Mach at 8 p.m. in the Little Theate. Diecto is M. Joe M. Johnson, assistant pofesso of speech and dama. Assistant diecto is Jennife Macum and stage manage is Roge Smith. n the Twelfth Night, Shakespeae eaches high achievement in shee comedy the comedy of meiment and gaiety untlnged with any shadow of unhappy implication. The audience fogets that the plot tuns on an mpobable set of coincidences and mistaken identities and emembes the comedy. The absud plot is not the impotant element in Twelfth Night: the mpotant thing is what Shakespeae does with this plot, the way,he bings to life a goup of unfogettable chaactes fo whom the plot s meely a convenient expedient fo displaying thei qualities and quiks. The play has two main stoy lines the woking out of the omantic actions of the high bon, and the zany evely of the cowd belowstais. But the theads of the stoy ciss-coss and ae so skillfully intewoven that the emeging play s a finely wought tapesty of cham, wit, omance, and laughte. The Pogess is a completely self-suppoting oganization. The pinting costs each issue ae paid by advetisements which ae obtained though the business depatment of the neiwspape. Advetising is offeed to Richmond businessmen in Kentuckys most highly-decoated college newspape, at ates consideably lowe than those imposed by most othe school papes thoughout the nation. At Last Tonight Easten will be host to a concet fom the Highwaymen, a popula folk ecoding goup. The Student Council is sponsoing this concof in esponse to ovewhelming demands fom the student body, head fo the past yea o so, fo an event of this kind. The tunout fo the concet should be lage. We hope it is. We ae not pushing the student body to Since the pesent advetising ate was established thee yeas ago, the Pogess ciculation has nealy tipled, justifying shap inceases in advetising costs, but none have been made due to an abundance of advetisements. n etun, the advetise has his place of business bought befoe the total Easten community of ove 5,000, easily the lagest single maket in Richmond, and to anothe additional 3,500 alumni and school people, who ae fequently in Richmond. Until this yea it seamed evey Richmond businessman was anxious to adxetise in the Pogess. But this yea, some have taken the attitude that with Eastens student body being so laget, and the Richmond business distict quite small in elationship, that they ae going to get thei shae of student tade, Pogess advetisements o not. Ou egula advetises, on the othe hand, feel that the Pogess offes a sevice to them, enabling them to communicate diectly with the Easten student body. But, if the non-advetises get the same amount of student tade as the egula patons of the Pogess, the newspape, and in tun the Easten community, will both suffe, Civil Rights Questionaie Gives Supising, Answes Aound 220 Easten students gave some unexpected and some pedictable answes to the Pogess questionaie on elationships between aces. The questionaie, which was distibuted in the fist weeks of Novembe, wa» n conjunction with the Pogess aeies on civil ights. Seventeen questions of the fom ncluded the social, vocational and political aspects of nteacial goups. The 220 students epesent about a fifth of the student body. Although no names wee equested, some students did efuse to accept the questionaie. Othes gave incomplete answes, so the iesults of the fom ae necessaily appoximate. These esults ae not intended to seve as any basis fo had-and-fast action, but to claify what seems to be the geneal feeling of the students. One totally unexpected esult was the inconsistency of the students in naming aces. Thus, ndian" in the esults could mean eithe Ameican ndians o Asian ndians; Asian aces ae called "Oiental," "Mongoloid," Japanese and Chinese, and even just "yellow." Howeve, athe than ty to detemine what the students had meant, the Pogess decided to publish these answes as they wee witten on the foms. Fist Mostly "Yea" To the fist question, "Do you appove of having casual fiends of anothe ace, eithe of you own o the opposite sex?", 145 students answeed "yes:"-2s, "no;" and 41, "sometimes." Eleven students excluded Negoes as casual fiends, although they might include othes; one would exclude Jananese, one Oiental, one ndian, and one, Russian. To, "Do you appove of dating membes of anothe ace?" 2«answeed "yes," 148 "no," and 56, "sometimes." Thity-five students would not date Negoes; thee, ndians: one, Chinese; fou, Oiental; and thee, Mongoloid. Question five was, "Do you appove of intemaiage between aces?" Hee, as in question thee, esponse was ovewhelmingly in favo of the "nos" with 142 compaed to 24 "yes" answes and 30 "sometimes." Thity-eight excluded Negoes, pehaps pemitting intemaiage with othe aces, thee ndians, fou Chinese, one each Mongoloid and Oiental, and two, while. Answes Ae Even "Would you oom with someone not of you ace?" was question seven. Hee esponse w*a moe even, although still faily lopsided to the "no" aide with 94 giving negative eplies. ST answeing "yes" and 37, "sometimes," Thityalx students would not have Nego