1 OKOTOKS MUSTANG LACROSSE ASSOCIATION (OMLA) Registratin Fees POLICY: REGISTRATION PROCESS / FEES Purpse: T establish the prcess f an assciated fee structures fr prgram registratins Registratin prcess: Registratins are accepted cmmencing early January. Any registratins received after the clsing deadline (February 15) are subject t a $50.00 late registratin fee and may be wait listed. It will be the discretin f the respective Divisin Directr as t the acceptance f late player registratins as team frmatin must be cmpleted well in advance f the seasn. Registratin Fees: Fees fr the assciated prgrams are as indicate under the "Registratin" tab n ur website. Fee payments can be made via cash r cheque. Payment can be paid in either ne payment (date registered), r tw installment payments (ne dated the date registered and the balance due n later than March 1) A player is nt deemed "registered" until the entire registratin fee is paid and is placed n an "unregistered list" until full payment is received Cheques are t be made payable t Oktks Mustangs Lacrsse Assciatin (OMLA). A player will NOT be allwed t participate until 100% f the prgram fees are paid prir t the Evaluatins prcess, r unless special arrangements have been made and agreed t by the Oktks Mustangs Registrar. POLICY: GOALIE REGISTRATION The Oktks Lacrsse Assciatin is cmmitted t prvide the pprtunity fr all players t play gal. Owning yur wn equipment des nt guarantee a full-time psitin as galie n a team. Players wishing t play gal have tw ptins: OPTION 1 OMLA prvides galie gear and player pays full registratin fee OPTION 2 player prvides wn certified galie gear and pays a $50.00 Galie Registratin Fee. All player wned galie gear is subject t inspectin by the Equipment Crdinatr. The Vlunteer Cheque is required fr all registered players. The OMLA will assist a galie in purchasing their wn equipment by including their purchase in ur rder and prvide them with the same discunt ur assciatin receives. Due t time cnstraints galies will be required t ntify the Equipment Crdinatr f their intent t purchase 6 mnths prir t the start f the seasn t ensure additin t ur equipment rder. 1

2 POLICY: MULTI PLAYER DISCOUNT Where 3 r mre registratins frm the same family (r extended family) residing at the same primary residence; full registratin cst will be applied t the ldest 2 registrants, the remaining registrants will be discunted by 50% each. The multi player discunt includes all divisins frm Mini-tyke t Junir levels. All request are t be made t the Oktks Mustangs Registrar. Please nte that the Vlunteer cheque is required fr all registered players. NSF Cheques POLICY: NSF CHEQUES Purpse: T ensure apprpriate and timely payments fr the Oktks Mustang Lacrsse Assciatin. NSF cheques will be assessed a $25.00 fee, payable by the registered family/player. Full payment f all related utstanding fees must be made, in cash, mney rder r bank draft, by March 15. If such payment is nt made by this date, the player will be placed n a waiting list and he/she will be ineligible t play until the ttal fee payment has been received. Financial Assistance POLICY: FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE Purpse: T define all cnditins regarding financial assistance t a player regarding registratin fees and/r equipment. Shuld a player/family wish t participate in ne f the Oktks Mustang Lacrsse Assciatin prgrams, but is unable t affrd the expenses invlved, the player/family must first seek financial assistance frm the KidSprt prgram. Other supprt prgrams are als available and there are ther avenues a family/player can pursue. If the KidSprt r any ther supprt prgram prves t be unsuccessful, the player/family can then make a frmal request t the OMLA Executive (thrugh the Registrar) t apply fr financial assistance fr the current year. Please nte that the Vlunteer cheque is still required. 2

