2 Summary Jb Descriptin Blue Ventures, an award-winning UK-based marine cnservatin rganisatin is currently seeking a highly mtivated and experienced Expeditin Manager t lead its newest marine cnservatin Expeditin in Timr-Leste. The psitin is paid, and fr a perid f 12 mnths. The primary rle f the Expeditin Manager invlves leading a team f up t five staff and ecturism vlunteers, representing Blue Ventures interests, and directing the efficient day t day running f the Expeditin and research camp. The successful applicant must have gd physical fitness, experience f managing a budget, experience f living and wrking in the develping wrld, and the mtivatin and enthusiasm required t wrk lng hurs in a challenging trpical envirnment. Successful expeditin management requires excellent cmmunicatin, leadership, diplmatic and interpersnal skills. In additin, the chsen applicant must have the initiative t develp innvate slutins t the variety f cmplex lgistical and managerial prblems that will present themselves during the curse f the psitin. Fundamental t the psitin are an ability t anticipate prblems befre they arise and t react quickly and efficiently under pressure. Applicants will be qualified t a minimum f PADI Dive Master level r equivalent, with a keen interest in marine bilgy, cnservatin and sustainable develpment. The psitin will include an initial in-field training perid, which will give the successful applicant time t familiarise his r herself with the wrkings f the site.

3 Respnsibilities T supervise the verall running f the field based expeditin in Timr-Leste, and guide staff and vlunteers accrdingly. Ensure the successful cmpletin f all expeditin cnservatin, eclgical and sci-ecnmic prjects by prviding and making available t the expeditin staff the resurces required t carry this ut. Oversee the use and maintenance f all prject equipment and resurces. Prvide guidance and supprt t all expeditin members n-site as required. Anticipate prblems where pssible befre they arise and react quickly and efficiently under pressure. Manage the expeditin budget efficiently and accurately. Take respnsibility fr all emplyment issues f the Expeditins team f verseas and lcal staff. T maintain the mrale and enthusiasm f staff and vlunteers, whilst wrking n bth prjects and the day-t-day tasks fr running the camp. Maintain gd wrking relatinships between staff, vlunteers and lcal prject partners, ensuring the efficient running f prjects. Shuld be seen as apprachable in all situatins, as well as cnfident in a leadership rle. Assist the cnservatin staff in the delivery f the aims, bjectives and strategic plan f the Blue Ventures Cnservatin prjects in Timr-Leste. T versee the health and safety f all expeditin members and staff n-site at all times. Shuld be able t deal with any incidents shuld they arise, and act efficiently with the implementatin f innvative slutins.

4 Cnduct regular risk assessments as part f an verall risk management plan. Be able t versee and carry ut an rderly emergency evacuatin prcedure if necessary. Additinal management duties. Supprt diving and science staff n site with the day-t-day running f dive lgistics. Ensure that site rules and regulatins are respected and adhered t by all persnnel. Cntribute t Blue Ventures scial media and cmmunicatins utput t raise awareness f Blue Ventures expeditins. Oversee and carry ut additinal administrative wrk n site, including stcktaking, equipment rdering, and crrespndence with UK ffice. Requirements Qualificatins/Skills Required PADI Divemaster qualificatin (r equivalent). Understanding and experience f the challenges f living and wrking in a small cmmunity in the Develping Wrld. The cmpetence, drive and initiative t supervise a majr expeditin prgramme, wrking in a remte castal envirnment. Leadership skills and experience, shwing the initiative required t develp innvative slutins t the diverse cmplex prblems that can arise during an expeditin. Management and recruitment experience, mst imprtantly a strng track recrd in mtivating bth teams and individuals. Ability and experience t manage a budget efficiently and accurately. Excellent ral and written English. Excellent interpersnal and mtivatinal skills.

5 Qualificatin/Skills Desired PADI Open Water Scuba Instructr and Emergency First Respnse Instructr. Prject management skills as well as experience f leading expeditins (ideally verseas) and wrking with vlunteers. Training and teaching experience bth at a ne t ne and grup level. Knwledge and experience f accunts. Expeditin leadership experience r qualificatins.
