4 Oil, Gas and Dual Fuel Burners Burner series WD Oiln il, gas, and dual fuel burners are fully autmatic, safe, and reliable. The design and manufacturing f the burners is based n ecnmy, safety, and service as well as envirnmental friendliness. The burners are in cmpliance with mst Nrth American and Eurpean applicable standards. Cnstructin The steel plate husing incrprates a three-phase mtr that runs the fan lcated in the husing. The il pump has its wn three-phase mtr. The surface f the husing is finished with durable high-glss paint. The husing is equipped with a hinged burner flange with a safety interlck switch, enabling the burner t be swung pen t the left r right. The burner flange enables servicing f the cmbustin head, nzzles, and ignitin electrdes withut having t remve the burner itself. The stainless steel ally cmbustin head and the diffuser disc can withstand temperatures up t 2200 F. The cmbustin head is adjustable, t ptimize the mixing f fuel regardless f the firing rate. The burner huses a sight glass fr flame bservatin. On the fan suctin side there is an air damper that, tgether with the servmtr, autmatically cntrls the amunt f fuel and air based n demanded firing rate. A remvable upper tp cver allws ease f electrical installatins and burner service. Installatin and suitable applicatins The burners are suitable fr warm and ht water bilers, steam bilers, ht air generatrs, and varius types f prcess heating. They are als designed t suit furnaces with high back pressure. The burners can be munted in hrizntal, vertical and upwardfacing, r vertical and dwnward-facing rientatin. Our burners are designed fr peratin in cvered areas, max F. Nrmal peratin altitude is 1640 feet abve sea level (ther altitudes upn request). The burner enclsure class f the burner is IP 44. Fuels Different fuels can be used depending n the burner mdel: KP mdels: - light fuel il #2, viscsity cst (mm 2 /s), 6 cst at 68 F (20 C) GP mdels: - natural gas, prpane GKP dual fuel burners: - fuel prperties as abve, natural gas/light fuel il Burners using ther fuels are available upn request. Gas equipment Gas-related cmpnents f the gas and dual fuel burners cmply with Nrth American and Eurpean applicable standards. Oil piping dulating burners have three slenid valves. The il regulatr fr the mdulating burner is lcated n the nzzle return il line. The il filter is lcated n the suctin side f the pump. The tw il hses enable the burner t be hinged. Flame mnitring All mdels are equipped with autmatic flame mnitring. In KP mdels, flame mnitring is taken care f via phtcell; in GP and GKP mdels, it is perfrmed via UV cell. Cntrl devices The cntrl unit handles all burner peratin phases autmatically. In the event f a burner failure, the unit stps the burner autmatically. The mdulating burners als incrprate a pre-munted capacity cntrller. Silencer The sund level f the burners is lw, but, if desired, they can be equipped with a separate silencer t make them even quieter. We reserve the right t make technical alteratins. Capacity regulatin methds Burners are mdulating type with servmtrs with a run time f 90 / 30 sec. A mdulating burner perates regardless f the firing rate, n the basis f the lad. The burners are adjusted n the basis f cmbustin gas analysis. 4

