Copper Cowgirl - Picked up the show money in 2 sprints down at Del Mar this summer while racing at this level; one place finish to show from the 4 attempts over this layout, weakening behind a runaway victress when last seem locally at this distance in July; tough task handling the class droppers drawn just to her outside. 2. Exes N Ohs - Daughter of Street Sense gets some serious class relief and the chance to stretch her legs around 2 turns in the 2nd appearance for Mr. Baffert; showed brief early interest when making her introduction vs. much tougher during the Del Mar meet and did a hasty retreat, but should be much more at home with this group as she sports a serious of solid Orange Country drills with Talamo back at the controls. 3. Take Charge Gal - The other member of the cast who will appreciate the softer company as Sadler is looking to continue his excellent summer; has had to settle for nibbles in the 2 outings since arriving from Indiana, but gets back to the long game and her easiest West Coast assignment to date; should drop into a nice stalking spot under apprentice Espinoza and makes things interesting. 4. Solar Corona - Her 5 local tries have resulted in 2 exacta completions and a show; idle since the summer session here, where she turned in one solid runner-up finished under these conditions and then came up empty in the other; still looking for the brass ring in her 25th stab. 5. Cheyenne Dancer - Beaten double digits in the pair of outings over this unique strip and hasn t been seen since the summer stand; will be making her first attempt beyond 5.5 furlongs and projects on or near the lead under the bug rider, but may find the long stretch a bit much to handle here. 6. Curlina Curlina - The most missed chances as she makes her 29th trip to the post, including 10 local tries resulting in a trio of place finishes and one 3rd; does come close every once in a while and there are a few in here who figure to be tested at the long journey; veteran Pedroza will try his hand today. 3. 2 2 nd by 3-Year-Olds and up, maiden special weight, Six Furlongs Peter Eurton Top Recent Equibase Speed Figure at this distance: Boiler Plate 1. Goldie s Hills - Debuted here during the summer meet sporting a price tag and was hard used on the lead before weakening, then tried one of those abbreviated grass dashes down at Del Mar last time and went evenly, finishing ahead of today s rival Boiler Plate; Harvey will no doubt be sending from the rail and this colt will need to find more when they straighten for that long run home. 2. Justin s Quest - Only try came 5 weeks ago at the seaside at a mile and he did all the heavy lifting to deep stretch before it took it s toll; then effort should have the Baltas representative perfectly legged up for this shorter assignment with a quartet of maintenace drills in tow and Maldanado getting the leg up this time around. 3. Dre Dan - His only outing came over 20 months ago routing on a sloppy track at Santa Anita and he pretty much went around the track without threatening behind some decent runners; has put together a solid string of Orange County drills for Baffert and this pricey purchase looms a major player off the bench with this group as Cousin Joe takes the call. 4. Aced - The only new face in the cast; sire hits at 10% with his first timers while mom won 8 of 22 for 238K and her only other to the races has a win from tries for 23K; shows some decent drills here and at Del Mar with Gutierrez guiding and a post parade and toteboard check is in order. 5. Exultation - Gives the Eurton barn a 2nd look to go along with the new shooter to his inside; been away from the wars since the December meet here, where he debuted in a seller and rallied for the place spot without threatening the winner; barn has nice stats with the returning types and must be considered. 6. Boiler Plate - Runner-up in the first 2 tries, debuting in Arizona and then finishing a distant 2nd here during the summer meet, followed by a non-threatening performance going short over the Del Mar lawn; shows a nice 5-furlong drill over this strip for Rollins in the interim and did get the best of the draw in hopes of turning things back around. 5. 3 3 rd by 3-Year-Olds and up, fillies and mares, California-bred, allowance/optional claiming, Five & One Half Furlongs Eric Kruljac Top Recent Equibase Speed Figure at this distance: Alpenhorn 1. Alpenhorn - One of 3 members of the cast with a victory over this daytime oval, but you have to go back to July of last year to find that score; often her own worst enemy with poor takeoffs, including her last trio; makes 3rd start for Eurton with blinkers being added and a bullet half-mile work from the gate showing here last month. 2. Sunrise Royale - The only sophomore in the field put it all together in her most recent foray 3 weeks ago at the seaside, surging when it counted under new best friend Figueroa to be up in time for a 17-1 surprise; definitely headed in the right direction and figures to get much more respect at the windows this time around. 3. Lady Krishna - Her diploma earner came at the bottom level here over the 5-furlong night track in April and she added a score up at Pleasanton in late June; just missed at Sacramento following that, then tested the Santa Rosa lawn and a class rise and was just a bystander; a couple of nice local half-mile drills showing here in the interim. 4. Magicalchic - Lit up the toteboard at 42-1 here in her first start at the summer meet and followd with another good try for this this pilot; sent off at over 90-1 in both of her Del Mar outings and was never a factor; have to side with others today. 