Rail: True Penetrometer: 4.91 STEWARDS: M F Van Gestel (Chairman), P C Dingwall, R W Livingstone, T P Moxon and cadet C K McIntosh (jl) Supplementary Reports: WARWICK FARM Wednesday 28 December 2016 Race 3: Hyland Race Colours Handicap 1600m Cosmic Engine trainer Mr C Waller advised he was satisfied with the post-race condition of the colt and indicate, having regard to its performance which was below expectations, it would now be spelled. RANDWICK Monday 26 December 2016 Race 4: TAB Rewards Mile 1600m Dixie Chick trainer Mr D Pfieffer advised the mare had jarred up. He added Dixie Chick had now been sent for a spell. RACE 1: TAB Plate 1100m All Too Huiying at the request of rider C Reith the colt underwent a veterinary examination on arrival at the barriers and was subsequently declared unfit to start on veterinary advice at 12.36pm when it was found to be lame behind. Stewards subsequently ordered that all monies wagered on All Too Huiying be refunded in full and with regard to betting with bookmakers all successful wagers made prior to 12.36pm to be subject to the following deductions in the dollar on the face value of the ticket: 1st) From Within less 7ȼ win and 4ȼ place 2nd) Invader less 14ȼ place Trainer Mr G Moore was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to All Too Huiying racing again. French Skyline slow to muster speed. Near the 400m laid in and brushed the running rail. Chauffeur began awkwardly, shifted in and made contact with the hindquarter of Exceeds and became unbalanced. Overraced in the early stages, refused to settle and got its head up. Exceeds bumped on jumping by Invader, which shifted out. Raced keenly in the early stages. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the straight.

2 2 Charlie Chap raced keenly when being restrained in the early and middle stages and raced wide without cover throughout. Near the 500m was hampered when Chauffeur shifted out. RACE 2: Schweppes Handicap 1100m Fanning knuckled on jumping and bumped Miss Amajardan. Near the 650m was steadied to avoid the heels of Spending To Win (B Shinn), which shifted in when not clear. B Shinn was reprimanded and advised to ensure he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground. Magnetar, which was trailing Fanning, was steadied. Miss Amajardan knuckled on jumping and bumped Fanning. Shortly after the start crowded between Fanning and Magnetar, both of which shifted ground. Magnetar slow to begin. Rider J Collett stated the gelding was unsuited by racing too keenly in the run and consequently was left without a finishing effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding lost its near-fore plate in running. Stable representative Mr R Roberts undertook to report back on the condition of Magnetar subsequent to the race. Geneteau shortly after the start was crowded between Fanning and Magnetar, both of which shifted ground. Rider B Avdulla stated, after being hampered on jumping, his mount was then inclined to race greenly when racing inside other runners. He added near the 600m his mount shifted in and made contact with the running rail, became unbalanced and from this point did not travel comfortably in the race. B Avdulla further stated that when under pressure in the straight he had some concerns with the action of the filly and for this reason he did not fully test it to the finish. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be displaying a poor post-race recovery. Stable representative Mr J Bruce will report back to the Stewards on the progress of Geneteau in the days subsequent. Super Too a post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be mildly lame in the near-foreleg. Trainer Mr M Conners advised the Stewards that, although Super Too had sustained a haematoma when kicked by the Clerk of the Course at Randwick on 17 December 2016, the haematoma quickly resolved and the filly had pleased the stable since that day. Mr Conners added, in light of today's performance, Super Too would now be spelled. Weatherly an inquiry was opened into the circumstances of the colt being restrained out of the event near the 600m due to sustaining fractures to the near-fore sesamoid. After being inspected by the Club's Veterinary Officers, Weatherly was euthanased on humane grounds. After taking evidence from rider A Adkins, trainer Mr P Messara and veterinarian Dr J Bruyn, the inquiry was adjourned so that Mr Messara, who advised there had been no issues with the colt in the lead up to today's race, can provide his veterinary and treatment records for Weatherly. Weatherly was transported to the University Teaching Hospital, Camden for necropsy, the results of which will be reported to the Stewards. A track inspection conducted by Stipendiary Steward Mr T Moxon revealed no issues with the racing surface. Spending To Win - B Shinn was fined $200 under AR145 for weighing in 1 kilogram over his allocated weight. RACE 3: New Years Eve Handicap 1250m Bold Carlota near the 1100m was bumped by Invincible Gem, which shifted in. Rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight was held up and unable to improve when