5 Hw t chse a burner A. Prcedure 1 Establish relevant biler and applicatin infrmatin biler capacity and efficiency, r required burner capacity furnace back-pressure fuel/fuels t be used burner fuel inlet pressure burner capacity regulatin methd 2 Calculate the burner capacity. Burner capacity = biler capacity/ efficiency Example: biler capacity f 663 hp (6,500 kw), efficiency f 90 % burner capacity = 22,176 Btu/h (6,500 kw) / 0.9 = 24,636 Btu/h (7,220 kw). 3 Gas burners: Required gas flw [ft 3 /h] = (burner capacity [ Btu ])/gas s calrific value [Btu/ft 3 ]. Example: required burner capacity = 24,636 Btu/h required gas flw = 24,636 Btu/h x 1,030Btu/ft 3 = 23,918 ft 3 /h, where 1,030 Btu/ft 3 is the calrific value f natural gas. Oil burners: Calculate the required il flw [lb/h]. Required il flw [lb/h] = (burner capacity [Btu])/ the il s calrific value [Btu/lb]. Example: required burner capacity = 24,636 Btu/h required il flw = (24,636 Btu/hx140,000 Btu/gal = 176 gal/h, where 140,000 Btu/gal is the calrific value f light il. 4. See relevant brchure fr burner capacity/back pressure graphs: The graphs indicate the burner perating range. Fr example, the biler back pressure with a burner capacity f 24,636 Btu/h is 0.26 psi. Lking at the adjining graph, plt yur burner capacity alng the hrizntal axis. On the vertical axis plt yur biler back-pressure. Where the tw lines meet, defines the required burner type. The ptimum burner is best chsen by ensuring that the pltted perating pint is as clse as pssible t the right hand edge f the crrespnding perating envelpe. Different fuels and capacity regulatin methds require separate graphs. The fuel calrific value is stated n the graphs. 5. Gas and dual fuel burner valve selectin: Chse a large enugh valve, using the gas valve selectin table. Nte that the values in the selectin table apply when the furnace back pressure is 0 WC. Therefre, yu must subtract the furnace back pressure frm the actual gas inlet pressure and chse the valve n the basis f the value thus btained. The ratings shwn in the table apply t natural gas. Fr example, when the gas inlet pressure f the burner is 40 WC, biler back pressure is 7 WC, and required burner capacity is 24,636 Btu/h, the effective pressure is 40 WC 7 WC = 33 WC. Fr the GP-700 burner, fr example, yu shuld chse a valve allwing a minimum burner capacity f 24,636 Btu/h with 33 WC gas inlet pressure in this case, valve NPT Check that the uter dimensins f the burner, especially thse f the cmbustin head, are suitable fr the applicatin; the length f the cmbustin head shuld be such that, when munted, the cmbustin head is even with the furnace wall r abut 0.4 t 0.8 inches inside the furnace (see asnry figure). 7. Check the flame dimensins in the flame dimensin table. Please nte that the flame must nt cme in t cntact the walls f the furnace. 8. Accessry requirements must als be taken int cnsideratin: gas pressure regulatr, il pumping unit, biler thermstats/ pressstats. B. Equatins and rules f thumb 1. Burner capacity = biler capacity / 0.9 (when biler efficiency is 90 %) 2. Steam bilers: 1 lb/h steam 32,43 bhp biler capacity 3. Light il: 1lb/h 20,0 Btu/h burner capacity with calrific value 19,960 Btu/gal 4. Natural gas: 1 ft 3 /h Btu/h burner capacity with calrific value 1,030 Btu/ft 3 5. The amunt f cmbustin air: Gas burners: required amunt f cmbustin air fr each 34 Btu/h f burner capacity is 13,5 ft 3 /h. Oil burners: required amunt f cmbustin air fr each galln f il burned [lb/h] is 49 ft 3 /h. "WC An example f burner selectin GP-350 GP Btu/h Biler pressure lss graph as a functin f biler capacity The max. capacity f a ht water biler is 14,000 Btu/h, efficiency 0.9, and the crrespnding burner capacity 14,000 Btu/h / 0.9 = 15,555 Btu/h. The graph indicates that a suitable gas burner fr this capacity is the GP-450, as the pressure lss value fr the biler is lcated inside the area fr the GP-450 burner n the capacity/back pressure graph. The GP-350 can als be used fr this applicatin, prvided that the full biler capacity is nt required. Remember t take efficiency int accunt when relating the biler pressure lss infrmatin t the burner capacity/back pressure graph. 5

44 FGR - Flue Gas Recirculatin External Flue Gas Recirculatin, FGR, is an effective lw cst slutin t achieve very lw NOx emissins with varius fuels.
