20 ECB Helmets, Fast Bwling Directives and Fielding Regulatins shuld always be adhered t fr junir players in Open age grup cricket Minimum age Players wh are selected in a Cunty U12 squad in spring fr a summer squad r in anther squad deemed by ECB Perfrmance Managers t be f a standard abve district level fr that seasn are eligible t play Open age cricket. This is prviding they are at least 11 years ld, are in Schl Year 7 n 1st September in the year preceding the seasn, and have written parental cnsent t play. In allwing these players t play in pen age cricket it is essential clubs and caches recgnise the duty f care bligatins they have twards these yung players This means bys and girls wh are cunty squad and area squad players, are able t play pen age grup cricket if they are in an U12 age grup and are a minimum f 11 years ld n 1st September f the year preceding the seasn. District and club players wh are nt in a cunty r area squad must wait until they reach the U13 age grup, be in Year 8 and be 12 years ld n 1st September f the preceding year befre being able t play in any pen age grup cricket. As befre written parental cnsent is required fr these players. The duty f care shuld be interpreted in tw ways: Nt t place a yung player in a psitin that invlves an unreasnable risk t that yung player, taking accunt f the circumstances f the match and the relative skills f the player Nt t create a situatin that places members f the ppsing side in a psitin whereby they cannt play cricket as they wuld nrmally d against adult players In additin, the guidelines nte the need fr clubs and leagues t recgnise the psitive experience yung players shuld have in pen age cricket. If girls wh are lder than the specified age grup are allwed t play, the League must specify a maximum age fr the girl players and cnfirm hw many lder girls can play in any team. The same regulatins must apply t all clubs in that League r cmpetitin Fr the sake f clarity it shuld be understd that bys cannt play in girls Leagues r cmpetitins unless explicit prvisin fr this is included in the rules f that League r cmpetitin. Bys cannt play in the ECB girls' cmpetitins Any questins relating t these guidelines shuld be referred t the ECB Cricket Department at Lrd s r cricket@ecb.c.uk.
