Speedin With Eddie - One of two in here with experience and he ll be making his first start as a gelding; early interest on both occasions, but has had his problems with push comes to shove; needs to find more fight. 2. Malibu Dude - First of the new faces: Olmodavor has clicked with 12 of 86 debuting juveniles while this is the first to the races for the unraced Rahy mare; some real nice local drills and Bejarano adds to the appeal. 3. Viewfromthepulpit - Lucky Pulpit is 13-for-94 with first-time youngsters and the mare was unraced; she is 2-for-2 with her performers, headed by Lucky View 148K); slowish works for Belvoir, who has a nice ROI with his beginners. 4. Cash Is King - Some decent drills over this strip;sire is 0-for-11 with juvenile debuters and the dam won 1-of-6 for 11K in her racing days; all 3 of her starters have had the picture taken, headed by Presidentsky (87k). 5. Scatastic -The other to have faced the starter and he was entered in Sunday s Barretts Juvenile; has certainly been dropping hints, including a late-running 2nd in the Del Mar finale and he ll be tough for the hot Perez if the first-time starters don t come out running. 6. Remember Clement - Papa Clem is 8-for-47 with the young newbies while the iron Cat mare was unraced;her only starter is 11-time winner Looking Out, who banked 84K; modest works here and a tote and post parade check is definitely in order. 7. Turn Your Eyes - Debuts for the Tommy Town/Miyadi combination; Kafwain clicks at 9% with the 2-year-old beginners and mom was 2-for-16 on the track with 141K in earnings; she s 3-for-3 with her previous runners, headed by Cloudwatcher (105K); cozy draw with Pereira. 2. Prayer for Da Bric - Dropped to the lowest level of his career while racing under the lights here three weeks ago, turned in a good 2nd and was promptly haltered; looking at a tougher group over the mile layout today and more likely for a minor award. 2. Smokin Bomb -The good news is his 4 wins ties for most in the field, but the bad news is he s made 67 starts with 16 place and show finishes;no factor with softer on the night five-eighths track and we ll pass. 3. Outthink em -The lone snapshot came over this strip, but you have to go back some to find it; finished early while racing for a touch higher tag opening week and will have to do much better. 4. Expo and Fig - One of the two big question marks in the field as he dives off the class ladder for the high-percentage D Amato barn; closed out last year s campaign with two overpowering victories on the engine, then disappeared until last month at Del mar and faltered while meeting some tough customers like Nextdoorneighbor; if he has anything left in the tank, he s going to take some catching here. 5. Land of the Free - Well beaten in the Del Mar invasion, then returned to this track and was 4th in a blanket finish in one of those 870-yard mixed affairs under the lights late last month; could work into the equation at a decent price under Guce. 6. Monument - He s the other major class dipper here, as he was last seen facing much better just under a year ago down the hill at Santa Anita; only attempt at this distance resulted in a victory and he s being offered a major discount off that 40K purchase in June of last year; choose a sidc. 7. Somethingabooutnick - Earned the graduation here in the evening at 870 yards, had a brief respite and has returned with two efforts where he was well beaten, including a race here 11 days ago; looking in other directions for the first couple of spots. 8. Germany Bay - Not sure what to make of that dull try at Sun Ray Park in New Mexico last time off the vacation, but the first two from that starter affair returned to score and he certainly has efforts last season that put him in the picture with this group under the 7-pound apprentice. 9. Financial District - Checked in 3rd in both the appearances at the seaside following a vacation, including that last one where he ignited late and finished a neck behind today s outside neighbor May Weather; trio of scores came in New Mexico and Arizona and may be rounding back to best form. 10. May Weather - Hasn t been running them alike likely with a good race/bad race pattern; the try here at the summer stand and the Del Mar finale would make him a player, while he failed to get into the swing of things here on opening day, with Surf N Ski returning to score again in last Saturday s opener. 4. Simplicityizgenius - A pair of nibbles since dropping to this league for the solid barn; if the improving pattern continues, he could definitely have a say in his initial attempt over this track;won t be 29-1 this time around. 