5. Hailey Rachele - Only appearance on this strip came in July and she made 6-5 look like a gift with a romping maiden score; initial attempt vs. winners was a pretty good try over the Del Mar green last month and she looms a major player under these conditions with Pereira at the controls. 6. Happy Issue - Northern California invader s half-dozen scores is 4 more than anyone in the line-up; looking for the hat trick today with back-to-back stalking scores up north, ending up on the right end of a photo 13 days ago over the Golden Gate tapeta and promptly being haltered by Belvoir; perfect post for another stalking trip under Espinoza. 7. Stylistics United - Have to go back to October of 2016 to find the maiden score and has been well beaten ever since, including the two comeback tries running short on the Del Mar turf; hard to endorse. 2. Lombo - Hasn t been seen since battling for command and tiring in the Pay Day Mile going a one-turn mile over a sloppy Churchill Downs oval on the Ky. Derby undercard; looked sharp wiring the field in the Gr. III Lewis going long at SA in February and hits the restart button today; have to respect the lone 3-yearold in the cast with D Amato now calling the shots. 3. Street Vision - Has won 3 of 5 starts this season in a bicoastal campaign; followed up June Belmont first-level allowance tally with a solid try at Del Mar with Tatters to Riches returning to capture the Shared Belief on the stretch-out; claimed by Herrick and re-united with Pedroza, who was aboard for the April victory at Santa Anita. 4. Aristocratic - Once highly-regarded prospect was red-tagged from his last by the potent Gary Barber/Peter Miller combination and surfaces in a very sweet spot for a quick return on investment; carved out the fractions and didn t give up without a fight in the last foray; Figueroa has been teaming nicely with barn that has been hitting on all cylinders and coming off a sensational Del Mar meet. 5. Conqueror - Cerin trainee returns to the short game after weakening while chasing a tougher customer in the most recent at the seaside going a once-around journey; neatly drawn on the outside of this compact cast for a stalking trip under Talamo and has several races this season that would put this 5-year-old right in the winner s circle in the initial attempt over this unique course. 4. 5 5 th by 2-Year-Old Fillies, maidens, California bred or sired, top claiming price $50,000, Five & One Half Furlongs Adam Kitchingman Top Recent Equibase Speed Figure at this distance: Just Hit Play 1. Street Punk - Sire has yet to have a debut winner from six attempts and dam, who was a one-time winner, has produced Lymebyrd ($95,970) and five time winner Adriatic Lass. Homebred is based locally, but prefer to witness one and needs an alert takeoff from this post. 2. Calder Vale - Surfaces in a claimer for the first time after finishing sixth of eighth when 21-1 on turf nearly one month ago. Should be a pace factor at the very least and was third in his May 5 debut behind eventual repeater Tap the Wire. 3. Kid Koil - Cuts back in distance, goes turf to dirt and steps into a claimer after finishing fifth of six when 6-1 three weeks ago. Seeking first on the board finish, but could perk up with the softer company and the surface change. Jockey is the all-time leader in thoroughbred wins here, including the Orange County Fair meets held between Bean Street - Stablemate of Street Punk is by the same sire and mare has had one winner from two prior foals. Slow works on resume, so looking elsewhere. 5. Lifesbeengoodsofar - Ministers Wild Cat has had 11% debut winners from a large sample and first foal from dam who won four times and banked $148,787. Homebred has five listed local drills since July 31, including a 1:00 4/5 gate move Aug New Salute - Salute the Sarge has clicked with of 114 rookies and dam, who was a four time winner, has had all four prior foals win, including Westmont (6 victories, $93,569). Local work tab dates to May 24 and would be a surprise for stable seeking its second win of Forestation - Trailed in same grass race Kid Koil exits when 15-1 in his initiation. Homebred worked a decent five-eigths over the track where he is based, so improvement is likely for stable whose maidens often benefit from experience. 8. Just Hit Play - Opened up clear lead at longer distance vs. open claimers four weeks ago, then had to settle for third when 4-1. First crack at fellow state breds for Square Eddie gelding, who was fourth in his career initiation here during the Summer Thoroughbred Festival in July. Dinesen - Split the field when 17-1 at shorter distance in debut 33 days ago in race won by colt who competed in the Grade I Del Mar Futurity Sept. 3. Has worked four times in the interim for productive stable and pedigree suggests he will improve with more distance. Major player and well drawn as he adds blinkers. 2. Herdsman - Broke slowly and failed to get involved when debuting at shorter distance on turf Aug. 8. Canadian bred purchased for $20,000 at the Keeneland November sale in 2016 gets new rider and has worked three times since his initiation, so improvement is possible, but siding with others for the top prize. Blinkers on for this. 3. Rain Crow - Oxbow is 5-for-69 with his firsters and dam, who won three of 14 and earned more than $147,000, has had five winners from 10 prior foals, the best being Mambo in Seattle (4 wins, $421,149). Work tab doesn t scream first out success, so prefer to watch one from homebred. 4. Earnest - Slow takeoff when debuting at this trip on grass nearly one month ago at Santa Rosa. Was 5-2 when fourth of five in his inaugural attempt and could do better with the switch to dirt and with the benefit of race experience. 