Wilannamoon - The only member of the cast who can boast of a win over the mile track here, earning the graduation papers at second asking back in December; no factor two weeks ago here, but the drop in class could do wonders for her outlook at this abbreviated journey. 2. Sailor s Cry - Exits a very productive contest here on opening day, with both Secret Chords and Clem Juice returning to score decisive victories; broke her maiden at 13th asking on the smaller night oval here in her previous appearance. 3. Black Ice In Dixie - Her last 5 starts have come under the lights in Orange Country, as she returned from a vacation to post a facile maidenbreaker at 47-1 and then just missed while racing for the lowest conditioned tag; certainly headed in the right direction for Nunez. 4. Cowgirl N Thecity - Another who earned the diploma here during evening hours, as she returned from 9 months on the sidelines to take them coast-to-coast, with runner-up Island Pearl returning to graduate; this is obviously a tougher assignment. 5. Trixie Nine - Caught a wet-fast track in late January on the night oval and was up in time in her 5th attempt, then tried one of those 870 affairs when last seen here two months ago and played the role of bystander; needs to step it up. 6. B K Miss - A sharp drop in class and the switch to night racing proved to be a winning combination for this filly last month, then she race on the larger layout opening weekend and brought up the rear; has to do better. 7. Provocative Song - Has flashed :21 and change speed in the last pair here and at Santa Anita, but has stopped badly on both occasions; maiden score came going 870 yards here under the lights back in December. 8. Aparri - A nibble here and a nibble there in the outings since breaking here maiden down at Del Mar back in October; neatly drawn with Linares and figures to appreciate the shorter distance. 8. Dollemma - Broke maiden via disqualification back in December going a mile on turf in Phoenix; was outrun sprinting while 24-1 earlier this month at Santa Anita, new she stretches back out and drops a few levels in hopes of turning things back around. 2. Miz Graycee - Picked up the 2nd lifetime snapshot on the class drop back in late February going this trip at Santa Anita and has picked up minor awards in the two outings since being claimed by Team Hess;offered at a discount today and re-united with veteran Pedroza, who has been aboard for both tallies; major player. 3. Lil Cheyenne - Has been runner-up in the last two appearances on this oval, closing fast in a December affair and then completing the exacta behind a runaway winner on opening weekend while well clear of the other 4 entrants; Elliot got to know here in that outing and a mile is well within her range. 4. Stole My Art -Two starts at Santa Anita this spring off the vacation saw here bringing up the rear for a slightly higher tag while racing around one turn; it s been a long dry spell since she captured a straight maiden affair art 18-1 back in December of 2013 on the Golden Gate Tapeta. 5. Wildly Excessive - The good news is both of her lifetime scores have come over this mile layout and both were at this once-around journey; the bad news would be you have to go back to 2014 to local those wins; dips to the lowest level of her career as they attempt to dial a wake-up call. 6. Amberella - She s the other member of the cast with a trip to the local winner s circle in daylight, getting the job done at this mile distance during the December meeting; should be much more at home with this group as they dip her below the claimed price for the first time and Maldonado will be trying his hand. 7. Southern Darling - Another coming out of that Secret Chords/Clem Juice race on opening day and she was no factor in there at 100-1;both wins have come locally over the smaller night oval and she must pick up her game. 8. Awe Gee - She was a winner here under the lights back in late October, but has just one runner-up finish to show from 5 appearances on the mile oval;been a nibbler in the last pair and finished 4 lengths behind today s rival Lil Cheyenne when last seen sprinting opening weekend; outside draw doesn t help cause. 2. 3 3 rd by 3-Year-Olds and up, top claiming price $110,000, Five & One-Half Furlongs. Tiago Pereira Top Recent Equibase Speed Figure at this distance: Sorullo and In Control 1. Znelle - All the recent work has come here at night on the smaller layout and he s been failing to get the job done vs. easier; does own a win over the larger track here last year,but looks to have his work cut out off the recent tries. 2. Sir Barclay - He has a win, two 2nds and a 3rd from as many tries on this surface;sizzled early and faded in the first try off the claim two back,then put in a pretty good try here opening day while finishing a couple of lengths behind today s rival Sorullo;has to find a bit more when push comes to shove if he wants to get it done. 3. Oh Brother Go - Has been away from the races for just over a year and joins the Gonzalez barn while racing for the lowest price tag of his career; sports a solid series of local drills for his return and figures to have a nice closing kick at this distance if he s ready to rock and roll off the bench. 