3 Vlunteering Cmmitment POLICY: VOLUNTEER COMMITMENT Purpse: T ensure that every family participates in making the Oktks Mustang Lacrsse Assciatin as successful as pssible by vlunteering fr ne r mre creditassciated specified jbs in rder t attain a minimum time-cmmitment during the seasn. The OMLA Executive has identified several hundred types f jb functins/intervals, which ccur bth in-seasn r thrughut the entire year. T ensure successful peratins, it is imperative that the membership base vlunteer t perfrm these tasks r that additinal help be hired t cmplete the tasks. It is expected that ALL vlunteering bligatins will be met by the registrants family member(s). If the family is unable t cmplete a task, then the registrant must make alternate arrangements and infrm the Vlunteer Crdinatr. If a family des nt cmplete their vlunteer cmmitment, their cheques will be cashed. All cheques are t be made payable t Oktks Mustang Lacrsse Assciatin and pst dated fr June 15. It is up t each family t be aware whether they have cmpleted their vlunteer cmmitment. Ntes: There is n allwance fr partial vlunteering r partial payment, a 100% vlunteering effrt r 100% payment ($150) is expected. Prgram Withdrawal Refunds Purpse: T identify all cnditins regarding refunding f mnies t players. The prcess f evaluatins and team setting incurs significant vlunteering effrts and substantial perating csts. In the event that withdrawal frm a prgram is necessary, the fllwing curse f actins will apply: All Cases: $50 nn-refundable administratin fee will be assessed n all registratins, regardless f cancellatin date Befre Evaluatins: 100% fee refund less $50 administratin fee After Final Evaluatin: 50% fee refund less $50 administratin fee After League Startup: NO refund unless apprved by OMLA Executive. There may be cases where an injury that wuld prevent a player frm cntinuing t participate in the prgram. In this case, a medical certificate will be required befre the OMLA Executive is able t cnsider any assciated refund. After Evaluatins have cncluded, a lack f interest r change f sprt will nt be grunds fr a refund. 3

4 Cach Security Clearance POLICY: COACHING SECURITY CLEARANCE Purpse: T ensure the safety and well being f players during the curse f a prgram, by securing caches wh have a histry f apprpriate / desired behavir. The Oktks Mustang Lacrsse Assciatin seek caches wh have a demnstrated histry f behavir that is in cncert with the ideals and caching philsphy embraced by the club. As such, all caches subject t a plice backgrund check. The results f the check will be held in strict cnfidence, reviewed nly by the OMLA Bard and the Caching Crdinatr. OMLA will infrm a cach f ineligibility shuld they feel that the results f the backgrund check are in cnflict with the ideals held by the club. Zer Tlerance POLICY: ZERO TOLERANCE Purpse: T define cnditins endrsed by the Oktks Mustang Lacrsse Assciatin t curb undesirable behavir/cnduct displayed during seasnal play, bth n and ff the lacrsse flr. CDLA has defined minimum suspensins t be served during league games by the Player/Cach/Persn invlved in the pertinent infractin(s). The Oktks Mustang Lacrsse Assciatin will impse a graduated methd f additinal suspensins shuld the same infractin cntinue t be cmmitted, the guidelines t be fllwed being: - 1 st accunt f an infractin will result in the Minimum CDLA suspensin - subsequent infractins will result in the individual being suspended until such time that a OMLA Bard hearing is held and the future playing rights f the player are determined. The OMLA Executive will investigate ALL suspensins t determine the nature f the infractin in terms f the degree f unnecessary behavir displayed. The OMLA Executive reserves the right t enfrce additinal game suspensins as it deems apprpriate fr the situatin. Internal grievances brught frth t the OMLA Bard will be investigated and dealt with by the OMLA Disciplinary Cmmittee and/r the CDLA Disciplinary Bard as necessary. The OMLA Executive reserves the right t expel a player/cach/persn frm the club shuld undesirable cnduct cntinue t be displayed. 4

5 Mixed Gender Supervisin POLICY: MIXED GENDER SUPERVISION Players must be supervised at all times. Purpse: T ensure apprpriate supervisin f all players within the Oktks Mustang Lacrsse Assciatin All teams. (bys, girls, mixed) Players must be supervised at all times. A lne persnnel shuld never be in the dressing rm with players at any time, and especially when they are shwering r changing. Tw (2) adults shuld be present tgether, which is called Tw deep methd f supervisin. If players r parents are uncmfrtable with regards t changing r shwering at the arena, they shuld d s at hme. Female teams. At all times n male shall be present in the dressing rm, n the player bench, n the practice flr, r any team event withut the accmpaniment f an apprved female cach r female parent supervisr. N male cach shall be present in the girls dressing rm while changing r shwering. At all times n male cach will be allwed any physical cntact. In the case f injury, an accredited male trainer may by required t cntact a female player nly upn cnsent frm the player and the attending female supervisr. The players parent, designated guardian r female cach must dress (assist) female players. Mixed teams. Any girl playing n a bys team shall be accmpanied by her parent r designated guardian while the girl is in the dressing rm. At all times a male cach must be accmpanied by a female cach r female parent supervisr if nly girls are present in the rm. A female supervisr shuld be present at all team events i.e.: games, practices, dry land, etc. It is the expressed pinin f the OMLA Executive that parents wh have girls playing n bys lacrsse teams shuld be present at all team functins. Please refer t the Supervisin plicy as well. 5

