He s bidding to be the first Horned Frog since Josh Elander in 2012 to hit double figures in home runs. Elander is the last Frog to hit eight or more home runs in a season. If Watson maintains his team lead in home runs, it ll be the second straight year a freshman has paced the team in long balls. Evan Skoug collected seven home runs in MIDWEEK SUCCESS TCU has a 6-2 record in midweek games this season, including a 2-0 record in midweek contests away from home. The Horned Frogs are averaging 8.5 runs in midweek games despite hitting only.278 as a team. Elliott Barzilli is TCU s top hitter with a.444 average and 10 RBIs. On the mound, TCU is allowing just 3.6 runs per game. Dalton Horton and Rex Hill have combined to start six of the eight games. Jared Janczak has made a teamhigh five appearances. HEATING UP This past weekend, Luken Baker led TCU with seven hits in the series at Oklahoma State. He has at least two hits in five of his last six games. The freshman has reached base safely in 10 straight games and has seen his average climb to.364. He s hitting.500 over his last six games. He leads the team with 12 multiple-rbi games and ranks second with 15 multi-hit contests. Baker has notched at least one hit in 30 games and reached base safely in 33 games. ON THE ROAD AGAIN TCU has played 13 of its past 18 games on the road, posting a 8-5 record in those contests. The Horned Frogs are 12-5 away from Lupton Stadium this season, including an 9-5 mark on an opponent s field. Offensively, TCU has been dominating with a.313 team average. It has outscored its opponent Elliott Barzilli leads all hitters with a.387 average. On the mound, the staff has a 3.70 ERA. Dalton Horton is 3-0 in four starts. Jared Janczak and Durbin Feltman lead the way with seven appearances each. THE TOUGHEST OUT TCU allowed 26 runs in the series loss at Oklahoma State over the weekend. Fourteen of those 26 runs came with two outs in the inning. Prior to this weekend, TCU had done a good job closing an inning as the pitching staff had allowed just 41 with two outs through the first 35 games of the season. THE BIG INNING TCU has shown the ability to put a crooked number on the scoreboard. The Horned Frogs are ranked 16th nationally in scoring with an average of 7.9 runs per game. TCU has scored at least two runs in 72 innings this season. On 29 occasions, the Frogs have pushed across four or more runs in an inning. The Frogs have scored a run in 241 innings this season and have only been retired in order 66 times. NIGHT AND DAY Seven of TCU s 10 losses on the season have come in night games. TCU averages nine runs per game during the day, nearly three more runs per game than night contests. Conversely, opponents are averaging two fewer runs in day games. Defensively, the Frogs perform better in day games with a.973 fielding percentage as opposed to a.968 percentage in night games. LATE INNING SURGE The Frogs have used late-inning surges to erase early deficits and to put games out of reach. TCU has allowed the first run in a game 17 time this season. The Horned Frogs have come back to win 10 of those games. The Frogs have scored just 52 combined runs in the first two innings. The surge comes in the 3rd-5th innings where TCU has scored 45% (137) of its total runs this season).