4. Mighty Brown - Sports a win and a show finish from the 2 tries over this track, the victory coming back in September when he was claimed from a nose decision; disappeared for 7 months following the purchase and then turned in a decent 3rd behind Atascaderan here opening week while racing for a slightly lower tag; will need to build on that comeback try to reach today. 5. Sorullo - His 13 wins is tops in the field and 9 of those tallies have come at this distance; ran too good to lose her opening day under Pedroza at a slightly shorter journey, as he put away an early challenge to open up at midstretch but could not quite contain the winner; obviously a major threat with a repeat of that effort. 6. Cowtownmary - The only two-time winner over this mile layout, including a dominating performance during the December stand; was redtagged that day by Glenn and has turned in exacta completions in the last pair, most recenttly after suffering some traffic troubles as the 2-1 choice here opening week; his best effort puts him right in the thick of things. 7. In Control - Outrun his 18-1 odds here two weeks ago, battling hard on the pace from the inside and holding for the place over today s foe Mighty Brown; recorded back-to-wins under the lights here in December and then New Year s night; Bednar acquainted with him now. 8. Four Gaels -This guy loves to win races, with all his recent work coming on the five-eighths evening layout here; certainly adds speed to the equation from the outside and Boag won the last time he claimed aboard him in late December while besting a bottom-level group. 5. Jase s Aunty Aimee -Yet to hit the board in 10 starts, gong off at over in 4 of the last 5 outings; pass. 2. Flashy Gold - Made her debut one month ago at Santa Anita going 7 furlongs and rallied for a minor award after getting a less-than-stellar start; finished a length and a quarter behind today s foe Hilda in that affair and has every right to move forward with a race under her belt, some added distance and a clean getaway this time around. 3. Nakoma - Beaten double digits in all 3 starts while going off at fairly long odds on each occasion; don t really see the stretchout to a mile making much difference and we re looking elsewhere. 4. Pridelander - Both outings have seen this filly get away a tad slowly,incuding a rail start in the debut;did show more life in the 2nd appearance and now Kruljac, who has been having a good meet, gives her a chance to stretch her legs. 5. Trinitys Turn -The missed chances in the field as she makes her 13th stab at the brass ring; came within a nose of reaching under these exact conditions under Linares in January at Santa Anita, but with so-so on the board finishes showing in the interim. 6. Riverka -Yet to show anything in a trio of trips to the gate and now drops another notch; can t recommend. 7. Madera Jubilee - Thumped in each appearance, including one sprinting here on opening day; longshot once again. 8. Hilda - Has been improving with each trip to the gate; no threat to the class-dropping winner last time in Arcadia but did pick up the show money and may be legged up nicely for this two-turn assignment under the apprentice; should get more respect at the windows no.w. 9. Goldrushcat - This is where Bejarano lands; has been making some menacing noises sprinting across town this season, including the most recent where she did a bit of dipsy-doodle at the break, and figures to be right on top of the action from the get-go with this group; respect. 10. Beba - Went evenly in the late January unveiling over at Anita, passing a few in the stretch for a minor prize; Garcia wastes little time in giving this daughter of The Pamplemousse a distance of ground to work with while leaving from a disadvantageous post. 9. 5 5 th by 3-Year-Olds, maidens, claiming price $30,000, Five & One Half Furlongs Caesar Dominguez Top Recent Equibase Speed Figure at this distance: Johann s Command & Gone With It 1. Johann s Command - Cuts back in distance for initial start outside Northern California and first on dirt. Failed to come close in three synthetic appearances, but could be early factor as he did show zip in two sprint efforts. 2. Big Guy Benny - Moved up by stewards after disqualification of original winner 20 days ago. Returned with a solid half mile drill since raced and should be involved from the outset. 3. Gone With It - Most experienced member of the cast disappointed when favored while finishing directly behind recent Los Alamitos runner-up Captain Akers. Gelding has hit board in six of his nine defeats, so a must use in the exotics at the very least. 