Chicago s 10 runs last night are tied for the most the team has scored in a postseason road game (also done in game one of the 1908 World Series at Detroit) the Cubs just twice have scored more often in a post-season game: 13 runs in game one of the 1984 NLCS vs. San Diego and 12 runs in game two of the 2003 NLCS vs. the Marlins. Chicago had five hits in both the fourth and sixth innings it was their most in a single frame since also having five hits in the sixth inning of game one of the 2003 NLDS in Atlanta it was also the first time in franchise history the Cubs had two such innings in a post-season game thanks to Elias. The Cubs have plated five or more runs in five of their eight post-season contests this month, but have scored just one run combined in the other three games. GETTING IT DONE: Mike Montgomery, last night in relief of starter John Lackey, delivered a single and earned the win he became just the third relief pitcher in LCS history to earn the win and have a hit the others: Nolan Ryan (two hits) for the Mets in game three of the 1969 NLCS against Atlanta and Dick Hall (one hit) for the Orioles in game one of the 1970 ALCS at Minnesota (thanks to Elias). Anthony Rizzo last night became the first Cubs first baseman with three hits in a post-season game since Derrek Lee in game three of the 2008 NLDS against the Dodgers.
