Beyond St Andrews is the East Neuk of Fife with its spectacular coastline which boasts fishing villages built around picturesque harbours and sandy unspoilt beaches. The venue for the annual Fife Hunt point-to-point is nearby at Balcormo, which also hosts various horse shows and Pony Club events. Access by rail, road and air is good. Leuchars railway station (4 miles) is on the main Aberdeen to London line and provides a fast link to Dundee and Edinburgh. Edinburgh Airport, with its increasingly wide range of domestic and international flights, is only 50 miles away. Description 19 Pilmour Links is an exceptional Georgian stone built property which is steeped in history. It is believed to have been built in 1826, pre-dating all the other houses in the terrace and also the Royal & Ancient Club House (1854). There are sketches showing the house as the only dwelling overlooking the Old Course when golf was first played on the Links. The property was built for the Playfair family and was the retirement home of Sir Robert Lambert Playfair, who was born in St. Andrews in 1828 and was in the Indian Political Service before becoming Consul-General of Algeria.
