HIS FIRST 50: The Cubs have gone in Kyle Hendricks first 50 career starts for the team that s the Cubs best record in a pitcher s first 50 starts for the team since going in Hank Borowy s first 50 outings from AT THE TOP OF THE ORDER: Dexter Fowler leads the majors with a.460 on base percentage and ranks tied for ninth with a.343 batting average he has hit safely in 13 of his last 16 games and is tied for fourth in the majors with 11 doubles. Fowler has a OPS from the top spot of the order that leads N.L. leadoff hitters (min. 75 plate appearances), and is second in the majors (Jose Altuve, 1.073) Fowler s.456 on base percentage as a leadoff hitter paces the majors, and his.578 slugging percentage is second (Altuve,.664). WALK THIS WAY: Cubs batters lead the majors with 153 walks, 27 ahead of the Pittsburgh Pirates at the same time, Cubs pitchers have issued the 78 free passes, tied for second fewest in the N.L. with Los Angeles the Mets have allowed 67 walks.