4. Yule - Sire has yet to have a debut winner and dam, who earned all three of her wins on turf, produced Skyskpy (9 wins, $136,073). Has been working locally,but may need a race to show his best. 5. Calvert Street - Distant second behind favored winner six weeks ago. Another who figures to be prominent early for stable that had four wins the first eight days of the meet. 6. Titan Star - Mustanfar is off to a good start as a sire, winning with four of his first 15 debuters.the only other foal for dam,who won three of 21 on the track, is Todai Sing (1-for-15). Local work tab doesn t excite. 7. El Volador - Sire is 4-for-28 with his rookies and first foal from dam who won two of nine. Local work tab extends to Dec. 5.Won t have to be a superstar to contend. 8. Pleasntly Broken - Sire, winner of the Breeders Cup Classic in 2003, is 36-for-292 with his firsters. Dam earned over $104,000 while winning five times - all at distances of more than one mile. Has worked sharply here, 9. Hardwood - Giant Oak has yet to have a debut winner from 18 attempts and dam, who was a Grade III winner in New York and won seven of 33, has had four winners from seven prior foals. 10. Keeping the Faith - Has never competed this cheap and shortens up after finishing fifth of six 27 days ago vs. fellow state breds going longer. Shorter trip should help. 11. Plumbago - Sire is better than 19% with his new shooters and four of dam s prior six foals have won. Moderate local work tab and will need some scratch help. 12. Carlot Cowboy - Stretches out for the first time in 2 1/2 months and returns to a venue where he won at this trip last Dec. 4., defeating softer group when trained by Steve Knapp. Should be involved early from this post as he seeks first win of Out of Patience - Responded to a drop in class and a cut back in distance to end 11-race losing streak 22 days ago when re-claimed for $10,000 from Leonard Powell by trainer that lost him for $25,000 last fall. Improvement needed to repeat and seems most effective around one turn. Blinkers return after back-to-back races without them. 3. Ultimate Luck - Close third in first of meet 16 days ago in race won by City State, who returned to run poorly when second choice in final race April 24. Seeking first win since scoring at much shorter distance here last Sept. 25 when trained by Doug O Neill. 4. Better Bet - Dropped in class after seven months on the sidelines and responded with an easy win against much softer field when heavily-favored nine days ago.two of his five wins have been local, but siding against another for homebred. 5. Bluegrass Reward - Showed little in two comeback races in Arizona after being away for 10 months. Gelding was second as the favorite in lone local try Dec. 21 when trained by Javier Sierra. Capable if rejuvenated with return to Southern California. 6. Dive Down - Should appreciate switch to dirt after consecutive starts on turf after being claimed for $10,000 from Eric Kruljac. All five of his wins have come on the main track and shown he can rally from behind, versatility which should serve him well in this spot. 7. Persuasive Paul - Well clear of rest of field when second as lukewarm choice in similar spot on turf. Dead Easy - Took advantage of fast fractions to score 10-1 upset when rallying from far back eight weeks ago. Hit board in two previous efforts locally and should get a contested pace to chase,but his three wins have come when collaborating with Kent Desormeaux. 2. Drover Crazy - Idle since showing speed and stopping badly going longer on turf more than five months ago. Has some gaps in his local work tab, but is at his best sprinting and did win off a 2 1/2 month layoff in 2014 when trained by Ron Ellis and after two months on the shelf for these connections last year. 3. American League - Sophomore takes on older for the first time after setting rapid pace at longer distance 37 days ago.tough chore for colt who did break his maiden here by daylight when heavily-favored vs. suspect field. 4. What We Doing - Needed 20 starts to graduate and did so vs. eight rivals in $20,000 claimer 15 days ago.would be major surprise if he was able to go back-to-back. 5. Horse Laugh - Recent well below par for late runner, but could perk up with the change in scenery. Arizona bred s last win came here Dec. 6, 2014 when he rallied from next-to-last to cash at Blanking in 13 starts since the beginning of last year. 6. Guy Code - Made a clear lead, then held on gamely late to post 14-1 upset 29 days ago. Dominated in last local appearance, winning by more than six lengths vs. fellow Cal breds last Sept. 12. Dangerous if able to run two alike, something he hasn t been able to of late. 7. He s Very Rare - Split field going longer in Turf Paradise finale seven weeks ago.veteran is a seven time winner, but hasn t competed in Southern California since consecutive runner-up finishes going longer on turf in 2012 at Hollywood Park when trained by Don Warren.. 