4 4 Lng-Term Player Develpment (LTPD) LTPD is designed t give players an ptimal sccer experience at every stage by putting their needs frnt and centre: player develpment, training, cmpetitin, and recvery. LTPD is player-centered, cach driven, and supprted by administratin, sprt science, and spnsrs. LTPD: Eliminates gaps in the player develpment system. Guides planning fr ptimal athlete perfrmance at all stages. Prvides a framewrk fr prgram alignment and integratin, frm vlunteer club caches t natinal and prfessinal teams. Fllws scientific principles and practical caching experiences. Benefits fr players & parents: Better understanding f what makes a gd sccer prgram. Mre players learning at their level and having fun. Apprpriate game and league structures (e.g. size f balls, gals, field etc.). Mre pprtunity fr players t realize their athletic ptential. Mre caches wh are knwledgeable in leading safe, effective practices. Benefits fr caches & clubs: Infrmatin and educatin n effective caching and practice methds. 5 5 Player Develpment Pathway The game within Nva Sctia prvides a number f unique challenges t the verall delivery f player develpment prgramming. These challenges include addressing the gegraphical make up f ur prvince and the harmnizatin f player and caching develpment. The prpsed changes t the recgnized prvincial prgram structure cnsiders the effectiveness f the prgram, addressing the level f resurces effecting all stakehlders fr the grwth f the game at all levels and aligning the prgram in preparatin fr a Canada Sccer club centred develpmental league. The result is a prgram that is develped t imprve the end bjective f the prgram, btaining pprtunities fr players t mve frm stage 4 Train t Train t stage 4.5 Learn t Cmpete with an invite int the EXCEL stream, with the female REX prgram and male Whitecaps prgram, r cncluding with stage 5 Train t Cmpete r stage 6 Train t Win. The changes twards the existing structure will assist the Sccer Develpment Department in becming mre efficient and prgressive in implementing prvince wide develpment prgramming. It has becme essential t the lng-term success f player develpment within Nva Sctia that Sccer NS and its Lng Term Player Develpment Cmmittee take the lead in establishing, guiding and mnitring a recgnized path fr develpment within the prvince fr Nva Sctia's players. This initiative includes the partnering f ur member clubs and districts int ur verall pathway f develpment. Sccer NS LTPD Cmmittee

6 6 Missin Statement Thrugh inclusive leadership we will prvide Nva Sctia players with sustainable sccer pprtunities f excellence. Under the directin and leadership f Sccer Nva Sctia s sccer develpment department, the Sccer Nva Sctia High Perfrmance Pathway has been established acrss the prvince. The aim f the prgrams are t create and sustain bth player and cach develpment pprtunities f excellence. The high perfrmance prgrams will prvide cnsistent aligned prgrams frm EXCEL t prvincial prgramming fr selected players and caches, with an nging bjective f creating a higher standard at the prvincial league level thrugh a develpmental league imprving leagues, clubs and districts. The Sccer Nva Sctia prvincial prgram will deliver n the fllwing key develpment initiatives: Supprt Canada Sccer s Player First mentality and it s Lng Term Player Develpment strategy Harmnize all high perfrmance level f prgramming Eliminate cngestin and prvides greater clarity fr all stakehlders Wrk within existing and supprting structures Drive imprvements t all aspects f high perfrmance sccer Respect and Fair Play Prepare and innvate fr the future In additin the Sccer Nva Sctia prvincial prgram is built n the fllwing guiding cre principles f develpment. T expse players t further develp their skills in an apprpriate 11-aside envirnment, this includes ther technically advanced players playing within a cmpetitive and demanding atmsphere. 2. T enhance the technical and tactical cmpnents f the players game thrugh 11-aside games and ff field training and educatin. 3. T prvide the players with access t certified, experienced and prfessinal levels f caching. 4. T prvide leadership and infrmatin n life skills and prmte the imprtance f cmmitment t excellence and citizenship. 5. 