2. Mr. Pete Got Even - Hard to make a cast off what he s shown in 9 starts. 3. Papa s Playboy - Has been knocking on the door for Stute and Pereira and may have found the right spot to get across a graduation; should be up-close-and-personal from the outset and won t need to make much of a move forward to get it done. 4. Lovely Summer - A wildcard to be sure,as he hasn t been seen since December when he was mixing it up with much swifter types; sports a :59 4/5 drill from the gate in Orange County to complete the preparations for Pederson and helps make it interesting. 5. Storm Caution - Still looking to break into the circle in his 2th attempt and has been unable to threaten of late under the lights here with softer; can t endorse. 6. Scud - Sent off at 45-1 in the debut here two weeks ago, had some traffic issue and stopped in the drive; obviously has to do better. 7. Bern - Sill looking to hit the board after 16 trips to the post; gave way readily here opening day and looks up against it again. 8. Foldemoreholdem - Made his introduction here 11 days ago vs. straight maidens, stayed in fairly close attendance early and then was well beaten; had a race now and drops to the lowest level for Sherman. 9. Stauffenberg - He s 0-for-28 and has been well back in all 6 of his attempts over the mile oval here and has a couple of misses competing at the lowest night level; pass. 10. Caballo Bonito - Returned from the respite and went evenly in one of those 870 affairs here after a stumbling start, then did a hasty retreat at 97-1 two weeks ago at this stand; another who would be a surprise. 3. Rare Punch - By far the most missed opportunities as he s making his 24th try at a diploma; 7 place and show finishes on his card; had some traffic issues on opening day while finishing behind a couple of today s foes; lots of speed for him to track. 2. Lucky Nugget - Ended up on the wrong end of a nose photo last month while competing at the lowest level under the lights on the five-eighths track; lots of potential early heat to his outside hurts his chances. 3. Frog - Had been away for nearly 13 months when he suited up on opening day here, forced the pace from between horses and paid the price in the final furlong; has race under his belt now, but another early battle looms. 4. Cass in Stone - Took a dip to this bottom level for the 2nd start, went off the chalk and turned in a solid runner-up finish despite not having the best of takeoffs; blinkers are added and he figures right in the thick of things. 5. S M Royal Image -Two decent late-running efforts over the track where he trains sandwiching a Del Mar attempt that saw him stumbling at the break; should be making another late bid, but has to find a little more punch to reach. 6. Son of Eleanor - Two appearances at the seaside following the lengthy vacation saw her being well beaten while competing at this level; looking elsewhere. 7. Hamilton High - Has shown the way to the lane in both outings,but has found the stretch much too long;likely to be hooked on both sides today and has to find more stick. 8. I m Zonin - Got a little class relief here opening day, battled out to deep stretch and then couldn t quite match strides,being outfinished by Cass in Stone by a half-length; drawn outside the other early speed and has to be respected. 9. Jimbaran Bay - Belvoir trainee has been away since December and shows up as a fresh gelding while suiting up at the lowest league; Eikleberry figures to drop in behind the abundant speed and could make the last run count. 10. The Grumbler - A nibble here and a nibble there, but hasn t really been able to come close to a score; returns to the short game for this and is another who could benefit if some of these get carried away on the front end. 11. City State - Battled back after being headed in game victory over recent Los Alamitos winner Hidden Zensation when claimed for $16,000 from Mike Puype. No secret of strategy from inside post for gelding who has earned two of three wins on dirt. 2. Ike Walker - Toyed with five rivals when odds-on four weeks ago when claimed for $16,000 from Vann Belvoir. Field s lone sophomore will have to deal with City State early. 3. Wings of Mojave - Cuts back a quarter of a mile after easy gateto-wire score 11 days ago. Unlikely to match two rivals drawn inside of him in the opening furlongs, but, but has shown the ability to win from slightly off the pace. 4. China Girl Lover - Returned from just over a year on the shelf to defeat next out winner Ike Walker in first start for current stable. Runner-up over this surface vs. weaker more than 14 months ago when trained by Carl O Callaghan. 