Standings: GWN has been alone in fourth place in the IL South for the past 73 days they trail Charlotte (44-33) by 5.5 games, Norfolk (43-33) by 5.0 games and Durham (41-37) by 2.0 games. Quest for a Winning Record: With a win tonight, the G-Braves would move a game above.500 for the fourth time this season. The club has had a winning record on three prior occasions, at 3-2 on 4/13 (5-4 win at NOR), at on 6/24 (8-5 win vs. IND) and at on 6/26 (1-0 win at PAW). At Buffalo: GWN has won seven straight games at Coca-Cola Field dating back to a 5-4 loss on 6/17/13 (went 3-0 from 6/18/13-6/20/13, 3-0 from 5/13/14-5/16/14, 1-0 from 6/29-current). Three or Less: Gwinnett has allowed three runs or less in 30 of their 38 wins this season, including three runs four times, two runs four times, one run 13 times and no runs nine times. Folty s Gem Leads G-Braves Over Buffalo: RHP Mike Foltynewicz (W, 1-4) held Buffalo to a run on five hits over 7.0 IP as the G-Braves won the series opener 2-1 over the Bisons last night at Coca-Cola Field. The Current Road Trip (2-2) lone run allowed by Foltynewicz came on a solo home run by Caleb Gindl with one out in the fifth inning. Gwinnett s two runs also came via the longball as Adonis Garcia (1-for-4, HR, R, 2 RBI) connected on a two-run blast to left field with Eric Young, DATE 6/26 at PAW 6/27 at PAW 6/28 at PAW RESULT W, 1-0 L, 3-7 L, 2-3 (11) Jr. (0-for-3, R) aboard in the top of the fourth inning. Both runs 6/29 at BUF W, 2-1 were earned by Bisons RHP Scott Copeland (L, 4-2), who 6/30 at BUF 7/1 at BUF matched Foltynewicz with 7.0 IP in a tough-luck loss. RHP 7/2 at CHA Kanekoa Texeira (S, 1) pitched the final 2.0 innings, yielding a 7/3 at CHA (G1) hit and a walk to close out the win. Todd Cunningham (1-for-3) 7/3 at CHA (G2) and Cedric Hunter (1-for-3) had the only other hits for Gwinnett, who won despite matching a season low with three hits (5x). Going the Way of Garcia: 3B Adonis Garcia recorded his team-leading eighth multi-rbi game last night, going 1-for-4 with his third home run (ties Barrett Kleinknecht for the team HR lead) and his team-leading 37 th and 38 th RBI. The G-Braves are now (.615) when Garcia drives in a run this season, including 6-2 (.750) when he posts a multi-rbi game. IL Leaderboard: Garcia is currently ninth among qualifying IL hitters in batting (.300) he also ranks among IL offensive leaders in hits (T-7 th, 79) and RBI (T-10 th, 38). Power Restored: Garcia s homer, his first since a solo clout on 5/28-G2 vs. Lehigh Valley, was also the first by a G-Brave since Christian Bethancourt s solo homer on 6/19 vs. Pawtucket. First Win for Folty: After going 0-4 over his first six starts with Gwinnett, RHP Mike Foltynewicz earned his first victory as a G-Brave last night (7.0 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 HR, 3 BB, 6 SO, 116 pitches/68 strikes). The outing was his second quality start at the Triple-A level this season, his first since tossing an 8.0-IP CG in a loss at Norfolk on 4/20 (3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 9 SO in 1-0 loss) Season: Folty is 1-4 with a 3.40 ERA (15 ER in 39.2 IP) in seven starts with Gwinnett, as well as 3-2 with a 5.19 ERA (30 ER in 52.0 IP) in nine starts with Atlanta from 5/1-6/14. June Arms: Through 26 games in June, G-Braves pitchers are with a 3.29 ERA (86 ER in IP), a.238 BAA (202-for-848, 14 HR) and four shutout victories.