8 8 Caching Develpment Caching Standards All caches selected t cntribute twards the Sccer Nva Sctia prvincial prgram must share and wrk twards Sccer Nva Sctia s missin, values, principles and cmpetencies. As caches: We shuld be passinate fr the game and pass n this passin, encuraging thers t develp a lifelng lve f the game. Our values shuld be respnsive t the needs f ur players and sccer in general. We must be accuntable t thse they wrk with and the sccer cmmunity at large. We shuld be challenging in ur wrk and bring ut the best in ur players. We need t ensure aligned game mdels, cmpetencies and develpmental principles are cmmunicated and adhered t. We shuld be able t cmmunicate and influence thse arund us, taking wnership f the game. We shuld be actively invlved in nging cach educatin pprtunities Cde f Cnduct - Cach 1. The cach agrees t dress and wear apprpriate attire whenever he/she is representing the prvincial prgram n and ff the field f play and must cnduct themselves at all times in an apprpriate manner. 2. Respect and cnsideratin must be shwn twards all Sccer Nva Sctia staff, players, fficials, ppnents, public and all vlunteers wh are invlved in hsting a game r event. 3. Caches must adhere t any rules set ut by Sccer Nva Sctia, its sccer develpment technical department and the Sccer Nva Sctia Prvincial Prgram Operatins Manual - Technical. 4. All caching and technical staff must demnstrate respnsible behaviur within all training and match envirnments. 5. All caches and technical staff must respect and adhere t rules and regulatins pertaining t cnduct within the fficial prvincial prgram 11-aside matches. 6. All Sccer Nva Sctia prvincial prgram caches must agree t sign Sccer Nva Sctia prvincial prgram Cde f Cnduct agreement. 7. The use f tbacc, cnsumptin r pssessin f alchl and illegal substances is nt supprted and may nt be cnsumed befre r whilst perfrming Sccer Nva Sctia prvincial prgram fficial duties in the presence f minrs. 9 9 Vilatin f Caching Standards, Cde f Cnduct and Guidelines Any member f staff, cach and vlunteer wh is deemed t have cntravened the abve standards, cde f cnduct and guidelines may be subject t discipline actin. This discipline actin may take the frm f and nt limited t the fllwing: Sccer Nva Sctia internal actin Sccer Nva Sctia Prvincial Prgram suspensin r remval Head Cach, Assistant Cach & Team Manager It is recmmended that all Sccer Nva Sctia prvincial prgram teams will include the fllwing caches and supprt staff within recgnized prgram years: 1. Head Cach and Assistant Cach 2. Manager 3. Like gender caching requirement a preference Qualificatins As the Sccer Nva Sctia prvincial prgram is built upn a PLAYER FIRST mentality regarding verall player, team and caching develpment, there is an essential requirement t identify apprpriate caching standards in the prgram which is supprted by Lng Term Player Develpment plan (LTPD): STAGE 4: Training t Train LTPD s recmmendatins fr apprpriate caching certificatin standards are imperative in these stages f develpment. The minimum caching certificatin standards are as fllws: Caching Leads - B License Part 2 (Certified) + MED Mentee Staff - C License (Trained) + MED *Natinal federatin equivalency t be based n a case-by-case situatin Cach Stipends Sccer Nva Sctia will financially cmpensate head caches nce all bligatins are cmplete the fllwing: Lead cach - $1,000 & all travel cmpensated *Nte - Head and assistant cach rles f travel teams will be cnfirmed at the time f hiring. 10 10 Head Cach Appintments It is recmmended that all Head Caches meet the fllwing pre-requisites prir t appintment: 1. Experience caching and/r playing at a high perfrmance level f cmpetitin is an asset. 2. Experience wrking with technlgy t supprt player develpment. 3. Wrking knwledge f the English language. 4. Must be willing t submit a criminal recrd check (CPIC). 5. Head cach must hld a valid passprt. 6. It is nt recmmended that the head cach have a sn r daughter participating within the age level which they are applying t cach. 7. Must be willing t wrk in cnjunctin with the Canadian Sccer Assciatin and Sccer Nva Sctia. This wuld include a cmmitment t Canada Sccer LTPD standards, REX and Vancuver Whitecaps philsphies as it relates t respnsible yuth develpment and caching certificatin and nging educatin. Assistant Cach Appintments It is recmmended that all assistant caches meet the fllwing pre-requisites prir t appintment: 1. Experience caching and/r playing at a high perfrmance level f cmpetitin wuld be an asset. 