President Ed Soja Hello, skiers and snowboarders. Winter is fast approaching and things are starting to stir in the ski industry. Ski shops are open with great deals and merchandise and the ski resorts are getting ready for another season. I can t wait to hear who will be the first ski area to open. A great way to hear about what s happening in the ski industry is to come to the FDSC Winter Sports Night. Come on out and talk to the ski vendors and enjoy the general meeting. Winter Sports Night will be held at the Riveredge on the first Thursday in November and takes the place of our normal meeting at the Liederkranz. The Riveredge is located off of Rt. 183 just south of the Reading Airport. Come out and see the latest in ski and snowboarding gear and find out what s happening this year at the ski resorts. You may even be lucky enough to win a fabulous door prize. There always a lot going on in the FDSC. So make sure you read through your Ski Trails newsletters and keep checking the club's website and Facebook pages. We'd hate for you to miss one moment of fun. Remember, we are back to two meetings a month, held on the first and third Thursdays of the month. The first meeting in November will be Winter Sports Night, held at the Riveredge, and then we are back at the Liederkranz. So come on out and join the fun. Ed WINTER SPORTS NIGHT Thursday, November 3rd Doors open at 6:15pm at the Riveredge General Meeting at 8pm See the newest ski & snowboard gear. Visit with our guest winter resorts and sponsors. Coming on December 1st will be a presentation by Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area. See you at the meetings! Lori
3 Competition Mark David Greetings, racers! We all need to thank Paul and Marge Prutzman for hosting the race team picnic. It was a good time with marginal weather. (Not our fault!!!) There are only five weeks left until the openers at Killington, (Dec 9, 10, 11), so get your skis out and tune them razor sharp. Anyone going to ASRA events on Monday nights at Blue, if you need a ride call me and I can usually help. SEE YOU ON THE HILL, Mark Social Director Patti Spitler Once again I ve been slow to the challenge. All I have to set up for social events is the Winter Carnival. I have not finalized everything, but please keep your eyes and ears tuned for upcoming details. If I can get all the details complete for Winter Carnival, I will be selling tickets at Winter Sports night, so please bring your checkbooks. Thanks, and keep on talking! Patti RELAY FOR LIFE CORNER The Mohegan Sun bus trip has been postponed until 2012 due to a price increase for the bus. We'll be back in touch with more information soon. Candy, Carol, Sherry, & Patti. Trippin Kevin Claypoole Hey, Skiers and Boarders, Bring friends and family to Winter Sports Night at The Riveredge. Most Trips have some openings and we need your help filling them up. Ring in the New Year on the Mt. Tremblant/ Montreal Trip! We need some more participants for the EPSC Winter Carnival Trip to Steamboat. We d like to take back the Trophy! The Instructional, the Family Trip, Stratton, and Elk still have openings on their buses. Mammoth--a great destination we haven t been to in a long time--has openings! Please help by telling friends, family, co-workers, etc. to fill these trips. Remember to thank the Trip Leaders for putting together a great bunch of trips. We need your support. Don t forget your payment schedules for the trips you signed up for. Stay in shape for ski season by hiking, biking, and ski conditioning class. See you at The Riveredge. Kevin Lodge Paul Schwartz By the time this is in print, Workers Weekend and Open House are behind us. Let me thank all the participants in advance. I ll provide a wrap-up next month. The new fireplace insert is in. This should reduce our heating and firewood costs, and add value to the property. Winter rates apply starting December 16th. Weekend rates are $550 for the entire Lodge. Several weekends are already booked. If you re interested in a weekend, don t wait! Meanwhile, there are plenty of fall weekends left, and the area is a great place for fall hiking, hunting, and just getting away, and for only $300. Remember, the Lodge is only 20 minutes from Camelback and Jack Frost. With seven bedrooms, you can split costs and have a very inexpensive weekend of skiing. Paul Membership Bob Fehl Thank you to all of those who have renewed their membership. It's never too late to renew and it is only $35 per year. I would remind you that there are many benefits, including discounts at ski shops, discount lift tickets at Bear Creek and Blue Mountain, as well as discount lift tickets at most New England ski slopes through EPSC. And of course there are many social events, happy hours, ski lessons and Ski Trails. This will be the last issue of Ski Trails for those who have not yet renewed. See me at Winter Sports Night on Nov. 3rd held at The Riveredge to renew. For those who have, I will be handing out Membership cards. Bob Past President Rick Auchenbach Hello Skiers & Snowboarders, I want to remind you about the Philly Winter Expo happening Sunday, November 6th.
