The Horned Frogs have won eight straight games and are now atop the Big 12 standings. TCU registered its first two shut outs of the season and allowed just four runs in the series at K-State. TCU is now 4-0 in extra inning games this season and has won seven straight dating back to Jared Janczak (Pitcher) and Nick Lodolo (Newcomer) earned Big 12 Conference weekly honors. Janczak leads the nation with just 4.10 hits allowed per nine innings. TCU swiped six bases at Kansas State and now ranks 14th nationally with 49 on the season. TCU lowered its ERA to 3.38 and now ranks fourth in the Big 12. Austen Wade extended his on-base streak to 15 games, while Cam Warner pushed his hitting streak to 11 games. Nolan Brown increased his Big 12 lead in stolen bases and ranks 16th nationally with 14 on the year. TCU has been getting it done in all facets of the game, hitting.302 as a team, pitching to the tune of a 1.85 ERA and fielding at a.978 clip. Austen Wade leads the offensive surge with a.444 average (12-for-27). Evan Skoug and Cam Warner each have tallied 10 RBIs. On the mound, Brian Howard and Haylen Green each have notched two wins and Durbin Feltman has three saves. The staff is limiting opponents to a.184 batting average. IN A GROOVE The starting rotation has turned in back-toback weekends of solid starts. Jared Janczak, Nick Lodolo and Brian Howard have combined to post a 1.95 ERA, allowing just eight runs in 37 innings of work in sweeps of Oklahoma State and Kansas State. Every starter has made it through five innings in each of their last three starts. On the season, they are a combined 11-3 in 22 starts. They own a 3.59 combined ERA. They have racked up 122 strikeouts, while issuing just 37 walks. COMING AROUND On March 17, Evan Skoug s batting average reached a season-low.175. The next day, the junior went 2-for-4 sparking a 10-game hitting streak. During the streak, Skoug has raised his batting average 75 points to.250. Over the last 10 games, he is hitting.378 (14-for-37) with a double, two home runs, seven runs scored and 14 RBIs. TOUCHING HOME TCU is averaging 6.7 runs per game this season. TCU has pushed across a run in 82 of 237 offensive innings this season, including multiple runs in 42 of those innings. The Frogs have scored at least three runs in 24 games this season and have surpassed five or more runs 20 times. Luken Baker leads the Big 12 with 30 runs scored. Six Horned Frogs have scored at least 20 runs this season. LEADING OFF Austen Wade has been a key cog in TCU s winning streak hitting in the lead-off spot. In seven games played, Wade has led the Frogs with a.444 average. He raised his average 47 points to a team-best.314 in the seven games. Over the last two seasons, Wade has started 78 games in the lead-off spot, including 26 this year. Wade boasts a.385 on-base percentage in the first inning. He has seven multi-hit games this year and ranks third on the team with five multi-rbi contests. TOUGH WITH TWO The Frogs have made their opponents work for the third out in almost every inning of the season. TCU has scored 81 of its 193 runs with two outs in the inning. Twelve Horned Frogs have tallied at least one two-out RBI this season. Came Warner leads the way 12. Josh Watson has collected 10 of his 17 RBIs on the season with two outs. All 13 Frogs with two-out RBIs have at least two. As a team, the Frogs are hitting.275 with two outs. Cam Warner, Evan Skoug and Nolan Brown lead the way with 13 two out hits. WALK THIS WAY TCU is third in the Big 12 and 16th nationally with 151 walks this season. The Frogs have translated free passes into runs at a high rate this season. 57 of the 151 walks have come around to score. Luken Baker leads the Big 12 and ranks 14th nationally with 25 walks this season. He has worked multiple walks in a game six times this year. Austen Wade and Evan Skoug have also worked over 20 walks, each with 21 this year. PILING UP THE Ks The TCU pitching staff ranks third in the Big 12 with 266 strikeouts, an average of 9.65 per nine innings. Of those 266 strikeouts, 78 of them have been of the looking variety. Thirteen times this season, TCU has tallied 10 or more strikeouts in a game. In the 15-inning game against Texas A&M, the Frogs fanned a school-record 26 batters. Jared Janczak leads the Frogs and ranks third in the Big 12 with 50 strikeouts. He has fanned 10 or more in a game twice this season, including a career-high 14 against Kansas. IT S GRAND!! Last week, TCU hit a pair of grand slams, one each from Mason Hesse and Cam Warner. It s the first time since the 2010 season that the Horned Frogs have hit multiple grand slams in one season. TCU hit three in Thirteen of TCU s 25 home runs on the season have come with runners on base. Seven have been two-run shots, while four others have been three-run home runs. EXTRA, EXTRA TCU has played 54 extra inning games since The Frogs hold a mark in those games. The Frogs played a pair of extra-inning games at Kansas State, winning both. TCU took Friday s game by a 5-0 score in 11 innings and Saturday s game 1-0 in 10 innings.. TCU went to extra innings just two times in 2016, winning both contests. The Horned Frogs have won seven straight extra inning contests dating back to 2015.
