Supplementary Reports: WARWICK FARM Wednesday 2 August 2016 Race 7: tab.com.au Handicap 1400m Abohar Mr R Laming, trainer of Abohar, which performed disappointingly in the above race advised that he was satisfied with the mare s post-race condition. He said that the mare had experienced significant travelling over the last six starts and may have reached the end of its preparation. He indicated that an assessment of Abohar will be made once it returns to his Melbourne stables and a decision whether to continue with her preparation will be determined. RACE 1: Sprint 1200m The Mighty Fed slow to begin and then soon after was tightened for room between Brave Song and Shogun Sun, both of which shifted ground. Shogun Sun for some distance leaving the 300m had some difficulty obtaining clear running when attempting to take a narrow run between Addictive Nature and Solar Patch. Wild Heart inclined to race greenly and shifted ground when under pressure in the straight. Solar Patch near the 150m became unbalanced when bumped by Wild Heart, which shifted in. Brave Song when questioned regarding the performance, rider K McEvoy stated that the colt travelled strongly in the run and improved into the race well making the home turn. He said when placed fully under pressure his mount did not respond as he had anticipated and the two explanations he could offer were that the colt was not entirely comfortable on today s Soft (7) track conditions and in addition may have come to the end of its preparation. K McEvoy added that he had ridden Brave Song in trackwork on Tuesday, 1 August 2017, where the colt had worked well and was expected to perform accordingly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a small puncture wound to the outside of the off-fore cannon. Co-trainer Mr Paul Snowden advised that Brave Song had pleased since its last start at Canterbury on 26 July 2017 and in his opinion is still somewhat immature. He indicated the colt would now be spelled.

2 2 RACE 2: #Theraces Handicap 1800m Shanakee slow to begin and then was crowded between Long Time Ago and La Chica Bella, both of which began awkwardly and shifted ground. Miss Dubois slow to begin. Wahng Wah - from its wide barrier steadied and shifted in behind runners shortly after the start. Lani Girl - from its wide barrier steadied and shifted in behind runners shortly after the start. Labdien rider J Collett explained that his mount made the home turn awkwardly, was inclined to lay out and from this point was disappointing in its failure to finish the race off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the near-foreleg. Trainer Mr C Waller advised that the Labdien would now be retired. Stewards ruled that irrespective, if the gelding was to race again, a veterinary clearance would be required. RACE 3: Cindy Sullivan Memorial Handicap 1400m He s A Given the Club's Veterinary Officer reported that an examination of the gelding revealed it was displaying blood in its nearside nostril. Acting on veterinary advice that He s A Given was not suitable to race, the gelding was withdrawn at 12.44pm. The Stewards ruled that all monies invested on He s A Given be refunded in full and that all successful wagers made prior to 12.44pm be subject to the following deductions in the face value of each ticket: 1 st King Darcy 11 cents win 9 cents place 2 nd Imperator Augustus 10 cents place 3 rd Francesco 12 cents place Trainer Mr C Conners was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required and the gelding must gallop to the satisfaction of the Stewards or barrier trial prior to being permitted to race again. Muraqaba slow to begin. Sonic Swish slow to begin. abnormalities. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any Francesco - steadied and shifted in behind runners shortly after the start. On straightening was bumped by Muraqaba, which shifted out to improve around the heels of Zaunkonig. Rider T Berry reported his mount was inclined to lay in under pressure in the straight. Dane Thunder began awkwardly and then shortly after the start was bumped on the hindquarter by Brazen, which shifted in. Rider J Ford stated advised the gelding had the run of the race in behind the leader Imperator Augustus, but was disappointing in its failure to respond. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the nearforeleg. Trainer Mr S Bottomley reported Dane Thunder had travelled well to Sydney and had had no issues. Mr Bottomley was advised he must provide a veterinary clearance prior to the gelding racing again.