2. Experience wrking with technlgy t supprt player develpment. 3. Wrking knwledge f the English language. 4. Must be willing t submit t a criminal recrd check. 5. Assistant cach must hld a valid passprt. 6. It is nt recmmended that the assistant cach have a sn r daughter participating within the age level which they are applying t cach. 8. Must be willing t wrk in cnjunctin with the Canadian Sccer Assciatin. Sccer Nva Sctia fr player develpment. This wuld include a cmmitment t Canada Sccer LTPD standards, REX & Vancuver Whitecaps philsphies as it relates t respnsible yuth develpment and caching certificatin and nging educatin. *Teams will be required t have a like gender caching appintment n staff with every team. Sccer Nva Sctia Cach Mentrship Prgram Sccer Nva Sctia will lk t integrate a mentrship prgram int the prvincial prgram. The prgram has the pprtunity fr sixteen mentee caches t be recruited/appinted with the bjective f the cach understanding and aligning the game mdel, philsphy and cmpetencies f the EXCEL prgrams fr integratin int their club system. Mentee cach must hld a valid passprt. 5. It is nt recmmended that the mentee cach have a sn r daughter participating within the age level which they are applying t cach 9. Prgram Objectives 1. Educatin - Caches t understand the EXCEL game mdel, philsphies & cmpetencies 2. Outcme-fcused All caching activities must make a psitive cntributin t achieving a pre-determined cach develpment gal. 3. Player-centred Based n the needs f the player in the prvincial prgram and aligned t the stage f develpment f that player. 4. Technlgy Integrated Trained & understand the benefits f technlgy t assist in the players develpment. 5. Flexible T meet the range and needs f the mentee cach. 6. Hlistic Fcus n the whle persn, nt just the sccer cmpnents. 7. Ownership T create a highly skilled cach requires individuals t accept respnsibility fr wning, creating, maintaining and imprving the envirnment in which they wrk and learn. 8. Cntinuus Imprvement Highly skilled caches must have an inherent thirst fr knwledge. They lk beynd the results and the utcme f the game t ensure that tmrrw s perfrmance is better than tday s. Every caching situatin is an pprtunity t learn. Learning, therefre, never ends. 9. A prvincial cach must cmbine the mst effective traditinal methds f instructin with the mst mdern advances in learning. Therefre a prvincial cach shuld: a. Use the traditinal passive methd f direct instructin but cuple it with b. Mdern active methds like guided discvery and questining Sccer NS LTPD Cmmittee

12 12 Active methds make the learner mre accuntable fr his/her wn learning and are shwn t prduce higher levels f understanding and retentin f infrmatin. Female Mentee Cach Develpment Initiatives The Sccer Nva Sctia prvincial prgram must prvide pprtunities fr female mentee caches t wrk clsely with ther female caches within the Sccer Nva Sctia prvincial prgram. The gal f this initiative is t create an atmsphere where by these mentee caches may learn in a high perfrmance, exciting, educatinal and safe envirnment. It is the hpe this experience will encurage them t cntinue their path f develpment as a cach and make a cmmitment t a lifelng invlvement in the caching f players at all levels f play within Nva Sctia. Cach Orientatin All caches appinted t the prgram must attend an rientatin in Octber. This date will be made aware at the time f the applicatin r appintment. The rientatin will be a full day and lcated at the BMO Sccer Centre. Caches are required t bring a laptp and all necessary active equipment t participate. Sccer NS LTPD Cmmittee

