3 1.3 Review methdlgy The review was cnducted by a team f three reviewers. 4 2. Executive summary 2.1 Key findings A large f number f schl pririties are identified in the Annual Imprvement Plan (AIP). The three main pririties are identified as - unrelenting cntinuus imprvement, critical reflectin f practice and high expectatins f everyne. Mst staff identified the key schl imprvement strategies as behaviur and adpting the Australian Curriculum. The schl is prpsing t develp a whle-schl data cllectin schedule. Student behaviur data is cllected and analysed by the behaviur team using the Effective Behaviur Supprt (EBS) self-assessment survey and the Schl-wide Evaluatin Tl (SET). There is limited evidence f the systematic analysis f student achievement data. Schl leaders are attempting t drive a schl culture f high expectatins and a fcus n learning fr all students. Teachers and teacher aides are supprtive f the Schl Wide Psitive Behaviur (SWPBS) apprach. The schl has a clear set f whle-schl student expectatins and prtcls knwn as the Hervey Bay Rules - be safe, be respectful and be a learner. Teachers are implementing the Curriculum int the Classrm (C2C) units f wrk fr students with disabilities in English, Mathematics, Science and Histry. The schl prvides teachers with units f wrk thrugh OneNte. Teachers cmplete ne unit f wrk per learning area acrss a semester. The schl has develped a draft whle-schl curriculum verview fr implementatin in 2016 in the areas f English, Mathematics, Science, Histry and Health and Physical Educatin (HPE). The dcument utlines the assessments students will engage in t determine curriculum access pints. The schl has a draft pedaggical framewrk based n the Art and Science f Teaching. The current draft dcument has nt yet identified a research base which can be cnsistently applied acrss the schl. A dcumented whle-schl, evidence-based apprach t develping staff capability in special educatin pedaggies is yet t be develped and implemented. 4

5 The schl is yet t develp a whle-schl, evidenced-based framewrk t infrm instructin in a balanced literacy apprach. Teachers reprt an agreed and cnsistent apprach t literacy instructin which meets the needs f the full range f learners is yet t be develped. The engagement f staff in nging and cnsistent prfessinal learning is nt yet evident. The schl leadership team is yet t utilise partnerships with leaders in ther schls t build supprt netwrks and their wn prfessinal learning. The HOC and Master Teacher are members f the reginal special educatin HOC netwrk. Hwever, the schl leadership team are yet t capitalise n the knwledge and experience f ther schls with similar schl imprvement pririties t assist them with their imprvement agenda. 5

6 2.2 Key imprvement strategies Widely cmmunicate a narrw and sharpened imprvement agenda t staff, parents and the wider schl cmmunity. Develp and implement a schl data plan t guide the systematic cllectin and analysis f schl wide student achievement, behaviur and attendance data. Review and cmmunicate a cnsistent and agreed schl-wide apprach t managing students with challenging behaviur. Develp teacher knwledge and understanding f the Australian Curriculum and hw it applies t ensuring a relevant and meaningful curriculum fr every student. Include the use f apprpriate teaching and learning pprtunities. Review, implement and embed a relevant and authentic evidenced-based pedaggical framewrk. Build teacher knwledge and capacity in delivering balanced, evidence-based literacy instructin acrss schl. Develp a strategy fr utilising partnerships with ther schls and schl leaders. 6