3 3 Brazen inclined to lay in under pressure in the early part of the straight. Close to the finish became awkwardly placed on the heels of Imperator Augustus and could not be tested from that point. RACE 4: TAB Highway Supports Jockeys Trust 1400m Magic Arli slow to begin. Makfi Lass slow to begin. Maybe Even You after being slow to begin, was crowded for room between Assurity and Fraternater, which was taken out by Gitan. Then was steadied and shifted in behind runners shortly after the start. Care To Think - from its wide barrier steadied and shifted in behind runners shortly after the start. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the straight and proved difficult to ride out. Stop The Fight near the 300m had to be steadied when crowded between Maybe Even You and Makfi Lass, which shifted in away from Care To Think despite the efforts of its rider. Gitan rider T Clark stated he had to make use of his mount to cross to the lead, however after obtaining the lead, his mount never travelled well at any stage of the event and was disappointing in its failure to respond in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination the gelding to be displaying a poor post-race recovery, an elevated heart rate and increased respiratory rate. Trainer Mr J Dubois advised Stewards that the gelding had been in work for some time during this preparation and, although it had pleased him leading into today s race, which included a third in a barrier trial at Warwick Farm on 28 July 2017, he indicated he would now spell Gitan. Mr Dubois undertook to report back if anything additional was amiss with the gelding subsequent to the race. Fraternater when questioned, C Reith stated his instructions were to be forward, but the mare, which was standing awkwardly, was hampered at the start and shifted out, obliging him to race back in the field. He said his mount raced greenly throughout the early and middle stages and near the 800m, when he urged it along in an endeavour to have it travel, commenced to race keenly and as a result became awkward on the heels of Care To Think for a short distance. He added leaving the 700m he was again able to obtain cover on the back of that runner, but his mount dropped the bit and came immediately under pressure, where he was obliged to ride it along to hold its position on the back of the field. C Reith further stated he continued to ride the mare hard in the early part of the straight and it was not until near the 250m where Fraternater responded to his urgings and closed the race off reasonably. RACE 5: John & Denise Cobcroft Recognition Handicap 2400m Go Benny slow to begin. Get On The Grange raced keenly throughout the early stages, which resulted in App. B McDougall shifting off three deep near the 1600m and was then obliged to race wide without cover for the remainder of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had quartered its near-hind heel. King s Officer approaching the 700m was taken wider when Go Benny shifted out to the outside of the heels of Celestial Choice to improve.

4 4 Celestial Choice making the home turn was placed in restricted room between Go Benny and Four Carat, which was taken out by Sayed (K McEvoy). K McEvoy was advised to ensure he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground. In this incident Go Benny was bumped on the hindquarter by Celestial Choice and became unbalanced. Life O Brien rider J Parr explained that the gelding travelled satisfactorily, but came under pressure after the 600m and was a beaten horse prior to the turn for home. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Co-trainer Mr E Cummings advised Life O Brien will undergo a veterinary examination on return to the stable and he will report to the Stewards on the future race plans for the gelding. Count Of Limonade a post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr P Robl advised the gelding would now return to Melbourne. Notwithstanding this advice, Mr Robl was advised Count Of Limonade would be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial prior to racing again. Global Gentl a post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding was displaying a poor post-race recovery. Co-trainer Mr T Busuttin advised that the gelding had pleased since arriving in Sydney and he had elected to start it in this race so it could race on a surface with some give. He said he was unable to offer any excuse for today s disappointing performance and undertook to report to the Stewards if there was anything additional amiss with Global Gentl post-race. Mr Busuttin was asked to provide a veterinary clearance before the gelding races again. Ashlee Marie rider K Forrester stated that the mare raced a little keenly in the early stages, but he could offer no real excuse for its failure to finish the race off. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. RACE 6: Jockey Celebration Day Handicap 1600m So Willie slow to begin. Invincible Knight slow to begin. From its wide barrier steadied and shifted in behind runners shortly after the start. Hollywood Bound slow to begin. After being crossed by Zayam near the 1000m, commenced to race keenly and was restrained from the heels of that runner for some distance. Steyne slow to begin. Zin Zan Eddie raced keenly in the middle stages and was steadied away from the heels of Hollywood Bound. Gold Ambition when questioned regarding his riding, T Clark stated, as notified to the Stewards, his instructions had been to ride the gelding quietly today in an endeavour to find cover. He said from his wide draw, in accordance with his instructions, he rode his mount quietly in the early stages with a view to taking up a position one off to the outside of Zin Zan Eddie. He said near the 1000m when the tempo steadied, Zin Zan Eddie remained one off the rail, which resulted in Gold Ambition being caught three wide without cover for the remainder