5. Out of Patience - Idle since being claimed for $25,000 from Tim Glyshaw more than five months ago at Keeneland. Capable on dirt and did win on the Delta Downs main last Dec. 17 when trained by Tom Amoss. Gelded and adds blinkers for new outfit. 6. Knock Em Flat - Disappointed as the favorite - with excuses - 33 days ago when claimed for $20,000 from Tim Yakteen.A winner in half of his starts in 2015, but best efforts have come when he s had a clear lead, a highly unlikely scenario in this spot. 7. Karma King - Has captured his last two dirt starts at shorter distances. Unable to win in three prior starts beyond 6 1/2 furlongs, but those three races were on Cushion Track at Hollywood Park and turf at Santa Anita. Mighty Brown - Drops significantly after trailing in first after being claimed from Mike Stidham May improve with plunge in price, but has lost 12 in a row since back-to-back victories at Tampa Bay Downs. 3. Bound for Heaven - Runner-up for this price at bit shorter distance 12 days ago. Contender if runs two alike. 4. No Bachi - Trailed at 31-1 at higher plateau 26 days ago in first in more than seven weeks. Another class drop may be needed for him to be competitive. 5. Rosie s Hurricane - Off rail after slow takeoff when sixth of eight at this level two weeks ago. Gelding likes to win races, but all of his victories have come in Idaho. 6. In Control - Returns in 18 days after finishing third at shorter distance when claimed for $3,200 from Guillermo Morales. Has won of two last four, but needs to demonstrate he can compete at this level. 7. Mi Agave - Completed trifecta at 10-1 after showing the way in opening race of the Fall meet. Has spent most of his career running shorter, but did break his maiden at six furlongs 25 months ago at Golden Gate Fields when trained by Efrain Miranda. 8. Rock Steady Eddie - Back in 143 days after failing to threaten at higher level. Only win came vs. weak maiden group more than six months ago. 9. Senator Bob - Drops after finishing distant third 25 days ago.veteran gelding has some back class and could be primed for his best in third after a lengthy layoff. Won over this surface during the July meet in Preordained - Hasn t been a factor in all recent, including a sixth place finish 11 days ago. Difficult to endorse in current form. 11. Banged His Eye - Finished seventh of eight at nights ago at shorter distance in return to Southern California. Razorbill - Rally fell neck short when beaten at much shorter distance by eventual repeater Surf N Ski. Unproven around two turns and these are tougher. 2. Fly Blue - Returns to Southern California on a roll with three consecutive wins on the Fair circuit. Gelding is tactical and did win over this track in Jeffery s Pride - Far back in all recent and has lost 40 of 42 in his career.will be a large price once more. Pass. 4. Hawk s Eyes - Non factor going shorter on the turf at Golden Gate Fields 32 days ago when making first start in nearly one year. This will be his first appearance on dry dirt.formerly trained by Greg James. 5. Gold Treasure - Finished OK to be third at shorter distance when making initial start in California for Hall of Fame trainer. Lightly-raced sophomore may take to added distance. 6. Preacher Roe - Far back in Del Mar finale five weeks ago after consecutive victories, including a local score at this distance when making first start in six months July Olympic Blue - Disappointed at 5-2 when returned to turf in first ater being claimed from Andy Mathis out of an opening day victory at Del Mar. Reunited with rider who was aboard for that win and is left in a spot where he can t be claimed. 8. Planet Sunshine - Perked up when claiming price halved when third 40 days ago. Seeking first win since being claimed for $50,000 from Art Sherman more than 18 months ago. 9. Justification - Stretches out for first time since finishing sixth of eight at this trip March 21. It Girl - Moved up by stewards at this distance 19 days ago. May do better in first attempt over track where she is based. 7. Palm Canyon - Had clear clear into the stretch before fading late to finish 1 1/4 lengths behind Suddenly Single Sept. 10. Negative post switch and likely to be outrun early by Not Tonight. 8. Indy Devil s Arms - Sidelined a little over a year since finishing last of eight vs. better at shorter distance. Pass. 9. Not Tonight - Distant third after setting pace behind favored winner 34 days ago. Sheds eight pounds and looms one to catch. 10.
