Austin Texas Texas Tech USC UT Arlington UT Rio Grande Valley Season Over West Virginia Wichita State ELITE COMPANY With their selection to the field of 64, the Horned Frogs are in elite company. TCU is one of just 12 programs nationally to appear in 12 of the last 13 regionals. Also holding that distinction are Arizona State, Arkansas, Cal State Fullerton, Clemson, Florida State, Miami (Fla.), Ole Miss, Rice, South Carolina, Vanderbilt and Virginia. By virtue of hosting, the Frogs also find themselves in select company as one of only seven schools to host a regional six of the last eight years, joining Florida, Florida State, Louisville, LSU, South Carolina and Virginia. HIT PARADE TCU set a Big 12 Championship record with 72 hits in its five tournament game, breaking the previous record of 71. The Frogs have reached double-digit hit totals in 32 games this season. They rank 30th nationally with 601 hits. BOMBS AWAY TCU hit eight home runs in the Big 12 tournament raising its season total to 48, the most since the 2011 season when it hit 50. TCU has homered in 36 games this year and boasts a 30-6 record in those games. SPEED DEMONS TCU leads the Big 12 and ranks 27th nationally with 87 stolen bases. The Frogs have only been caught stealing 19 times this season. Over the last three seasons, TCU has swiped 298 bases, ranking eighth nationally over that time span. The TCU lineup features seven hitters that have stolen at least nine bases. Elliott Barzilli leads the way with 12 steals, followed by 11 each from Josh Watson and Austen Wade. THE BIG INNING TCU has shown the ability to put a crooked number on the scoreboard. The Horned Frogs are ranked 23rd nationally in scoring with an average of 7.3 runs per game. TCU has scored at least two runs in 100 innings this season. On 36 occasions, the Frogs have pushed across four or more runs in an inning. The Frogs have scored a run in 180 innings this season. A RARITY TCU needed to rally with a ninth inning run to overcome a deficit after eight innings. It was the first time in 15 tries the Frogs have posted a win when trailing after eight this season. It was TCU s first come-back win since rallying from a one-run deficit against NC State in the NCAA Regional Championship game in Under the direction of head coach Jim Schlossnagle, TCU has 23 wins when trailing after eight. #BAKERBOMBS Through his first 47 games, Luken Baker had just three home runs. Since, he has connected for five in his last 10, including four in his last five games to bring his season total to eight. His last two home runs gave TCU a lead in a game it eventually went on to win. On the season, four of his home runs have given TCU the lead. The Frogs are 8-0 in games in which he homers on the season. QUIETLY SURGING Jared Janczak has blossomed in his role as a starting pitcher. Used out of the bullpen for 19 appearances, the redshirt freshman posted a 5-3 record with a 2.22 ERA in 44 2/3 innings pitched. Since joining the rotation, Janczak is 1-0 with a 2.12 ERA in 17 innings pitched. TCU is 2-1 in his three starts this season. Janczak s combined ERA of 2.19 is tops in the Big 12. THE SECRET WEAPON In game two against Texas, Michael Landestoy was inserted into the lineup and produced three hits and scored a run. In the championship game, the sophomore was 2-for-5 and connected on his first career home run. The long ball was also his first career extra base hit. In limited action this season, Landestoy is hitting.313 with 11 RBIs. Six of his RBIs have come off the bench, where he has produced a.294 batting average in 24 appearances. EXTRA, EXTRA For just the second time on the season, TCU needed extra innings to decide a game. Luken Baker s 10th-inning home run stood up as the game-winner as TCU moved to 2-0 in extra innings this season. TCU has played 50 extra inning games since The Frogs hold a mark in those games. The Frogs were 4-3 in extra innings in 2015, including a 2-1 record in postseason play.
