Truck Salesman - First of 2 in the cast to have started and drops into a claimer for the first time; has shown speed in all 4 of his appearances, including the most recent running short on the Del Mar lawn before yielding late; could carry that zip a long way today in his first start over this unique layout. 4. Gran Martillo - Macho Uno has clicked with 36 of 282 debut 2-year-olds while mom won 6 of 27 for 65K and will be getting her initial runner to the gate; modest worktab showing over at Santa Anita and siding with others. 5. Royal Aspirations - Rounds out the newbies; Goldencents is 10-for-59 with beginners from his first crop while the Congrats mare was winless in one outing and this is her first to reach the races; looks to have a good foundation off those Arcadia moves. 6. Runningwscissors - The other with experience and has flashed speed in the last trio, including his outing over this track during the Los Angeles County Fair meet where he chased home a runaway victor; neatly drawn on the outside with Gutierrez back at the controls. 3. Mela Jones - Makes first start since April; nothing doing in the route debut on the grass, a decent show finish in the mud at next asking and then gave way readily at most recent asking before going to the sidelines; modest Arcadia tab showing and must deal with the tricky rail. 2. Creative Contessa - Well backed in all 3 outings; rushed up and tired in Del Mar bow, turned in a solid runner-up finish at next asking and then you can draw a line through last month's miler at the seaside where she had some issues with the saddle and was eased in the lane; blinkers go back on and a trio of maintenance drills since the last start. 3. Ria Munk - Had a poor takeoff from the inside slot when unveiled in February at Santa Anita, made a mild move midway and then flattened out in the compact cast; turned in a nice 5- furlong spin across town last month and has to be respected with a clean start in the initial local try. 4. Witholding Info - Midnight Lute hits at 10% with his beginners and this will be the first to the races for the First Samurai mare, a multiple Grade I winner for Baffert who banked just shy of $1 million; been working in strong fashion over this layout and obviously deserves a lot of respect at first asking. 5. Scattering Mink - The late Scat Daddy has had 87 winners from 6 overall debut performers while the dam was winless in one start and has seen 1 of her 2 to the races get to the charmed circle; hails from Hall-of-Fame Mandella barn with Prat doing the honors. 6. A Little Unruly - Made a nice impression in that one appearance here during the summer meet, looming large at midstretch but unable to contain the winner while finishing well ahead of the rest; gets the perfect post with a nice drill showing last weekend and Van Dyke is back at the controls 6. Wicked Sunset - Shipped up to Fresno two months ago and responded to the class drop with a handy graduation, then found herself with too much to do in the initial try vs. winners down at the seaside; gets a much easier assignment this time around while racing over the track she calls home and certainly figures close. 2. Royal Astronomer - First of 3 in the cast with a tally over this mile course, graduating 17 months ago; just a place and a show finish from the ensuing 9 trips to the post, but has been facing off against better and drops to the lowest level of her career in hopes of turning things back around. 3. Smart Rachel - Dominated her rivals for the diploma over this strip back at the summer session, then rolled a pair of 4's here during the Los Angeles County Fair stand in September while racing at or about this level; freshened by veteran Palma with Flores getting his first chance and this mare's early speed could serve her well in this modest line-up. 4. Misty Moni - Hard to get excited about the work this mare has done since breaking her maiden on the No Cal fair circuit last year, including the last pair over the smaller night oval here; pass. 5. Mergie Troid - Picked up her overdue diploma two back while racing against soft company here under the lights, then picked up the show money at most recent asking in a modest conditioned dash on the five-eights oval; would really need to pick up her game to reach here. 6. Sugaratsundown - Been quite a while since she got her lone victory, but at least it came over this daytime track; a couple of decent tries earning minor awards under the lights here, then tried a mile and steeper company at Del Mar a month ago and stopped badly; easier task and back to the short game. 7. Lookingforthewire - Traveled to New Mexico this summer and dropped in class to get over the maiden hump, but has been well beaten in the quartet of tries since returning to California; off-the-board in the only Orange County attempt. 3. Wit and Wisdom - First of 2 for Stortz barn; been doing good work up north since returning from a vacation and was claimed from a near-miss while racing for a modest tag at Golden Gate; Figueroa a plus and he'll be looking to work out a trip from the rail at this abbreviated journey. 2. Hesa Ranegade - Gives the Stortz barn two looks at the outcome; put it all together when last seen in March to earn the graduation in Albany before going to the sidelines; has turned in a serious of smart local drills for the Orange County debut with top night pilot McDaid getting the assignment. 