Brkshire Cmmunity Assciatin News There was a discussin abut develping a resurce list f residents that have services t ffer. A frm will be develped t gather this infrmatin and it will be the resident s respnsibility t keep their infrmatin up t date. Further infrmatin will be frthcming. If a cmmunity event is planned, whether it may require financial aid r nt, HOA will need t be ntified 60 days prir t the scheduled event. The Event Request frm will be changed t nte this new guideline. New banners have been installed at bth entrances. The n sliciting signs at the nrth entrance has been mved t make it mre visible. Mre speed limit signs have been placed arund the cmmunity. A new event sign fr the nrth entrance is n rder. There were 9 teams in the Wmen s League, 9 teams in the Men s league, and 8 teams in the Mixed League. They recmmended the fllwing: Participants will chse their wn partner fr their team. Once again, there will be NO captains. Rather, any f the 4 n a scheduled match can make arrangements as t date & time t play their matches. The start f league play will be scheduled ne mnth later than usual t allw mre time fr the snwbirds t return frm FL t sign up & play. Play will take place during May & June. FUN AEROBICS Fun Aerbics is held n Mndays, Tuesdays, and Thursday at 6:30 PM in the Banquet Rm (r Fitness Rm). There is n need t sign up r register. Bth men and wmen are crdially invited t participate in this class any time their schedule permits. YOGA Yga classes will be held again staring in January Classes are taught by Karen Jiwa. She is a very experienced Yga instructr and takes int accunt the capabilities f Brkshire residents and mdifies the exercises accrdingly. This class meets in the Banquet Hall each Wednesday evening frm 6:30-7:30 p.m. The dates fr the next sessin will be sn annunced. SHUFFLEBOARD Titus & Nelsn prvided an excellent plycurt n which Brkshire residents culd play shufflebard this spring, summer & fall. Abut 25 residents participated in tw shufflebard classes. Residents enjyed playing shufflebard n an infrmal, casual basis. The Fitness Cmmittee has recmmended that a shufflebard league be rganized fr this spring in a like manner as that fr bcce

4 Residents will learn mre abut this in future Residents meetings, in frthcming newsletters, and n the website. The shufflebard curt was placed in strage ver the winter and will be installed nce again April 1, This will extend the life f the plycurt fr lng-term, future use. TABLE TENNIS Residents meet every Thursday at 3:00 p.m. t play pick-up games fr fun. Usually, dubles are played and players chse new teams fr each game. The game is highly spirited and anyne wh has ever played table tennis is invited t participate. If there are mre than 4 players, players take turns sitting ut fr a game t allw all thers t play. Althugh it is typical fr men t participate in this activity, wmen are als invited t play as well. GROUP FITNESS CLASS A new fitness class is currently being ffered fr Brkshire residents frm Nvember 7 thrugh December 12. This cnsists f lw impact strength training. The class meets n Wednesday evenings frm 6:30-7:15PM. Registratin is nt required; neither is equipment. Equipment is ptinal and cnsists f small hand weights (2, 3 r 4 punds) and exerbands (resistance tubing with handles). FITNESS ROOM Residents are reminded f the fllwing guidelines fr using the Fitness Rm: 6 A.M. 12 MIDNIGHT SIGN IN FORM ON COUNTER ONE TIME SIGN RELEASE FORM ON COUNTER ONE TIME! FOR FITNESS ROOM USE & FOR ALL GROUP EXERCISE CLASSES, FUN AEROBICS, YOGA, ETC. WATER ONLY PLEASE USE ANTIBACTERIAL WIPES TO WIPE DOWN EACH PIECE OF EXERCISE EQUIPMENT YOU USE IMMEDIATELY AFTER USING IT. PLACE A WIPE IN A PAPER CUP IF YOU ARE GOING TO USE MORE THAN ONE MACHINE. IF DRIES OUT, SPRAY WITH ANTIBACTERIAL AEROSOL SPRAY. MOVIE NIGHT Mvie night will be Dec. 14 th instead f the nrmal first Friday because f the Christmas tree lighting. Plar Express is the first mvie starting at 6PM. The secnd mvie The Avengers will start arund 7:55PM. Bth mvies are safe t watch s bring yur children and grandchildren with yu. Free ppcrn at all mvies and drinks $1.00. The fun band will be playing a few Christmas carls and ther tunes at the Christmas tree lighting n December 7 th at the Cmmunity building. 6 ADVISORY COMMITTEE n Rules and Regulatins The year 2013 will bring new members and a new chairman fr the cmmittee. We welcmed Glria Gehret and Iggy Taylr fur ur cmmittee in recent mnths. In December, Lenny Burns will jin the cmmittee. The chairman f the cmmittee will be determined by the members in January. As this will be my last article as chairman, I wuld just like t ask the cmmunity t remember a few items f imprtance: A. The rules are psted n the Brkshire website. Please take sme time t read them again. Many times, the answers t yur questins are lcated within the rules. B. All landscaping additins/replacements and structural changes need t be reviewed by the cmmittee. A written request with plans must be submitted fr apprval prir t any landscaping changes/additins r structural changes. Request frms can be fund n the Brkshire website r in the news rm f the cmmunity center. I wuld like t take this pprtunity t thank my cmmittee members fr their time and service fr the past 2 ½ years. Als, we will be taking 2 FULL bxes f items that included tthbrushes, pencils, erasers, 39 crcheted hats, crayns, tys, scks, ntebks, cmbs, and many ther items.