13 13 Manager Rles & Respnsibilities All managers selected t cntribute twards the Sccer Nva Sctia prvincial prgram must share and wrk twards Sccer Nva Sctia s missin, values, principles and cmpetencies. As managers: We shuld be passinate fr the game and pass n this passin, encuraging thers t develp a lifelng lve f the game. Our values shuld be respnsive t the needs f ur players and sccer in general. We must be accuntable t thse they wrk with and the sccer cmmunity at large. We shuld be accessible and supprtive t thse families invlved. We shuld be able t cmmunicate and assist thse arund us. We shuld be able t plan, schedule & recrd all matters related t the Sccer Nva Sctia prvincial prgram The manager will be a lead fr all matters related t: Cmmunicating any matters related t his/her team as assigned Assisting in cllecting cheque payments Recrding all necessary infrmatin int GalLine Assisting and supprting with preparing necessary needs fr travel Leading and supprting with any travel cmmitments Manager Appintments It is recmmended that all managers meet the fllwing pre-requisites prir t appintment: 1. Experience managing a sprts prgram/team. 2. Experience wrking with GalLine. 3. Wrking knwledge f the English language. 4. Must be willing t submit t a criminal recrd check. 5. Manager must hld a valid passprt. Manager Orientatin All manager appinted t the prgram must attend an rientatin in December. This date will be made aware at the time f the applicatin r appintment. The rientatin will be an evening and lcated at the BMO Sccer Centre. Sccer NS LTPD Cmmittee

14 14 Player Selectin Plicies and Prcedures Player Eligibility A player wh is in gd standing and registered within Sccer Nva Sctia and is within the age categries as defined by Sccer Nva Sctia. Player Priritizatin Fllwing the selectin t Sccer Nva Sctia prvincial prgram, all players must be aware that the Sccer Nva Sctia prvincial prgram takes pririty ver any additinal sccer prgramming. Participating within supprtive sccer develpment prgramming and additinal sprt develpment prgramming during the duratin f that year s U12 Academy is permitted if it meets LTPD standards as it relates t apprpriate maturatin f players. (See LTPD Stages f Develpment) If additinal sccer and sprt activities interferes with recgnized prgramming and scheduling, participatin is nt recmmended s t prevent and avid the fllwing; Increase f injury and ver training Annual schedule cngestin Adherence t the recgnized peridizatin plan The exemptin t this plicy is the selectin f a player t Sccer EXCEL Prgramming, Canada Sccer and Vancuver Whitecaps spnsred high perfrmance initiatives, Natinal Team Prgramming and invitatin fr an fficial trial r develpment pprtunity at a recgnized prfessinal club as defined within the FIFA club membership. This will be recgnized and supprted by Sccer Nva Sctia. 15 15 Under Age Player Plicy Sccer Nva Sctia and its Pathway fr Player Develpment supprt the philsphy f cntinually challenging its member players. Players ptentially mving up an age grup within the Sccer Nva Sctia Prvincial Prgram will need t meet the fllwing guidelines: Technical Ability A player must demnstrate a high degree f individual skill which must be transferable t cmpetitive match situatins. In additin, a player s individual skill must meet r excel the technical abilities f ther participating players within the age grup the player wishes t participate with. Physical Ability A player must surpass ther players within their age grup in physical strength, technical skill and speed, and have the ability t blend in with players f the intended age grup. Mental Ability Player must surpass ther players within their age grup in game awareness and general knwledge f the game. Including the mental strength that will be necessary when dealing with lder and physically superir ppnents. Scial Ability Player must be able t interact with players within the intended age grup n and ff the field (games, dressing rm, training and scial gatherings). The selectin f an underage player will be supprted by the High Perfrmance Manager if the player meets these guidelines. Sccer NS LTPD Cmmittee

