2 Hckey Training Camp Infrmatin Players wh sign up fr the league are autmatically registered fr ne f these 3-sessin camps Camp schedule subject t change based n enrllment Please pay attentin t alerts fr updates Beginners 5:00-6:00 PM (weekdays-); Saturday 9am 10am Age 7 and under r lder beginners Emphasis is n basic skating, as well as stick handling, passing, and shting. Intermediate 6:00-7:00 PM (weekdays-); Saturday 10am 11am Emphasis n prper turning, stpping, backward skating Develp mre effective stick handling, passing and shting Generally, fr players with 2-4 years f experience. Advanced 7:00-8:00 PM (weekdays-); Saturday 11am 12nn Emphasis n gaining speed n crss-ver turns; pwer skating using the bards; tight turns; advanced stick handling, passing and shting and ffensive and defensive techniques. League Play Infrmatin We endeavr t schedule at least 13 games fr each team. A 1-hur mandatry practice will be held each week starting with games played every Saturday (mrning r afternn) There are ccasinally games n Friday evenings in rder t rund ut the schedule A team that plays n Friday night will als play that Saturday. 3 General Requirements All games and all practices will be at Breakaway Rec-Plex lcated at 6301 U.S. 127 Suth - just suth f Celina. Practice times will be annunced after the registratin and training camp ends. All Winter League practices will be n Mnday, Tuesday r Thursday evenings. If yu have a preference fr practice day, r if yu need t be n the same team r same practice day as anther player, please nte it n the registratin frm. This is nt fr picking friends it is mre fr family r thse travelling lnger distances tgether and nly if an abslute necessity. Players are t be at the rink at least 15 minutes prir t their practice and game times s he/she has time t put n their equipment prir t practice/play. Equipment Requirements The fllwing equipment is required befre any player can enter the area inside the rink bards: We d have limited supplies f equipment available fr use at n charge. Helmet including full-face mask and chinstrap Stick Shin Guards Skates NO SKATE BRAKES ALLOWED; als, sft wheels recmmended Hckey Glves Elbw pads A muth guard and cup (fr bys) is highly recmmended but nt required Disciplinary Plicy Guiding Principles Our gal at WNW is t discipline ut f lve; nt t punish in a spiteful manner. Our hpe is that relatinships wuld actually be strengthened and nt hurt when discipline ccurs. We desire t build relatinships with players and families. We believe rules withut relatinships = rebellin. We understand there can be gray areas fr certain ffenses r situatins. We will strive t be as cnsistent as pssible with discipline, but we ask fr yur understanding when we seek t strengthen relatinships during disciplinary situatins. We understand that we cannt be everywhere at nce and therefre we may nt be aware f every ffense. We ask fr yur understanding as we strive t handle these situatins after the fact r thse based n rumr. The ptential disciplinary situatins listed abve (ie, swearing, disrespect, etc) are the rare exceptin t daily life at WNW. We thank yu fr yur past cperatin. Serving a suspensin des nt autmatically result in a player s return: A public ffense may require a public aplgy. Fr example, a player wh makes a crude gesture tward the bleachers will be required t aplgize t fans. A private ffense may require a private aplgy. Fr example, a player wh mumbles smething disrespectful t a ref may be required t aplgize t the ref. Head caches have discretinary authrity t issue partial, full r multiple-game suspensins t their players. Head caches d nt have authrity t expel a player frm the league. Assistant caches d nt have authrity t discipline players except in the absence f the head cach. Referees have authrity t immediately remve a player frm a game. Cmmissiners retain the authrity t remve a player frm the league. Thse remved frm the league are barred frm the building during the WNW seasn. Miscnduct n the part f parents, guardians r family members may als result in the remval f the family frm the prgram. Players may appeal suspensins and expulsins t the cmmissiners in writing. If an ffense earning a game suspensin ccurs past the midway pint f a game, the suspensin carries ver t the fllwing game. Fr example, a player curses at a ref with 10 minutes remaining in a game. He is suspended until 10 minutes remain in the fllwing game. At that pint, the cach shuld nt ver play the player but rather shuld cntinue t fllw equal playing time rules fr the remainder f the game. Players serving a suspensin are required t attend practice and games. They must dress fr games and sit the bench, and they can still get a verse-gal fr their team (cnversely, the team lses a gal if the player desn t knw the verse). 4 Disciplinary Plicy (cntinued) Actins r activities which require a disciplinary respnse This is nt an exhaustive list. Offenses nt specified here will be dealt with at the discretin f the caches and cmmissiners. Swearing / Obscene Gestures Any player swearing r making bscene gestures during a game will be assessed at a minimum a minr penalty fr unsprtsmanlike cnduct; r a majr penalty depending n the severity. Any player swearing r making bscene gestures utside f the game (ie, in the dressing rm), will be left t the cach s discretin fr the cnsequence but at a minimum the player must sit at least ne perid at the start f their next game. Multiple incidents will result in increased cnsequences. The cach will discuss the matter with the WNW Cmmissiners. Penalties culd vary frm 2- minute minr penalty, t majr penalty (5 min r 10 min), t game suspensin, t seasn suspensin r mre, depending n the situatin. Dress cde vilatins Players are nt allwed t remve clthing dwn t their underwear. Players are nt allwed t wear clthing that reveals an excessive amunt f skin, including belly buttns, cleavage, chest. Shirts that reveal the bdy s sides, chest, abdmen, etc, are nt allwed. Players als are nt allwed t wear clthing that is deemed ptentially ffensive by the caches r cmmissiners. 1st infractin: Player must sit at least ne perid at the beginning f the next game. Additinal respnse may be required (such as an aplgy t affected peple). 2nd infractin: Player must sit the next game (ne game suspensin). Additinal respnse may be required, such as an aplgy. 3rd infractin: Pssible seasn suspensin, fllwing discussin with cach and WNW cmmissiners. Disrespectful behavir Players must be respectful t ther players, referees, all caches, ther adults. 1st infractin: Unsprtsmanlike cnduct penalty (if ffense ccurred during game). Cach s discretin if ccurred utside f game; ne-perid suspensin minimum. 2nd infractin: 1 perid suspensin minimum. Pssibly 1 game suspensin depending n severity. 3rd infractin: 1 game suspensin, pssible seasn suspensin fllwing meeting with cach and WNW cmmissiners. Aggressive behavir Fighting (anywhere in r related t the WNW facilities r prgram) results in minimum 2-game suspensin and pssible further suspensin such as additinal games, seasn suspensin r league suspensin, pending review by WNW cmmissiners Other aggressive behavir, such as checking during a game, will be handled accrding t game rules (ie, miscnduct penalty) and may result in suspensin frm future games pending review by referee, caches and WNW cmmissiners. Detrimental language twards WNW Players and families are expected t be respectful twards WNW by nt talking negatively abut the prgram. When issues r cmplaints arise, we ask players and parents t address them directly with the WNW Cmmissiners rather than publicly thrugh gssip. Players (r families) vilating this rule are subject t cnsequences ranging frm a ne-perid suspensin up t league suspensin, pending review by the WNW Cmmissiners. It is further warranted that such entry int the WNW & Rec-Plex grunds fr bservatin r use f any facilities r equipment r participatin in such affiliated prgram cnstitutes an acknwledgement that such premises and all facilities and equipment theren and such affiliated prgrams have been inspected and carefully cnsidered and that the undersigned finds and accepts same as being safe and reasnably suited fr the purpse f such bservatin, use, r participatin.
