Mostly Cloudy - The only member of the cast with a win over this strip, graduating at first asking here a year ago in a decisive decision; had has to settle for minor awards in the interim, including a runner-up finish going a mile here in July; blinkers come off and new pilot Pena will try to work out a trip from the rail. 2. My Golden One - Last seen traveling 13 furlongs around the Ferndale bullring, finishing a modest 3rd in their signature event earlier this month; a trio of good route events leading up to that outing, including an exacta completion in his only local appearance; figures to be making a late impression and has to be taken seriously. 3. Sir Porfirio - Returns from a Southwest invasion that saw him narrowly holding away for a maidenbreaker in Colorado; stopped badly while racing for a 5K tag when last seen going about this journey at Ruidoso two weeks ago; looking elsewhere. 4. Rafter One - Earned his diploma via the stewards last month at the seaside, then failed to make any impact in the initial try vs. winners while racing for twice this pricetag; veteran Pedroza returns in the irons and he certainly has some races that put him in the picture with this group. 5. First to the Wire - His graduation came almost 16 months ago while racing a distance of ground over the Golden Gate turf; a nibble here and a nibble there in the interim, but he'll be looking for his first on-theboard finish in his 5th attempt on the main track; could snap back to life as he's definitely with his friends here. 6. Wheresthemoneyjack - Finally got over the hump in his 10th trip to the post when he dipped to the bottom level in June at Santa Anita; beaten double digits in the two efforts since, although he picked up a show finish; meet's leading rider takes the assignment and they should be right on top of the action from the get-go. 4. On a Toot - Machowsky claimed this one down at Del Mar late last month and wastes little time giving the daughter of Into Mischief the chance to stretch her legs with blinkers being added; a clean start would certainly help the cause as she's been slow from the gate in the the first two appearances. 2. Warrior Vixen -The only try over this unique layout came to months ago at the summer session and she came late to be part of a blanket finish as the 7-5 choice; proven she can be a player at this one-around journey and figures right in the thick of things with Roman trying his hand. 3. Eye of the River - Hard to get too enthused about the work this gal has done to this point; tries a distance of ground while dropping into a claimer for the first time; will need to show more. 4. Hope She Will - Put in a decent late run to complete the exacta in her 2nd start back in June at SA, then failed to get into the swing of things in the subsequent Del Mar outing; figures to appreciate both the drop in class and stretching out a mile for veteran Headley with Elliott taking over in the saddle. 5. My Carmela - Last two tries have come at this level, with a show finish in a modest affair going this trip in Arcadia followed by an even nibble going a mile at Del Mar earlier that session; onerace blinkerless experiment is over with Werner getting her initial try. 6. Of Note - The drop in class to this rung of the ladder worked well for the Chew trainee as she sat a stalking trip and while no threat to the winner, did hold off the rest; appears to have found her level and just needs to come up with a little more punch when things get serious. 2. Reinahermosa - It s been some time between drinks for this 1-for-25 filly, who will be looking for her first local score in her 11th Orange County appearance; well beaten by two of today s rivals while racing this journey in the last at Del Mar and needs to step it up. 2. Coronado Cool - Made an encouraging return to California a month ago, parlaying a a maiden win on the Lone Star turf to a runner-up finish going this exacta once-around on the Del Mar dirt; completed exacta the only time she s tested this surface at last year s spring stand;looms major player with Roman on the re-ride. 3. Jill Madden - Suited up here opening day in the sprint for a higher tag vs peers-only, showed speed and steadily faded in the first start off the August 16 claim; now she s offered below the purchase price with blinkers going back on; this is the distance of her April maidenbreaker at Santa Anita. 4. It s Not So Easy - Had a nice sprint prep at Del Mar last month for the high-percentage Milady barn and wasn t helped by the awkward start; now she returns to the distance that provided her graduation last year while making her initial try over this layout; will be right at home with this field. 5. Zanab - Stretched out to this once-around at Del Mar last month, made a middle move up the inside and flattened late while no match for Coronado Cool; just the lone score from 26 starts with 10 place and show finishes and you have to go way back for that win, but that doesn t mean she can t have a big say with these. 6. Fashion Fair - Nothing doing in the two tries since the June diploma earner at Santa Anita, including that last one off the claim; did have some traffic trouble in the most recent and now it s route time; may have her hands full with a couple of these on the front end while spotting them the distance experience. 