3. Tap Tap Boom - Broke his maiden at the Fresno Fair two back after battling all the way, then showed early interest in the first try vs. winners at Del Mar a month ago and had nothing left for the drive; claiming price is cut in half and daytime track's all-time leader Pedroza will try his hand. 4. Extreme Heat - Dropping to the lowest level of his career, brings good speed to the party and figures to appreciate cutting back a furlong and a half for his first assignment over this unique mile layout; look for Adalberto D. to be gunning and this one could prove to be an elusive target at this rung of the ladder. 5. Angry Bobby - Finally broke his maiden while facing a soft group over the smaller night layout two back 5 weeks ago, then failed to make an impact in one of those 870-yard affairs here in the first start for the new connections; has to pick up his game to be a menace. 6. Quad - Another in the cast who is dropping to the lowest level of his career in hopes of getting back to the winning ways; Franco should be able to make good use of that early zip and note those sharp drills over in Arcadia for Sherlock since the last outing. 7. Royal Seeker - Suited up here a week ago on opening day, scooted up the rail for apprentice Fuentes and lost by a nostril in a heartbreaker at 15-1; just the one score from 29 starts with 11 place and show finishes, but at least that tally came here and he was rolling late in that last one. 4. Coco Smooches - Blanking in 14 starts this year and only exacta finish came nearly eight months ago over the nightime oval. Did win over this track in the afternoon during the 2017 Summer Thoroughbred Festival, rolling to an easy score with a pace pressing journey at this trip. 3. Callie Mesa- Lacked zip and finished fifth of six when 39-1 two months ago when racing at lower level at night. Both of her victories have come under the lights, but tough to take off any of her efforts before the recent break. 4. Peppered Gold -Versatile mare will be seeking her fifth win of the year as she ventures to Southern California for the first time in her career. Hasn t fired in two starts at higher levels since being claimed for $5,000 from Quinn Howey two months ago, but is a.400 hitter on dirt and can bounce back on the drop for high percentage stable. 5. Sunset Melody - Split the field for lower tag a little over two months ago at Fresno, Worse than third only once in her last six attempts and has hit the board in both of her local tries, so merits inclusion underneath at the very least. 6. My Ebony Star - No factor when distant third, but does exit a productive nighttime affair seven weeks ago. Winner Palace Paynter has since scored again and runner-up Sharp Holiday cashed in the first race of the Winter Thoroughbred meet Dec. 6. Scored front-running 22-1 over the daytime track July 7, but unlikely to get a clear lead in this spot. 7. Gypsy s Rule - Runner-up as the odds-on choice two weeks ago, but was re-claimed for $3,200 from Felix Gonzalez by the trainer that lost her for $2,500 two starts earlier. Owns a win over this track in the afternoon and missed by a nostril at this level five starts ago while finishing directly in front of a next out winner Majestic Diva. Major player. 8. Slightly - Scored as the favorite in a softer spot at night Nov. 16 and is a four-time winner as a 4-year-old, but has been unplaced in two tries over the daytime oval, so not expecting a repeat. 4. Factor off his best. 3. Shirl s Ready - Finished directly behind Banze No Oeste earlier in the month and is also tried with blinkers. Has been beaten a combined 32 lengths in his last two starts, but did rattle off three consecutive wins earlier in the year, including a -1 upset when finishing in a dead heat at this distance in first try in California. 4. Kenzou s Rhythm - Goes turf to dirt and drops a peg after being claimed for $,500 from Bill McLean 53 days ago. Hasn t had an exacta finish in six starts in 2018, but two of his wins have come on dirt and goes for a productive first off the claim stable. Conflicting signals. 5. Harrovian - Flees the rail after finishing sixth of seven in race captured by longshot Holland Road a month ago. Could wake up wit h the change of venue as gelding has picked up two of his three wins locally and has been worse than third only once in five Los Alamitos races. Beware the horse for course. 6. Preacher Roe - Virtually eased in same race Banze No Oeste and Shirl s Ready exit., but is another who could improve with the return to this surface. Veteran gelding isd a two-time winner here and has been part of the exacta on two other occasions. Hasn t won in a long time, however, going 0-for-13 since the begining of Freddies Dream - Completed the trifecta when 17-1 in first since being claimed for $8,000 from Andrew Lerner six weeks earlier. Has hit the board in half of her races and has been second in as many tries over this surface, so could share. 6. Pulpitinthesky - Tries two turns on the main track for the first time after beatng one home in a restricted sprint on the hillside turf course in Arcadia. Three slow drills since that effort six weeks ago, but should be a pace factor and both of her wins have come on dirt. 7. Copper Cowgirl- Homebred completed the trifecta when 8-1 in same race Rolling Shadow exits. Part of the exacta in half of her races over the track where she is based, including a game maiden score three outs ago. 8. Midnight Lilly - More than six lengths clear of the third place finisher when defeated by eventual repeater C.C. Zipp when last seen nearly two months ago. Scored an off the pace victory - despite a wide journey - over this track at this trip during the Los Angeles County Fair meet in September. Factor off the bench. 9.