5 5 of the race. T Clark added, as he approached the 700m, he was then taken wider when the winner Steyne shifted out and as a consequence he was obliged to make the home turn without cover. Trainer Mr B Baker advised that today s instructions were issued in an attempt to have Gold Ambition re-establish its form as they had been disappointed with its last start at Randwick on 22 July 2017 when the gelding gave ground after leading. RACE 7: Missile Stakes (Group 2) 1200m Tycoon Tara rider K McEvoy stated the mare missed the start and consequently raced back in the field. He said throughout the early and middle stages the mare was reluctant to stretch out, principally due to receiving kickback and soon after straightening, when under full pressure, found the line reasonably. Co-trainer Mr Paul Snowden advised Tycoon Tara would now be retired. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Harper s Choice slow to begin. The Monstar made contact with Invincible Gem at the start. Overraced in the middle stages. Invincible Gem made contact with The Monstar at the start. Le Romain raced wide without cover throughout. Jungle Edge Rider K Forrester stated that is mount raced a little keen in the run, particularly when Memes improved to his outside in the early stages. He added in the circumstances, having regard to the fact that Jungle Edge was racing fresh today, he was not overly disappointed with the performance of the gelding. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Memes a post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be displaying a poor postrace recovery and mild thumps. Trainer Mr J Coyle advised Memes would now be spelled. RACE 8: tab.com.au Handicap 1000m Gendebien as T Berry was overweight due to illness, permission was granted for C Reith to be substituted as the rider of the gelding. Rider C Reith stated, whilst he was instructed to take up a forward position if possible, he was also instructed not to make use of his mount to do so. He said from his wide draw he was then caught wide throughout the early and middle stages when Salerno to his inside held its position and accordingly raced wide without cover throughout the event and further back than anticipated. Pro Consul from its wide barrier steadied and shifted in behind runners shortly after the start. Beau Tirage inclined to overrace in the middle stages and near the 800m, when being crossed by Johnny Roo Boy, got its head up and had to be eased from that runner s heels. Realise Potential when questioned regarding this riding in the early part of the straight, T Clark stated he followed Cudabeen into the straight with a view to that runner taking him into the race. He said when Cudabeen did not quicken as he had anticipated he then, after being briefly held up on the heels of that runner, shifted to its outside in order to improve and obtain clear running approaching the 200m.

6 6 Lion Couchant J Collett, rider of Sangiovese, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that over the concluding stages he permitted his mount to shift out whilst riding along when not clear of Lion Couchant, resulting in Lion Couchant losing its running and having to be checked. J Collett s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence at the expiration of a suspension he incurred at Warwick Farm on Wednesday, 2 August 2017, namely on Saturday, 2 September 2017, and to expire on Saturday, 9 September 2017, on which day he may ride. Cudabeen rider C Brown stated his mount was fractious in the barriers and missed the start slightly. He added the mare raced keenly in the run, particularly approaching the 700m, where he was obliged to restrain away from the heels of Beau Tirage. He added under pressure in the straight Cudabeen was disappointing in its failure to respond and he could offer no further explanation for the performance. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Co-trainer Mr Paul Snowden indicated in his view Cudabeen may not have been entirely comfortable in today s Soft (6) track conditions and undertook to report back if anything is amiss with the mare subsequent to the race. C Brown was spoken to regarding returning to scale 0.9 over his allocated weight. RACE 9: Schweppes Handicap 1200m Clipper late withdrawal at 7.45am on veterinary advice when trainer Mr M Dale reported the mare had abraded its near-fore heel. Mr Dale was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to Clipper racing again. Star Crossed the gelding, which was late arriving on course due to a float breakdown, was examined by the Club s Veterinary Officer and cleared to start. App. A Adkins stated that his mount commenced well from its wide barrier and he was able to cross and lead, but was most disappointing in the manner in which it weakened in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr P Atkins advised Star Crossed will now be spelled. Bolero King slow to begin. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Inside the 200m raced in restricted room between Mana and Spending To Win as Spending To Win who to improve. In this incident Spending To Win and Bolero King made contact on a number of occasions. Alluvion slow to begin. Kings Of Leon slow to begin and shortly after the start was checked when crowded for room between Ghostly and Denarius, which was taken out by Phuket. Rider T Angland stated that his mount raced a little keenly with the moderate tempo, but once into clear running on straightening failed to finish the race off. He added in his view Kings Of Leon may be better suited over 1100m and kept freshened for its races. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying muscle soreness behind. Trainer Mr M Smith advised Kings Of Leon would now be spelled. Last Witness briefly held up in the early part of the straight before shifting to the outside of Phuket to obtain clear running near the 250m. Denarius pulled hard throughout the middle stages of the event.

7 7 Mana raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. Phuket raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. Ghostly - from its wide barrier was shifted in behind runners in the early stages and was unable to obtain cover and ultimately raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. Spending To Win rider App. J Innes Jr stated his mount overraced throughout the early and middle stages of the event. He added on straightening, as he endeavoured to improve, his mount was reluctant to take a run to the outside of Alluvion and was only one-paced in the run to the winning post. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. App. J Innes Jr was reprimanded under AR137A(4)(b) in respect to using his whip in a manner that raised his whip arm above shoulder height. GENERAL: Summary of whip use: Stewards noted the following riders exceeded the permitted strikes of the whip prior to the 100m under AR137A(5)(a)(ii).
