Standings: Winners of seven of their last eight games, the G-Braves are third in the IL South Division they trail Norfolk (62-44) by 7.0 games, Charlotte (59-50) by 2.5 games and lead Durham (52-55) by 3.5 games. GWN is third in the IL Wild Card race, trailing Columbus (59-48) by 4.0 games. Winning Through 106: At (.519) through 106 games in 2015, the G-Braves have a winning record at the 106-game mark for the first time since the 2011 campaign (59-47,.557). At Durham: The G-Braves are 5-3 at Durham this season. With a win tonight, GWN would sweep a series of three-plus games at DBAP for the first time since moving to Lawrenceville in Three or Less: Gwinnett has allowed three runs or less in 43 of their 55 wins this season, including three runs nine times, two runs eight times, one run 15 times and no runs 11 times. G-Braves Edge Bulls in Game 2: The G-Braves broke a 1-1 tie with two runs in the fifth inning and survived a ninth-inning rally to defeat the Durham Bulls 3-2 last night at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. RHP Tyrell Jenkins (W, Current Road Trip (2-0) 3-1) limited the Bulls to a run on five hits and struck out eight over 6.0 IP for his first Triple-A road win. Gwinnett staked him to a 1-0 lead in the first inning as Eric Young, Jr. (3-for-4, 2B, R, RBI) singled, moved to third on a double by Joey Terdoslavich (1-for-3, 2B) and scored on an RBI groundout by Christian DATE 7/31 at DUR 8/1 at DUR 8/2 at DUR RESULT W, 8-4 W, 3-2 Bethancourt (0-for-4, RBI). After the Bulls tied it at 1-1 in the third, the G-Braves scored twice in the fifth to take a permanent lead. Mycal Jones (1-for-4, HR, R, RBI) belted a solo home run to left field off LHP Scott Diamond, and Mallex Smith (2-for-4, R, SB) singled, stole second and scored on another hit by Young. Stifling Starters: G-Braves starting pitchers (Jenkins, Marimon, W. Perez, Texeira, G. Smith) are 5-1 with a 1.96 ERA (9 ER in 41.1 IP), a.221 BAA (32-for-145, 1 HR) and three quality starts in the last eight games (GWN is 7-1 in that span). Gwinnett starters posted a 23.1-inning scoreless streak from the second inning on 7/25 vs. Charlotte to the second inning on 7/29 vs. Durham. Power Surge: DH Mycal Jones blasted his first home run since 7/1 at Buffalo last night, his fourth clout overall this season (T-2 nd on the club). It was the 16 th homer hit by a G-Brave in the last 31 games after the club hit just 19 homers over the first 75 games this season.