oommates, thee ndian, one "yellow" and one, Japanese. Emphasis shifted to caees with question nine, "Would it bothe you to (A) teach membes of anothe ace; o (B) have a teache who was a membe of anothe ace," Twelve answeed "yef;" 177, w>;* and 19;, "sometimes," to pat A; 85 answeed "yes;" 158, "no;" and 18, "sometimes," to pat B. Nineteen students answeed that they would exclude Negoes without specifying in what capacity, eithe as teaches o as students; and one each would exclude Oiental, Mongoloid. Chinese, Japanese, white, and two, ndian. Caees ncluded. Anothe two-pat question was 11: "Would it bothe you to wok in any capacity with membes of anothe.ace? (A) As an employee; (B) As an employe." To paoa, 35 said "yea;" 148, "no:" and 24, "sometimes." To pat B, 33 eplied "yes;" 155, "no;" and 10, "sometime*" Thity-thee say they would exclude Negoes, hee again without saying in what ole: thee, Chinese, two, ndian, one, Japanese; six, Mongoloid; and two, Oiental. "Does it bothe you to shae public facilities with membes ot anothe ace?" was question 13. Thity-eight answeed "yes;" N, "no;" and 40, "sometimes." Foty-one excluded Negoes two Chinese; Thee Mongoloid; one; Oiental, and two, ndian. i Political elationships constituted the hut pat of the questionaie. Question 15, "Do you appove of the method of demonstations and sitins that the Nego ace is using?" eceived 21 "yes" answes: 160, "no;" and 30, "undecided." Question 167, "Do youtiiink the Negoes ae accomplishing anything by thei method?" (efeing to question 15), 84 eplied "yes;" M, "no;" and 32, "undecided." The last question, "Do you appove of the national administations civil ights bill?" had 55 "yes" answes; 85, "no;" and 70, "undecided." Richmond Citizens Like Easten - And Vice Vesa By GEORGE E. On that day, the pesident of the United States, John Fitzgeald Kennedy, was assassinated. No doubt othe times such as this have centeed the mind of evey Ameican. Ous s a tadition of lawlessness, and we cannot be poud ot ou histoy in the aea of ou pesidents. What kind of nauon ae we? Fee? Equal? Democatic? wonde. Some 98 yeas ago Abaham Lincoln was assassinated. That was, in some small manne, undestandable. The United States had just undegone a civil wa. Lincoln had feed the coloed ace. That, in (he minds of a few. tfcas an.unpadonable sin. They believed that all men ae not ceated equal and Lincoln, who tied tl make it othewise, died a maty killed by those who disageed with him. As soy as am to admit it. must say hee that thee ae many today who feel that all ae not ceated equal. The winnes snatched off 65 to the loses 39. With the Maoons not hitting well fom outside the ebounding, expecially on the offensive boads, kept them n the game. Fee thow shooting in the last half also helped the Richmond gang. Easten hit 14 staight and 18 of 17 in the final peiod to chill Westen afte the visitos led at the half and by with 13:12 emaining. The following aticle is witten by Thon Kopacz, a membe of Eastens new westling team. Kopacz is nteested in westing as a spot and hopes to attact students to come out fo the team.) Easten is stating a westling team his yea unde the diection of head coach Jim Cullivan and assistant Jim Hattaway. Most people know little about amateu westling and have misconceptions about the spot, due to pofessional westling. Ancient Spot Westling is an ancient spot and pobably was one of the fist in which man paticipated. t is apidly becoming one of Ameicas foemost athletic activities fo young men and boys. Because westling is a spot in which two athletes of the same weight compete with one anothe, it is enjoyed by men of all «1 WestMut, unlike team spots, places fie contestant in a situation whee hie success depends upon Ma own intelligence, skill, speed, and stength. Contay to popula belief, one does not have to be big and muscula like a pofessional "as- le" to become a good amateu westle. The tem "assle" is used fo the pofessional because his way and pupose of westling ae so much diffeent fom the amateus. The pofessional is an acto who follows a scipt. On the othe hand, the amateu follows ules which outlaw holds that endange life o limb. The pofessional endeavos to attact an audience with savage noises and bute stength; howeve, the amateu wins his audiences attention with intelligent moves, which ae swifly and skillfully executed. Spiit Outlet Westling is an excellent outlet fo a young mans spoting and competitive spiits. Anyone who has watched an amateu westling meet undoubtedly has noticed that moet. f not all, of the contestants have well toned muscles.., Conditioning fo and paticipation in westling bings the individuals body up to its best. The westle s the best allaound conditioned athlete, because he must have both stength and stamina to westle continuously fo nine minutes in a college match. fm\_/ si^tflw ^ii WHEN YOU ARE THE "SXTH WHEEL" OF A CAR... you at the BG WHEEL with complete contol ove: O Dinking and diving O Excessive speeds o nsisting on the ight-of-way (o taking it fo ganted) You sie the bain, heat and conscience of you ca.