6 Player Supervisin POLICY: PLAYER SUPERVISION Purpse: T state the bundaries f respnsibility f a cach fr the supervisin f a given player during practice, game r team event. The parent/guardian/authrized parent designate f any given player shall accmpany player t all games, practices and team events, and shall ensure the scheduled event is still being cnducted. A parent/guardian/authrized parent designate f a player will remain fr the duratin f the practice, game r team event t: Prvide mral supprt fr the player and the team; Be available in the case f an emergency and/r injury related t a player; and Prvide additinal supervisin supprt in ff flr situatins, such as: Dressing rm security Remved player frm flr play (penalty). Ntes Legally, parents are respnsible with regard t criminal r civil matters - fr their children until the child has reached the age f 18. The Oktks Mustang Lacrsse Assciatin prvides the means fr children t enjy and learn the sprt f lacrsse. Attendance, transprtatin and supervisin are the respnsibility f the parents/guardians f the players. If yu are unable t remain at the venue, please ensure the respective cach is aware f the situatin and agrees t allw the player t remain n his/her wn accrd Mandatry Equipment POLICY: MANDATORY EQUIPMENT Purpse: The purpse f this plicy is t infrm the player, parents and caches f what equipment is required by each player, ver and abve the defined CDLA requirements, in rder t prevent/minimize the ptential fr serius injuries while playing the sprt f Lacrsse. Muth-guards All participants registered with the Oktks Mustang Lacrsse Assciatin are required t wear a muth guard during bth practices and games. All muth-guards must adhere t the specificatins as defined in the ALA/CDLA Rules & Regulatins. Helmets All participants registered with the Oktks Mustang Lacrsse Assciatin are required t wear a helmet any time that the player is n the flr; including pre-game r pre-practice times. All participants registered with the OMLA that are nt playing during a game and are n the bench shall have a helmet n at all times. All helmets must adhere t the specificatins as defined in the ALA/CDLA Rules & Regulatins. Lacrsse Sticks All sticks must adhere t the specificatins as defined in the ALA/CDLA Rules & Regulatins. 6

7 Equipment - Jersey Depsits POLICY: EQUIPMENT/JERSEY DEPOSIT Purpse: T ensure that the player/team is respnsible fr return f jerseys and/r equipment t equipment manager. Jerseys are and will remain the prperty f the Oktks Mustang Lacrsse Assciatin. A Jersey depsit f $ per team (pst dated t July 7 th ) will be required. The cheque will be returned upn the return f the galie equipment t the OMLA Equipment Crdinatr. Any misplaced r lst jerseys will still be cnsidered t be the prperty f the Oktks Mustang Lacrsse Assciatin and fllw-up prcedures t secure the jersey will cntinue. Club Supplied Equipment POLICY: CLUB SUPPLIED EQUIPMENT Purpse: T infrm the members, players and caches f what equipment is made available at n charge t a team, and the assciated respnsibility t the club fr the use f this equipment. Galie Equipment The Oktks Mustang Lacrsse Assciatin will supply each team with a set f galie equipment (galie bnd is required, see Equipment-Jersey depsit). The respnsibility fr the equipment is assigned t the head cach r team manager if there is n permanent galie assigned t the team. Permanent galies will be respnsible fr their equipment assigned t them fr the seasn. The respnsible cach r galie will sign ut all equipment frm the Equipment Crdinatr. A $ bnd fr the Tyke Divisin and a $ bnd fr Nvice, Peewee, Bantam & Midget Divisins (pst dated t July 7 th ) is required fr use f the galie equipment. The cheque will be returned upn the return f the galie equipment t the OMLA Equipment Crdinatr. One galie stick will be handed ut with each set f equipment. Galie equipment supplied by the Oktks Mustang Lacrsse Assciatin. Chest/bdy Armur Galie Pants Shin Pads Galie Jck Galie Equipment Bag Thrat Guard Galie Stick (ptinal). All galie equipment must be returned t the equipment crdinatr n later than July 7th. There shall be NO Exceptins unless pre-apprved by the Equipment Crdinatr. This is t insure that the equipment is repaired (as required) and cleaned prir t being stred and made ready fr the next seasn. 7

