WAY AHEAD OF WALK-OFF PACE--Yesterday s game-ending blast by Kendrys Morales secured Kansas City s third walk-off win of the year, joining the April 10 win over Minnesota and May 3 vs. the Washington Nationals...last year, the Royals didn t walk an opponent off until July 3 in the 77th game of the year...the Royals and Yankees were the last two teams in baseball to have a walk-off last year and each club accomplished it on July 3...as for Morales, it was his third career walk-off home run, first that didn t involve the Seattle Mariners...he hit a walk-off grand slam to beat the M s while playing for the Angels on May 29, 2010, but then missed the remainder of that year and the entire 2011 campaign after fracturing his ankle in the celebration...k-mo then ended a game as a member of the Mariners on June 23, 2013 with a blast. BONUS BASEBALL--Yesterday s 13-inning victory was just the second overtime affair for the Royals this year, also winning a 10-inning contest over Minnesota back on April 10...Kansas City was 10-6 in regular season extra-inning games last year, but then tacked on two more in the World Series, capping the title with a 12-inning win in Game #5.
