and teaching strategies are prvided in a mre cnsistent way. There is clear evidence schl leaders view reliable data abut schl perfrmance as essential t the cntinuus imprvement f student utcmes. The schl has a reprting schedule and cllects a range f data. The reprting schedule includes timelines and targets t be achieved. There is a need t refine the schedule t reflect current schl practice. The schl has established a respnsible behaviur plan fr students implemented thrugh the Psitive Behaviur fr Learning (PB4L) initiative. Schl leadership acknwledges that the present implementatin f this plan is nt meeting the needs f the schl and the behaviur f sme students is impacting n student learning. Many classrm learning envirnments that were bserved demnstrated limited challenge and engagement practices t meet the needs f all students. Teachers identified that behaviurs f sme students restricted their pedaggical chices. The schl has reviewed schl planning dcuments t ensure that they are cmpliant with departmental requirements. Units f wrk are nw predminately drawn frm the Curriculum int the Classrm (C2C) resurce. Mst year levels are wrking tgether t plan units f wrk. A cnsistent delivery f the curriculum is beginning t develp acrss mst year levels. The schl principal has targeted funds t supprt a number f key leadership psitins in the schl t drive the imprvement agenda. These include an additinal half-time deputy principal, curriculum crdinatr, behaviur supprt teacher, lead teachers and explicit teaching caching psitins. 4

5 Schl leaders are explicit abut their desire t see effective teaching ccurring thrughut the schl. Teachers use the Explicit Teaching Mdel which is evident in all classrms. The leadership team make class bservatins fcused n explicit teaching and feedback cycles which includes discussins f specific teaching practices. 5

6 2.2 Key imprvement strategies Review the Psitive Behaviur fr Learning prgram t create and maintain a safe and engaging schl envirnment. Develp structures that enable staff, students and parents t have input int the decisin making practices f the schl. Engage all students in their learning t ensure that they experience meaningful and persnal success. Embed a schl-wide structure that enables teachers t cllabratively plan units f wrk t ensure cnsistency acrss year levels and vertical alignment thrugh the schl. Maximise the effectiveness f all leadership psitins within the schl thrugh strategic crdinatin f rles and respnsibilities t prmte cnsistency f curriculum planning and pedaggical delivery. 6