5. Dark Prince - Distant third when stretched out for the first time to this distance 15 days ago in race dominated by Gunmetal Gray. One of Instagrand s victims in his June 29 debut here for Hall of Fame trainer and will be a pace factor at the very least. 6. Magnificent McCool - Improved when stretched out and moved to turf 25 days ago when fourth after showing the way in race in which the runner-up returned to win a grass stakes Sept. 2. Looms a prime contender with these if he can duplicate the performance on dirt. 7. Seven Scents - Distant fifth at shorter distance in race dominated by rookie Game Winner 19 days ago. Returned with a solid fiveeighths of a mile drill Sept. 1 and is by a sire who won the Breeders Cup Dirt Mile in consecutive years, so eight furlongs shouldn t be an issue for the lightly raced gray. 1. Stately Command - Steps up in price after finishing sixth of seven when nights ago. Blanking in a dozen starts in 2018 and last win came more than 17 months ago when trained by Chuck Treece. Outsider. 2. Bella Raquella - Runner-up vs. softer company under the lights 18 days ago and hasn t competed in Southern California on the daytime circuit since finishing eighth of 10 when 78-1 vs. maidens going longer on turf Nov. 13, 2014 when trained by Walther Solis. Looking elsewhere. 3. Nazareth - Mare who likes to nibble returns to a surface on which she has been 2-3 in three of four previous starts, the latest when completing the trifecta during the Summer Thoroughbred Festival in July. Trailed a runaway winner in her most recent, but could bounce back with the venue change. 4. Blooming Hannah - Makes first start since last Nov. 30 when eighth of 10 vs. similar during the Winter meet. Blew out quickly five mornings ago over the track where she is based and did break her maiden locally during the 2015 Winter season when trained by Jeff Mullins. 5. Kristie s Heart - Troubled when seventh of nine when 13-1 at higher level six weeks ago when making first start in some 11 months. Lowered into a carrer soft spot and did win a restricted claimer here4 during the 2016 Winter meet when trained by Jeff Bonde. 6. Scathing - Claiming price halveafter finishing fifth of seven when -1 two weeks ago. Seeking first exacta finish of 2018 after a productive 4-year-old season in which she was a four time winner, including a local score during 2017 Winter meet. Turnaround needed. 7. Alpha Pegasus - Cuts back in distance after pressding the issue in a miler and fading to last three weeks ago. Has yet to be competitive in Southern California as all four of her wins have come in Arizona and Colorado. Pass. 8. Rockantharos -Veteran mare exits same race as Scathing and Nazareth and rallied to finish fourth - after her usual slow takeoff - when Should be a late threat once more and her last win did come here d- for this price tag - during the 2017 Summer Thoroughbred Festival. 9. Princess Areni - Drops in second since being claimed for $20,000 from Richard Baltas after being prominent early, then fading to finishing seventh of nine when days ago. Graduated at this trip in June in Arcadia. Player. 10. Holidayincambodia - Chased eventual repeater Foxy Fresh under the lights when last seen at shorter distance nearly six weeks ago. Topaz Time - Pressed the pace from the outside for this price tag 11 days ago, but faded badly when 3-1 in first after being claimed for $16,000 from Matt Chew. Should be prominent early in first start over this track, but tough to take off that last performance. 2. Coalinga Hills - Idle since missing by a head for this claiming price here July 14. Worked a bullet half mile over her home track Aug. 27 as she seeks her first win on the main track. 3. Majestic Authority - Drops into a softer spot after finishing fifth of seven in a race taken by the odds-on choice 15 days ago. Fits better with these and was a gate-to-wire winner two starts back when claimed for $20,000 from Jack Carava. 4. Creative Spark - Chased winner No Wine Untasted early, then faded late to finish fifth in first in more than two months Aug.. Lone victory came against weak maiden field nearly five months ago in Arcadia when able to control things up front, which is an unlikely scenario in this spot. 5. Ciao Luna - Third in same race Topaz Time exits and goes for new connections after being claimed for $16,000 from Andy Mathis. Only victory came over the Tapeta surface at Golden Gate Fields three starts ago, but has been 2-3 in all three of her races on dirt, so has to be considered. 6. Dashin Ashen -Takes significant drop for first since finishing last of nine when 87-1 last Dec. 1. Concord Point mare s only win was local, an easy score as the 1-2 favorite vs. maidens Sept. 11, Worked six furlongs in 1:13 over her home track Aug. 30, so could fire her best shot fresh. 7. Sharona Sunset - Runner-up as the favorite nearly one month ago for slightly lower price at Santa Rosa. Homebred is 1-for-1 at this venue, defeating maidens as a 2-year-old. Not impossible. 8. Lady s War Dress - Hasn t come close in six starts since shocking $30,000 maidens when 32-1 in her career debut during the 2016 Wintr meet. Hard to endorse. 9. Jeweled - Returns to dirt and lowered in price after finishing fifth of seven when 8-1 at shorter distance on grass 26 days ago. Seeking first victory since scoring as the prohibitive favorite against $20,000 maidens more than six months ago when claimed from Bob Baffert. Retains jockey who shared the r2017 Summer Thoroughbred Festival riding title with fellow apprentice Heriberto Figueroa. 10. Fellina - RStablemate of Lady s War Dress returns to Southern California and cuts back in distance after finishing a well-beaten fifth when days ago at Sacramento.
