If you pay you 1993 dues at this meeting, you too will eat fee and eceive 2 dawing tickets fo "Rooste pizes". All past pesidents, life membes, honoay membes, membes who paid dues last month and membes who bought in ads fo the community diectoy will eceive one dawing ticket. 2 Pesident's Message Wow, I can't believe how time flies (of couse I will pobably say this again at the end of the yea). One meeting down, how many moe to go Mike?? I'd fist like to thank the Boad of Diectos fo beaing with the long agenda at the last meeting. We, as a new Boad, have alot of planning to do to make this yea a geat one fo the Wa Sung Sevice Club. Hee ae the scheduled upcoming events. Mak you calenda, we don't want anyone missing the festivities. The Inaugual G,ala - Febuay 20th at the Alameda Naval Station Office's Club; Walte Chinn and Jennie Ong pomise quite a show. Annual Easte Pancake Beakfast - Apil 11 th at Lincoln Squae; Mike Wong expects eveyone to attend. Meit Awads Night - May 16th at the Lake Meitt Gaden Cente; Anold Mew's thinking about "going on vacation" - all I've head is something about a luau?? Some of the events you can look fowad to heaing about and hopefully attending ae: Family Day - an event that you can come alone, bing you family, a date o you spouse (not both at the same time!). Event chai Cal Chun pomises plenty of bee, Coke, hot dogs and hambuges fo eveyone. Asian Spot Light, Steetfest '93, Chistmas Paty and Toy Dive ae also in the woks. Remembe, the club is only as stong as you want it to be. Membeship attendance is vey impotant, so I expect to see eveyone at each of ou events. Kaaoke Feve Stikes Wa Sung! by Anold Mew Wayne Fong Pesident Seventy-fou potential kaoake singes met at the Cental Pak Restauant in Oakland duing the Januay Geneal Meeting fo an evening full of activities. Fist of all, it was geat to see old and new membes in attendance. Some longtime membes in attendance wee: D. and Ms. Clinton Lee, D. and Ms Clayton Soo Hoo, M. and Ms. Mal Ong, M. Heny Wong and D. Janet Lee. The new membes aej eanne Yao fom Sumitomo Bank of Oakland, Ann Cameon and Amy Shimada of Union Bank. Howad Ah Tye had the hono of sweaing them in. The 1993 Offices wee swon in by

3 Maion Fong. Maion also had the hono of sweaing in he son, D. Wayne Fong, as Pesident. Did you know that Ed Chan, a membe of ou club since 1990, has the only multimicophone Kaaoke set-up? The club was teated to solos fom Jane Wong, Bill Louie and Richad Tam. Dick Young and Deboah Pan dance the night away. Eveyone who attended had a geat time. Tam and David Won. Thee chees to Ann Fok fo leading the cheeing section. Next Spots Challenge will be badminton. Wednesday, Febuay 10th Lincoln Squae, 6pm This is tentative. Thee wee hugs, chees, dancing and singing as the old familia tune" Auld Lang Syne" played at midnight. Spots Challenge '93 - Round 2 by Richad Tam On Januay 6, a unified basketball team consisting of Wa Sung and Oakland Chinatown Lions Club membes defeated the Oakland Chinatown Leos Club 83 to 74. This yea's New Yea's Eve Paty was the fist time that vaious clubs in Oakland Chinatown united fo one big celebation. The event was sponsoed by the Chinese Ameican Citizens Alliance, Oakland Chinatown Lions Club, Oakland Chinatown Chambe of Commece, Diablo Valley Chinese Club, Oakland Asian Cultual Cente and, of couse, Wa Sung. Though the Leos wee younge, stonge and faste,.the Wa Sung-Lions team was able to hold them off. The Leos outplayed the Wa Sung-Lions in the battle of the boads (that's the inside game, folks), so Wa Sung-Lions took to taking 3 point shots. As the final esults pove, Wa Sung-Lions shot the lights out! Wa Sung "boad bustes" included: Tony Cho, Delbet Gee, Steve Sue, Richad Close to 400 people enjoyed dancing the night away to Bandon's Band. In addition to the taditional paty activities thee was also a affle that included such pizes as a 9" colo TV. Noisemakes kept the paty going full steam all night. Those who attended ae aleady looking fowad to next yea's celebation.

4 Gung Hay Fat Cboy! by Inveleith Fuci Ae you an ABC (Ameican Bon Chinese)? How many yeas have gone by whee you've eaten taditional Chinese dishes but have neve gotten aound to asking you gandmothe o mothe fo the ecipe? In hono of Chinese New Yea, I've asked Lena Fong, Josh's wife, to shae a ecipe fo Wu Toa Go with us. Lena says that all he childen come home fo it! Ingedients: Soak and dice: 1 piece of salted tunip 12 black mushooms 1/2 c. died shimp *etain wate 3 chinese sausage - chopped 1 slab chinese cued sidepok 1 Lb gound pok 1 Tbs soy sauce 1 tsp suga 4 Tbs oil 2 Lbs Tao - cut into 1/2 inch cubes 1/4 tsp salt 3/4 c. wate '*(fom shimp/mushooms) 1 pkg ice flou Gim mai fun) 2 1/2 c. cold wate Ganish: 1/4 Lb chinese BBQ pok o minced ham 2 tsp sesame seeds 1/2 bunch chinese pasley - chopped 4 geen onions - chopped Method: Heat 2 Tbs oil. Sti fy pok, mushooms, shimp, sausage, side pok and tunips. Set aside to cool slightly. Sti fy tao cubes in 2 Tbs oil, salt, soy sauce and suga. Add 3/4 c. wate fom shimp/mushoom soaking. Cove and cook until soft. Mix flou and 2 1/2 c. wate in a lage bowl. Add tao and filling mixtue. Mix well. Scoop mixtue into 2-9" oiled cake pans. Place on ack in steame with wate coveing ack. Cove and steam fo 45 minutes to 1 hou. Check and efill wate as necessay. Note: Go is bette ovenight wamed in the micowave o sliced and pan fied in a little oil. It makes a good hos'doeuve. The ooste has the shap, diect appoach. Cheeful and intelligent in action. Anyone bon in the yea of the Rooste is known to love lightly and often and attact attention to themselves.

She and Andew have a daughte, Debbie, who woks as an Executive Assistant in the Home Video Depatment of Playboy Entepises. Lucy cuently is a eal estate agent with The Pudential Landmak Real Estate.