8. Basmati - Finished six lengths clear of Horse Laugh when third in race taken off turf and moved to the main track. More effective in 2015 than he he has been as a 7-year-old, but may improve at this venue.won two of three here when trained by Richard Baltas and was second to Sacred Ovation, who is 5-for-5 at Los Alamitos, in his lone defeat. 2. Let s Meet in Rio - Idle since finishing fifth of six in Grade III won by stablemate Mor Spirit nearly 11 weeks ago. Stablemate of Malibu Sunset graduated here last Dec. 5. Could do some damage from behind. 2. Curlin Rules - Finished directly behind rivals Mishegas and Rare Candy in first vs.winners five weeks ago.broke his maiden when sent long for the first time in second career start defeating a field that included recent Los Alamitos graduate Prince of Arabia. Owner-trainer combined to win Surfside Stakes April 24 with Uptown Twirl. 3. Touched by Autism - Returns from Northern California after consecutive wins on the Tapeta surface at Golden Gate Fields. Showed extreme gameness in both victories and did score in his only try on dirt earlier this year. 4. One More Round - Maiden returns two weeks after finishing second behind the Bob Baffert-trained Collected in a Grade III at Keeneland. Has run well in both of his routes and should be prominent from the outset, but still no easy task for a non-winner. 5. Malibu Sunset - Passed his initial route test when 3-10 favorite nine weeks ago. Perfect in two starts, including a blowout win at the Fair Grounds in his sprint debut when trained by Wayne Catalano. Has continued to train well for Hall of Famer. One of the ones. 6. Mishegas - Cashed when 11-1 in optional claimer March 27. Locally-based gelding broke his maiden by 13 1/4 lengths the last time he ran here last Dec. 11 and could be a late factor if the race falls apart.trainer who has done a masterful job with California Chrome will try to win race named in honor of 2014 Horse of the Year. 7. Dalmore - Virtually eased three weeks in the Grade I Wood Memorial in New York. Close early, then packed it in over a muddy track in race that was the least impressive of the significant preps for the Kentucky Derby.Won at this trip. 8. Uncle Lino - Gets some class relief after chasing Exaggerator and Mor Sprit in the Grade I Santa Anita Derby three weeks ago.has hit board in five of six and will be part of the pace. Should be a major player. 9 Rare Candy - Finished directly in front of Curlin Rules while chasing Mishegas last month. Florida bred seems more comfortable on the turf and only win came on the Del Mar grass last summer. Anatolian Heat - Scratched from similar spot April 14. Unusual Heat is nearly 10% with his firsters from a large sample and dam,who won once in three starts, has had four prior foals, all winners, including Wind of Bosphorus (4-31, $125,355). Could come out firing for stable that has its fair share of first out success. 2. Awesomely Active - Sire is about 5% with his rookies and two of dam s four prior foals have won. Dam won five of 17 and earned over $166,000 with three of her victories on turf. Prepped in Arizona, so prefer to see an outing. 3. Big Energy - Chased eventual rpeater Hotbob when second in much improved try over Tapeta 27 days ago at Golden Gate Fields. Obvious player if he takes to dirt and trainer and Hall of Fame rider teamed to win with Over Achiever earlier in meet. 4. River Hoss - Back in spot where can t be claimed afte finishing distant second behin heavily-favored winner four weeks ago. No factor the last time he ran at this level in what has proven to be a live race as both the second and third place finishers were next out graduates. 5. Pat s Inheritance - Beat pair when debuting vs. claimers eight weeks ago. Keeps same rider and could do better with a race under his belt and with addition of blinkers. 6. Mini Bar - Rocky Bar is about 20% first time out and dam, who earned both of her career wins as a 2-year-old, produced Grade II winner Unitarian (5- for-21, $470,250). Sharp local preps on tab. 7. Red Car Mac - The Pamplemousse is 2-for-21 with his rookies and winless dam s two prior foals are a combined 2-for-22. San Luis Rey work tab dates to Jan Stormin Eagle - Debuts for Hall of Fame stable with recent flashy gate drill. Stormin Fever is about 7% with his debuters from a large sample and first foal from unraced dam. Must respect the connections. 9. Ski Utah - Second in softer spot when debuting here two weeks ago.will need to improve to contend at this level 10. Squash - Sire is 11-for-72 with his firstes and winless dam has had two winners from as many prior foals, including Sprouts, a stakes winner at age 2. Homebred merits respect for capable first out barn. 11. Look Me In the Eye - Showed talent last summer when second behind eventual repeater and returns with blinkers and as a first-time gelding. Contender if he gets to play. Sharp works on tab for first in nine months. 12. Ree O Kerr - Showed speed and faded when fourth behind heavilyfavored winner in first in Southern California.