8 Galies wishing t lease equipment fr the Winter Lacrsse League must cntact the Equipment Crdinatr t make arrangements. The OMLA will lease the galie equipment t the player fr $ with a $ depsit. The player and/r parent will sign a letter agreeing t pay the replacement cst r $1,500.00, whichever is greater, if the equipment is nt returned r is abused. The lease will be in writing and is t specify the date fr return befre the next regular seasn play. The purchase f used galie gear will require OMLA Bard apprval. Team Jerseys: The Oktks Mustang Lacrsse Assciatin supply each team with ne set f Jerseys (and a secnd clr if available) fr the regular seasn games. All jerseys are signed ut t the cach r manager under the fllwing terms and cnditins: Jerseys are handed ut in a clean rganized cnditin. They must be returned in the same cnditin. Jerseys must be washed and numerically rdered in the bag. Jerseys are NOT t be handed ut t the players fr the seasn. Each team shuld assign an Equipment Manager t maintain the team jerseys. This persn shuld be respnsible fr bringing the jerseys t the games; cllecting the jerseys afterwards, and fr the general up-keep f the jerseys, including washing them and any minr repairs. All Equipment pick ups/ exchanges / returns are dne by appintment nly. Please r call the OMLA Equipment Crdinatr t arrange a time. Name bars are NOT permitted n any Jerseys. Jerseys are NOT t be wrn fr practices r scrimmages. Equipment damaged thrugh the nrmal wear and tear f the seasn will be repaired r replaced by OMLA at n charge. Please cntact the Equipment Crdinatr. In sme cases jerseys may be in need f minr repair. We ask that yu find a vlunteer(s) frm yur team t perfrm minr repairs as required. Shuld yu determine that a jersey is in need f prfessinal repair r replacement, please cntact the Equipment Crdinatr. All jerseys (Cleaned and Organized) are due back t the equipment crdinatr n later then July 7th - NO Exceptins unless pre-apprved by the Equipment Crdinatr. Game Balls: The OMLA will supply each team with six (6) game balls + twenty (20) practice balls fr the seasn. It is expected that all balls be returned at the end f the seasn. General Requirements: Mustangs cannt accept substitute equipment fr lst/damaged equipment withut the apprval f the Equipment Crdinatr. Lst r damaged due t neglect/ misuse / unreturned equipment is the sle respnsibility f the team and r player. Shuld this situatin ccur, please cntact the Equipment Crdinatr t discuss the matter. 9 Evaluatin Prcess This evaluatin frmat may/will be revised as the need arises. REVISED MARCH POLICY: T define the prcess that will be adhered t by all divisin levels t evaluate a player's perfrmance fr team placement, and t ensure that all players are evaluated in an unbiased and neutral envirnment. OVERVIEW The OMLA evaluatin prcess has been designed t determine the verall skill level f each player in Tyke thrugh Midget. Using neutral evaluatrs, players individual skill levels will be measured. The verall scres frm a minimum f tw scheduled evaluatin times (ne fr Tyke) will then be used t determine player rankings within a divisin. It is these rankings which will be used t frm each team. PRE-SEEDING Initial grup placement fr evaluatins is based n the fllwing criteria: 1. The player evaluatins handed in by each Mustang cach at the end f the previus seasn. 2. The level and divisin played the previus seasn. New registrants, with n previus lacrsse experience, will autmatically be placed in the final grup fr their divisin. Once the initial grups have been determined, Divisin Directrs will assign each player an identificatin number (pinnie #) fr evaluatins. It is this number which will be used by evaluatrs t scre each player. EVALUATION SESSIONS Evaluatin Rating Sheets will be used fr each evaluatin sessin. Using assigned identificatin numbers, evaluatrs will scre each player n speed, stick skills, defensive skills, flr awareness and heart. It is these scres which will be used t rank players and determine mvement between grups. Ideally, the same evaluatrs will be used fr each sessin leading t the frmatin f a team. Evaluatrs will evaluate all players n the flr. Grups will be cmprised f apprximately thirty players divided int A and B sides. The A and B sides will be unbalanced. Side A in each grup shuld be strnger than side B. After each evaluatin sessin, mvement will ccur between grups based n the evaluatrs rankings. The tp twenty five percent and bttm twenty five percent (3 t 5 players) frm each grup will be mved t the next apprpriate grup fr the next sessin. Fr example, after sessin ne the bttm 25% frm grup ne will mve t grup tw fr sessin tw. The tp 25% frm grup tw will mve t grup ne fr sessin tw. Players will be scred against the players participating in their grup nly. At the cnclusin f evaluatins, players will be ranked numerically. Grups will be evaluated based n a cmbinatin f skills drills and scrimmages. The breakdwn f which will be determined by the Divisin Directr. Nvice and lder divisins will be primarily scrimmage with directrs placing an emphasis n game sense (ie.n end t end scring) 9

