Prior to facing the Red Sox in the 1918 World Series, the Cubs had played 12 regular season games in Fenway against the Boston Braves, with that last contest taking place July 26, Overall, this series marks the fourth all-time in regular season play between the two franchises the teams most recently met at Wrigley Field, June 15-17, 2012, with the Cubs dropping two-of-three.