2. Angels N Devildogs - Sire has an 18% win with his debuters and first foal from dam who won three of 11 and banked $15,000. Bullet work over the track for Florida bred who was purchased for $75,000 earlier this year. 4. Summer s Indy - Take Charge Indy has won with five of his first 26 debuters and dam, who went 1-for-6 on the track, has had two winners from three prior foals, including Summer Soldier (5 wins, $68,691). Sharp Los Alamitos drills for productive stable. Purchased for $25,000 at the Keeneland September sale in Rancor - Oxbow has yet to have a debut winner from 14 starters and first foal from winless dam. Hall of Fame stable in her corner, but prefer to see an outing. 6. Saint Tropez - Opened up a clear advantage when 11-1 in debut three weeks ago, but faded late to finish fifth of nine. Talented apprentice remains for winning stable and could on better now that she s had a race. 7. Fantastic Girl - Came out slowly and wound up directly behind Saint Tropez when 7-1 in Aug. 26 debut. Hawk s Eyes - Finished 1 1/2 lengths behind Pat the Bear last month when making some late progress. Winless this year, but could run on for a piece over a track on which he has been 2-3 in half of his starts. 7. Proudtobesicilian - Back in six days after failing to threaten when 12-1 for this price tag. Yet to come close in four starts in Southern California with lone win coming vs. weak maidens two months ago at Sacramento. 8. Swiss Cheese - Outfinished Little Jack by a head when defeated by the speedy Mason B at night three weeks ago in first since being claimed for $2,500 from Bob Hess, Jr. Capable off best and could be a late threat as he stretches to a distance at which he owns a win. 8. Time for Ebby - Rallied from last to win in return to grass a month ago and blew out sharply in he interim prepping for her Los Alamitos debut. has gone back-to-back before, so should make some late noise again. 9. Alpenhorn - Flees the rail after chasing the talented Miss Sunset in a California bred stakes seven weeks ago. Defeated next out turf winner Merrily Merrily the last time she competed here when returning from a layoff of more than a year July 6. Off the pace threat. 10. Late n Left - Tired to finish seventh of eight on grass when 8-1 in first in more than six months. Done her finest work on dirt as she s finished 1-2 in eight of 12 on dry land. Could be a player from close range. 11. Haveiture Way - Showed the way and held on when nearly 39-1 four weeks ago. These are tougher and she s facing more speed, so not expecting a repeat. 12. Would be a surprise for stable that won earlier in the Los Angeles County Fair meet with Badasmywifeletsmeb. 3. Exuberance - Rallied to be third vs. open maidens in encouraging debut three weeks ago. Filly purchased for $100,000 in March returned with a solid half-mile drill in Arcadia and should benefit from experience. 4. Helen s Tiger - -Most experienced member of the field will try for fourth time to earn her maiden victory. Rolled threes in last pair, chasing eventual Generous Portion Stakes winner Spiced Perfection two races ago before failing as the favorite 23 days ago. Stable won this race with Sharla Rae the first time it was contested at Los Alamitos in Unchanged - Finished more than eight lengths behind Exuberance Aug. 26 and gray purchased for $45,000 in March hasn t come close in two starts. Hampered by lack of zip and has yet to have an alert takeoff. 6. Expendy - Opened up clear lead vs. $30,000 maidens six days ago, then lasted through a slow final sixteenth of a mile to score a 16-1 upset after finishing a distant fourth in her Santa Rosa debut 22 days earlier. Posted a 17-1 surprise in last local daytime appearance during the 2014 Winter meet. Siding against him going back-to-back. 4. Tiz Jolie - Goes for new connections and shortens up after beingclaimed for $10,000 from John Brocklebank 23 days ago. Winless in eight starts this year and has lost two in a row as the favorite, but may enjoy the cut back and did win gamely here during the 2016 Winter meet when trained by Victor Garcia. 5. Could earn another piece, but was sharper as a 3-year-old and only win this year came over the Tapeta surface at Golden Gate Fields more than four months ago when claimed for $16,000 from Tim McCanna. 6. Overcomer - Completed the trifecta vs. tougher California breds two weeks ago and returns to a track on which he has never been worse than third in three starts, including a victory vs. $16,000 foes when claimed from Steve Miyadi. 7. Casuality - Probably best when defeated by a head by Templar when last seen here July 16 as he was troubled at the break. All of his wins have come in Arizona and New Mexico, but certainly fits off his latest and should get pace to chase. 8. Tiz Love - First-time gelding has been idle since being pulled up in longer race more than six months ago. Strong local work tab and did win a restricted claimer over his home track during the 2016 Los Angeles County Fair meet. Not impossible. 9. Luckarack- Takes on stronger as he bids for his second win of the meet. Oldtimer scored convincingly from off the pace eight days ago and has strung victories together in the past.