10 GOALIES Galtenders will be evaluated based n stick skills, game sense and attitude during evaluatin sessins. Galtenders will be placed in evaluatin grups using the same pre-seeding criteria fr runners. When mre than tw galies are n the flr they will rtate frm bench, t net, t net, at ten minute intervals. In divisins with multiple grups, galtenders may be required t be n the flr fr back t back evaluatin sessins. ABSENTEEISM Absenteeism will be dealt with as fllws: Players absent frm the first evaluatin sessin will be placed in the grup fr sessin tw that they wuld have been riginally placed based n the pre-seeding criteria. Players wh attend the first evaluatin sessin, but are absent frm a subsequent sessin r sessins will be placed in the grup cnsistent with their ranking frm sessin ne. Players wh miss all evaluatin sessins will be given ne evaluatin pprtunity. They will then be placed n a team, nly after cnsultatin with their cach frm the last team they played n. The Divisin Directr, Executive and cach f the ptential team must all be in agreement befre placement is cmpleted. TEAM SELECTION The number f players n a team is based n the number f registrants in that divisin and the number f teams being frmed. As a rule, a team playing at a higher level will have fewer members than teams playing at a lwer level within the same divisin. This is in place t facilitate affiliatins. Fr example, a divisin with 51 registrants playing at three different levels wuld be divided as fllws A Team -16 players; B Team - 17 players; C Team -18 players. Players will be placed n teams based n their final evaluatin ranking. Sixty percent f a team will be made up f the tp ranked players. The remaining frty percent are cach selectins. Fr example, a team with 17 players n it will have the tp ten ranked players and seven players selected by the cach. Where applicable, a flr time fr cach selectins will be held prir t the beginning f evaluatins fr the next team within the same divisin. In divisins with teams playing at three different levels (i.e. A, B & C); the six highest ranking players released frm the A Team will becme autmatics fr the B Team. These players will cntinue t participate in evaluatins, but will nt be ranked by the evaluatrs. In divisins with mre than ne team cmpeting at the same level (i.e. tw C Teams ); the teams will be f equal strength. In divisins where there is nt ne galie per team, teams that end up withut a galie, will be given an extra player. They will then have t find smene willing t play gal, r have players take turns playing gal. In divisins where teams have mre than ne galtender, galtender allcatins will be determined by the Divisin Directr. 1 0

11 Galtenders fr teams within a divisin will be assigned based n final evaluatin ranking with input frm the cach and divisin directr. Caching Curse Refunds POLICY: COACHING COURSES FEES REIMBURSEMENT Purpse: T identify all cnditins regarding refunding f mnies t caches. In rder t receive a refund fr any caching curse the cach needs t prvide the fllwing: Prf f Cmmunity Intrductin (Mini-Tyke / Tykes) certificatin will entitle a cach t full refund f curse fees in the same year the certificatin is awarded. Prf f Cmmunity Develpment (Nvice / PeeWee) certificatin will entitle a cach t full refund f curse fees in the same year the certificatin is awarded. Prf f Cmpetitive Intrductin (Bantam / Midget) certificatin will entitle a cach t full refund f curse fees in the same year the certificatin is awarded. Player Release POLICY: PLAYER RELEASE Purpse: T define the prcess/prcedures by which a player can be released frm the Oktks Mustang Lacrsse Assciatin t play with anther lacrsse club. 1. A player wishing t be released frm their hme lacrsse club t play fr anther club in any given seasn must apply t their hme club executive as per frm attached. 2. The clubs will cnsider each player release request n a per-case basis. 3 Any player wishing t transfer frm ne club t anther must: (a) present a cpy f the apprved release t the registrar f the new club; (b) register with the new club three (3) week prir t the start f the seasn; 4. If bth clubs (i.e., the releasing club and the receiving club) agree t the release, the release will be int effect. If ne f the tw clubs des nt agree, CDLA plicy 24.3 states, the release request must cme t a cmmittee, chaired by the CDLA President r designate, and, in additin, tw ther CDLA members, wh are nt assciated with either f the clubs invlved in the release prcess. The cmmittees decisin will be final. 5. N member club shall permit any player frm anther member club t participate in lacrsse in its jurisdictin wh has nt met all the abve requirements. 1 1
