2 #57 RHP Dereck Rodriguez 6-1, 215, 26 years old (June 5, 1992) 5-1 Record, 2.59 ERA 26-year-old right-hander is slated to make his 11th Major League start (13th appearance) today...the Giants are 8-2 overall when he takes the hill as a starter. Since making his big league debut on May 29, he's been one of the best Giants pitchers and one of the top NL rookies...leads all NL rookies in ERA (2.59), tied for second in wins (5), fourth in OPS (.680) and fourth in opponents batting average against (.226). His ERA is the fourth-lowest among all rookie starters in the big leagues behind TB's Ryne Stanek (2.13), TOR's Ryan Borucki (2.30), and BOS' Brian Johnson (2.57) (min. 25.0ip). Beginning June 24, his 1.49 ERA (7er, 42.1ip) is the third-best in the Majors behind Boston's Chris Sale (0.23) and Philadelphia's Vince Velasquez (1.35) (min. 25.0ip). Last pitched Tuesday afternoon at San Diego and received a no decision in the Giants' 3-2 victory... limited the Padres to one run on three hits in 7.0 innings with a season-high seven strikeouts.