3 3 awkwardly placed on the heels of the weakening Aghna. Bolt Carlota was then obliged to shift back in to secure clear running passing the 100m. L'elu laid in in the early stages. In the in the early part of the straight was inclined to lay in and was reluctant to shift to the outside of Bold Carlota to find clear running. Invincible Gem approaching the 600m became badly unbalanced when bumped by Miss Wonderland (B Shinn) as that runner shifted to obtain a position one off on the back of Aghna. The Stewards reprimanded B Shinn and, whilst they accepted the contact between the two horses had been exacerbated when Miss Wonderland was turned out due to the contact, he was nevertheless advised he must exercise more care when performing similar manoeuvres. Invincible Gem was then obliged to race three wide without cover for the remainder of the event. My True Love rider A Hyeronimus stated his mount travelled comfortably behind the early leader Improvement. He added, when placed under pressure making the home turn, his mount did not respond to his efforts and was very one-paced in its finish effort. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mrs G Waterhouse advised that her intention was now to step My True Love up in distance and consideration will be given to backing the filly up at Monday's Royal Randwick meeting over 1600m. Stewards advised Mrs Waterhouse that, should the filly take its place in the field, it will be inspected by the Club's Veterinary Officer prior to starting. Aghna a post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Stable representative Mr R Roberts advised the filly would now be returned to Melbourne and freshened up. RACE 4: TAB Highway Handicap 1250m Dalmatia Prince the colt, which had been fractious in the barriers, began awkwardly. Passing the 1200m was crowded for room by Dramatico, which was taken in by Beau Tirage. Approaching the first turn improved onto the heels of Hesco Gold and was steadied. Held up for clear running in the early part of the straight and near the 100m shifted to the inside of Hesco Gold to find clear running. Hesco Gold began awkwardly. Free Standing slow to begin. Overraced in the early stages. Atom Eve made the first turn awkwardly. Beau Tirage overraced in the lead. Dramatico near the 600m the mare, which was inclined to race keenly, improved onto the heels of Free Standing and was checked. Yeatman raced wide without cover throughout. Exitozo a post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer Mr S Thompson was advised a veterinary clearance, including the

4 4 satisfactory results of an ECG, must be provided prior to Exitozo barrier trialling to the satisfaction of the Stewards. RACE 5: #Theraces Handicap 1900m One Touch slow to begin. Shortly after the start was bumped on the hindquarter by Liapari. Liapari - began awkwardly and then shortly after was crowded by Collar, which shifted out and made contact with Liapari. In the incident both Liapari and Collar became unbalanced. Near the 1700m Liapari raced in restricted from when crowded by Admiral Jello, which laid in away from Obsidian. Rustic Melody rider B Avdulla stated he was under no specific instructions as to where to ride the mare. He added on jumping, when his mount commenced well, he elected to take advantage of his good start and consequently was able to take up a more forward position today. B Avdulla said Rustic Melody was disappointing in its failure to finish the race off. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Promas rider J Ford stated his mount was under pressure from as far out as the 600m and raced flat today. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Cotrainer Mr M Hawkes confirmed that Promas would now be spelled. Tradtri a post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. RACE 6: TAB Rewards Handicap 1550m All Cerise knuckled on jumping and in so doing made contact with Loyalty Man. Shortly after straightening was hampered when Duca Valentinois shifted in. Hetty Heights near the 1500m All Cerise (App. L Magorrian) shifted out when not clear of Duca Valentinois, which was taken out across the running of Hetty Heights, which was steadied. Onemorezeta, which was racing to the outside of Hetty Heights was hampered and carried wider. App. Magorrian was reprimanded. Himalaya Dream when the tempo steadied in the middle stages commenced to overrace. Redoutable Heart rounding the turn near the 600m hung in badly away from Duca Valentinois and was checked away from the heels of Loyalty Man after making contact with that runner. In the incident Loyalty Man became unbalanced. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be severely lame in the off-foreleg. Redoutable Heart was treated on course. Trainer Mr C Waller was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to Redoutable Heart racing again. The post-race condition of Redoutable Heart will be followed up with trainer Mr C Waller. Gold Ambition when racing tight on the running rail near the 50m became unbalanced. Onemorezeta rider B Avdulla stated that, after striking some interference at the start, his mount failed to travel at any stage of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the near-foreleg. Trainer Mr K Lees was advised a veterinary clearance would be require prior to Onemorezeta racing again.

