The play, drected by Dr. Davd Allson, wll be performed n Lloyd Audtorum at 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. Frday and Saturday. By JULE COZBY Copy A computerzed system nstalled at Lberty ths summer has made declaraton majors a hassle-free process. Most students wll no longer have to vst College General Studes at all. Formerly, declarng a major a very nvolved process. Students were requred to complete foundatonal studes and certan classes wthn r feld pror to declaraton; y would n fll out forms for College General Studes to process. A copy se forms sent to regstrar, student's advser and student. Now, elgble students need only to name r area nterest when y regster for classes at end semesters for r major to be automatcally declared for m. Exceptons to new declaraton process are students majorng n nursng and elementary and secondary educaton majors. Because se majors requre state lcensure, students n se felds must declare r majors under old system. Under new system, students are no longer requred to complete any classes wthn r feld study to declare. Once varous foundatonal studes are fulflled (Englsh 101 and 102, speech, one math course, General Educaton 101 and 102 and Evangelsm) students who have a GPA 2.0 or hgher wll have r major automatcally declared. Accordng to Justne Hahn, data manager for College General Studes, changes make declarng a more effcent process. "We have done away wth paperwork," she sad. Gong nto ths semester, more than 1,000 students were elgble to declare under new system. To nform students r "declared" status, fce General Studes has been sendng out red memorandums. "f you receved a memo you are declared," Hahn sad. Those who have not receved red memo are not declared; students who beleve y are elgble but have not been notfed need to contact Hahn at fce General Studes. Accordng to Hahn, an elgble student may not be declared for two reasons. "f we don't know your nterest area, we can't declare you," she sad. Also, students wth advsers outsde r department cannot be declared. t s student's responsblty to contact General Studes n case a change n major. "t's not a bg deal (to change majors)," Hahn sad, "But y need to keep up on what we have m as and what y really are." Elgble students who have not declared need to do so rght away, Hahn sad. She ponted out that declaraton s mportant so that students become mmune to status sheet changes whch may delay r graduaton.
