3 1.3 Review methdlgy The review was cnducted by a team f tw reviewers. Executive summary 2.1 Key findings The schl s leadership team have identified the key imprvement pririties as being, imprvement in writing and spelling, imprvement in reading and increasing the number f students in the upper tw bands. The schl staff has expressed a strng cmmitment t imprvement fr all students, Staff and students reprt that student imprvement is being mnitred and this is reflected in gains in schl data sets and the Natinal Assessment Prgram - Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) results. The schl has a diagnstic assessment schedule which prvides an verview f a cmprehensive range f assessment tasks frm Prep t Year 10. Within the reading prgram the schl is using multiple data sets t mnitr schlwide achievement and prgress twards stated targets. The schl is yet t develp data that will mnitr and infrm the imprvement strategies relating t writing. Student behaviur and learning engagement are f a high standard. High parent satisfactin levels are evident thrughut the schl. Bth parents and teachers reprt that hme/schl relatinships are very psitive. Schl cmmunicatin ften references psitive student behaviur and successful learning utcmes. Teacher expertise is utilised acrss the schl with sme teaching staff wrking acrss primary and secndary sectrs t deliver prgrams and prvide access t specialised resurces. Additinal schl funds have been used t prvide supplementary teacher aide supprt in the classrm. Teacher aides prvide supprt fr small grup interventins r the individual supprt f students with identified learning needs. There are currently limited resurces being directed t the identificatin and extensin f high perfrming students. The schl has built a prfessinal team f able teachers, including teachers wh take an active leadership rle beynd the classrm. At the time f review n frmal dcumented prfessinal learning plan was available. There was hwever significant evidence that the schl has directed resurces twards develping teachers prfessinal knwledge and skills directly related t the schl pririties. Teachers and supprt staff have participated in frmal prcesses related t the Perfrmance Develpment Framewrk. 4
5 The schl has sme plans fr curriculum delivery that includes year level and term planning expectatins that are being mnitred by the leadership team. A brief curriculum plan is supprted by Curriculum int the Classrm (C2C) resurces and the schl uses an alternative year level apprach in the primary sectr t address multi-age curriculum delivery. There was limited evidence f a whle-schl curriculum plan being used t mnitr Australian Curriculum alignment acrss the schl. The schl supprts classrm teachers t identify and address the learning needs f individual students. Teachers wrk at understanding where individual students are in their learning t identify starting pints fr teaching. Teachers mnitr the prgress f individual students and adjust their teaching in respnse t the prgress that individuals are making. Interventins are in place fr students identified as requiring additinal supprt. Schl leaders recgnise that highly effective teaching is the key t imprving student learning thrughut the schl and they take a strng leadership rle t supprt teachers understand and use effective teaching methds t maximise student learning. The schl leadership team is familiar with research n effective teaching practices and references the Art and Science f Teaching 1 (AST) framewrk as the guide fr teacher instructinal develpment. They establish and cmmunicate clear expectatins arund the use f effective teaching strategies thrughut the schl and mnitr these thrugh frequent bservatin and feedback. The schl builds strng partnerships with the wider cmmunity. There are encuraging cnnectins with lcal businesses and cmmunity rganisatins t imprve pprtunities and utcmes fr students. Develp a schl Prfessinal Learning Plan that aligns t the schl imprvement agenda and clearly sets ut essential knwledge and skills that will underpin the imprvement pririties and individualise the areas f staff develpment that have been identified. Develp a whle-schl curriculum plan acrss all curriculum areas which is clearly aligned t the Australian Curriculum and tracks required assessment and the vertical alignment f curriculum acrss all year levels.