5 5 RACE 7: Canterbury Classic (Listed) 1200m His Majesty got its head up on jumping. Decision Time after being slow to begin, knuckled and was crowded between Wouldnt It Be Nice and Shiraz, which shifted in. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the off-foreleg. Trainer Mr C Conners was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the gelding racing again. Boss Lane tightened for room near the 600m by Strawberry Boy, which in turn was crowded by I Am Zelady, which hung in away from Ball Of Muscle despite the efforts of its rider. A short distance later I Am Zelady then shifted back out, became awkward on the heels of Ball Of Muscle and carried Princefamous wider. Big Money steadied to avoid the heels of Boss Lane near the 600m. Sirbible rounding the home turn commenced to race keenly and was steadied away from the heels of Princefamous. Soon after straigthening was inconvenienced when steadied to avoid the heels of Flippant, which was taken out by Le Cordon Blue (C Reith), which shifted out when not clear. C Reith was advised to ensure he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be mildly lame in the offforeleg and had abrasions to the off-hind cannon. Trainer Mr R Bell was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to Sirbible racing again. Princefamous raced wide without cover throughout. Flippant rounding the home turn was crowded and taken out onto Sirbible when Le Cordon Bleu shifted out to improve. Strawberry Boy briefly held up for clear running in the early part of the straight, before shifting to the outside of Grunderzeit near the 50m to obtain clear running. Denpurr held up for clear running until near the 50m. Le Cordon Bleu when questioned regarding the improved performance of the gelding, cotrainer Mr M Hawkes stated that, as instanced in the Stewards' report at Rosehill on 19 November 2016, the gelding was found to have tachycardia post-race, but other than that had pulled up with no other abnormalities. He added Le Cordon Bleu had pleased the stable in a trial on 20 December 2016 and the stable had expected it to return to form today. Mr Hawkes said the other factors which had advantaged the gelding today were that it had performed well when racing at Canterbury and was assisted by the genuine early tempo, which allowed it to finish the race of with its light weight. His Majesty when questioned regarding the gelding being ridden in a more forward position, J Ford stated he was issued with instructions to race prominently from its inside barrier. Trainer Mrs K Waugh explained that the gelding began only fairly at its most recent start and as the track appeared to be favouring on-paced runners today it was the intention to have the gelding race in about fourth or fifth position. She said that, bearing in mind the gelding began well, she was satisfied with the gelding racing just behind the speed. Trainer Mrs K Waugh was reminder of her obligation to notify Stewards of any change or rider tactics.

6 6 RACE 8: tab.com.au Handicap 1200m Choice We Had after being slow to begin, shifted out and made contact with the hindquarter of Art Nouveau and became unbalanced. Choice We had and Art Nouveau raced in restricted room near the 1100m when Noble Joey laid in. War Jet raced keenly in the early stages. Avonaco near the 800m was briefly tightened by Noble Joey, which laid in away from Niccolance. Petrossian near the 600m, after improving to the inside of War Jet (App. J Pracey-Holmes), had to be steadied when crowded by that runner, which shifted in away from Deploy (App. J Innes Jr). Both App. Pracey-Holmes and App. Innes Jr were advised to ensure that they give sufficient room to runners to their inside. Held up rounding the home turn. Near the 150m briefly inconvenienced when improving into a narrow run to the inside of Niccolance. Art Nouveau was obliged to shift out around the heels of Noble Joey in order to continue to improve. Disgraceful raced wide without cover throughout. Niccolance when questioned regarding the performance of the colt, rider A Hyeronimus stated he was obliged to make some use of his mount to cross Noble Joey in the early stages and as a consequence this effort told in the straight, whereby the colt was unable to finish the race off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the colt to be making an abnormal respiratory noise. Co-trainer Mr Peter Snowden concurred with the views of A Hyeronimus that he had to make too much use of the colt in the early stages, which contributed to its disappointing performance. Mr Snowden undertook to report back on the progress of Niccolance subsequent to the race and indicated it is the stable's intention to race the colt in the Magic Millions carnival. Mr Snowden was advised a veterinary clearance would be required, including the results of an endoscopic examination, prior to the colt's next start. Mediterranean rider S Baster stated from his wide draw he was obliged to race back further than had been intended to get cover, but the gelding never really travelled into the race and was disappointing in its failure to finish the race off. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Co-trainer Mr Peter Snowden advised that Mediterranean had pleased the stable leading into today's race, including that he was satisfied with its blood count and its barrier trial leading into the race. He added that he would report back to the Stewards on the condition of the gelding in the days subsequent. RACE 9: Australian Turf Club Handicap 1200m Madame Giselle after being slow to begin, was crowded shortly after when Roeinda shifted in. Shahrazad made contact with Raiment on jumping. Making the first turn shifted in away from Roeinda and made contact with the running rail. Rounding the home turn Shahrazad and Roeinda raced tight as Shahrazad attempted to shift out in order to improve. Pienkna from its wide barrier, was shifted across runners in the early stages.

7 7 In Her Time hampered making the first turn. Raiment made contact with Shahrazad on jumping. For some distance near the 800m raced in restricted room when In Her Time shifted in. Badly held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight, before shifting to the inside of In Her Time near the 100m to secure clear running. GENERAL: Swab samples were taken from all winners and the following runners: Race 1: Invader, French Skyline, Exceeds, From Within (2), Chauffeur. Race 2: Weatherly, Super Too, Miss Amajardan (2). Race 3: Miss Wonderland, Flying Jess, Invincible Gem, Aghna, Lélu, Seventhchic. Race 4: Atom Eve (2), Yeatman, Dalmatia Prince, Exitozo, Beau Tirage. Race 5: Rustic Melody, Liapari, Obsidian, Tradtri, Promas, Admiral Jello. Race 6: Dances On Stars, Onemorezeta, Loyalty Man (2), Duca Valentinois, Redoutable Heart, Gold Ambition. Race 7: Ball Of Muscle, Big Money, Strawberry Boy, Boss Lane, I Am Zelady, Wouldnt It Be Nice. Race 8: War Jet, Disgraceful, Art Nouveau, Petrossian.