16 16 Prgram Overview Identificatin (May-August) Players wh participated in the Sccer Nva Sctia Prvincial Prgram the previus year will autmatically be invited t tryut unless the player was released fr breaking the cde f cnduct. Sccer Nva Sctia staff will be bserving the existing prvincial league and making recmmendatins t the High Perfrmance Manager. Reginal/Club technical directrs will be asked t make recmmendatins prir t the end f the seasn t the High Perfrmance Manager. Players will receive an fficial invitatin frm Sccer Nva Sctia technical department via their reginal/club technical directrs. Tryuts (Nvember) Tryuts will take place utdrs in Nvember. The U13 & U14 players will take place in early Nvember & the U15-U17 players twards the end f Nvember. Tryut cst - $30. Must register & pay t cnfirm attendance prir t tryut. All selectins will be selected using a matrix/tl aligned with the cmpetencies f the EXCEL prgrams. Players wh are nt selected can request feedback. Hwever, feedback will be infrmal due t the large number f players participating. Selectins will be annunced 10 days after the tryut. Players will be selected int fur teams (apprx players) in the fllwing age grups: U13-U14 30 players selected in each age classificatin & gender U15-U17 20 players selected in each age classificatin & gender Once selectins have been annunced players & parents will have five wrking days t register nline in rder t allw apprpriate time fr unifrm rders. 17 17 11-aside Mini Prvincial League Sccer Nva Sctia Prvincial Prgram will perate as a mini 11-aside league fr thse players selected. Players will be placed int balance teams and cmpete in tw 11-aside games nce a mnth including classrm vide analysis and pre-brief meetings. Prgram cst - $425 and includes: Eight 11-aside games inc. fficials Eight classrm sessins t take place prir t the 11-aside game. The bjective will be t identify, supprt, discver the game mdel, values, principles and cmpetencies f the prgram. Medical leads available at all games Access t VidSwap fr all vide analysis purpses t be aligned with game mdel, values, principles and cmpetencies. Tw player feedback assessments t be aligned with game mdel, values, principles and cmpetencies. Full unifrm - Adidas Blue jersey White jersey Shrts Scks *Extras unifrm needs, tracksuits & bags t be purchased and available via supplier. **Players selected will require a tracksuit t travel. Each divisin will have fur teams: U13-U14 Male U13-U14 Female U15-U17 Male U15-U17 Female Fur mnth prvincial weekends fr 11-aside cmpetitin. Caches are t deliver mandatry classrm sessins prir t the 11-aside game in cnjunctin with the technlgy tls prvided by Sccer Nva Sctia t identify, supprt, discver the game mdel, values, principles and cmpetencies f the prgram. All 11-aside games will be recrded and analyzed with VidSwap (See VidSwap Tutrial Dcument) Caches are expected t engage players remtely t: Review 11-aside game Cmplete tasks t identify, supprt, discver the game mdel, values, principles and cmpetencies f the prgram. 20 20 11-aside Rules & Game Management Game Frmat 11-aside Field dimensins shall be per FIFA regulatins. Gals shall be per FIFA regulatins. Incmplete Games In the event that a game cannt cntinue thrugh full regulatin play, the game shall cunt prvided seventy-five percent (75%) f the game was cmpleted. The referee shall have the final decisin n suspensin f matches due t weather r field cnditins. Game Sheets Due t the game being cmpetitive, game sheets will be required. The manager f each team will prvide and submit t the fficial. The manager f each team shall verify the accuracy f game sheets and btain a signed cpy frm the match fficials after the match. The manager f the winning team will submit all infrmatin pertaining t the game sheet via GalLine. 21 21 Player Guidelines Successfully selected players fr the Sccer Nva Sctia prvincial must be aware they are representing their club and Nva Sctia within the prgram. Players will be judged based n their perfrmances n and ff the field f play, as an individual and as a member f a team. Their persnal cnduct, bth in and ut f cmpetitin, reflects upn the prgram and their Club Teams image and is the respnsibility f the player t safeguard the reputatin and pride f thse wh they represent. Cde f Cnduct - Players 1. All players must sign a cde f cnduct when selected fr the Sccer Nva Sctia Prvincial Prgram 2. The player agrees t dress and wear identified attire whenever he/she are representing the prvince f Nva Sctia. He/she is t cnduct in an apprpriate manner at all times. 3. Respect and cnsideratin must be shwn twards all Sccer Nva Sctia staff, teammates, fficials, ppnents, public and all vlunteers wh are invlved in hsting a game r event. 4.
