2 TODAY'S STARTING PITCHER #47 RHP Johnny Cueto 5-11, 229, 32 years old (February 15, 1986) 3-0 Record, 0.84 ERA The two-time All-Star (2014 & 2016) returned from his rehab assignment and was reinstated from the disabled list prior to tonight's game to make his sixth start of the season. Was placed on the DL on May 1 with right elbow infl ammation...saw Dr. James Andrews on May 7 and was diagnosed with an elbow sprain..missed the Giants last 61 games. Made his fi rst rehab start with triple-a Sacramento Saturday, June 23 and tossed 3.2-scoreless innings, allowing one hit with four strikeouts (threw 48 pitches, 33 strikes)...made his second rehab start with triple-a Sacramento last Friday and tossed 4.0-scoreless innings, allowing four hits and one walk with six strikeouts (69 pitches, 44 strikes). The Giants are 4-1 in his starts this year and (.661) overall since he joined the team in Prior to landing on the DL, Cueto had allowed just three runs in 32.0 innings of work (0.84 ERA), covering his fi ve starts. Also missed nine games from April with a left ankle sprain, an injury he suffered while working out in the Giants' gym...missed just one start.
