2 Minutes frm January 3 rd, 2011 Meeting Steven Cle (Directr) called the meeting t rder. Steve Hind (Assistant Chaplain) pened the meeting with a prayer. He reminded everyne t ntify him f any sickness, hspital stays, etc f club members. Ruth Tpping (Secretary) wished everyne Happy New Year. There were nt any minutes t read since the December Christmas Dinner tk place f the meeting. Patsy Lenard (Treasurer) gave us the balances in the accunts as fllws $1, in the general accunt, $6, in the raffle accunt. Rachel Hind (Merchandise) has shirts fr $15.00, 2 fr $ Once they are gne they are gne. There will nt be any new shirts bught until the ld shirts are sld. Patty Cle (Jurnalist) asks questins abut the jurnal t check t see wh was reading it. She asks miscellaneus questins frm the jurnal and everyne appeared t have read the jurnal. Cassandra Rauhauser (Ladies f Harley) Cassandra talked abut the LOH ladies night n January 19th at Freeburnes. She thanked all f the vlunteers wh helped wrap gifts. They raised $ in ttal fr Hrizn Park. There were abut 30 wmen at the LOH garage party at Smkin and it was a great success. Marc Lenard (Assistant Directr) welcmed everyne and thanked them fr cming. Marc talked abut the ride t Hrizn and thanked everyne wh came ut in the cld. He intrduced the new members. He als talked abut the ride he leads every year t the Cherhala Skyway. Spencer Stevensn (Membership) annunced we have ver 200 members in the chapter nw and invite anyne wh may be interested in becming a member t cme t the meetings and t invite thers t cme. Guy Maffett (Editr) asks the new members t prvide him with addresses and Marc phne numbers fr the phne tree. This will insure yu receive phne calls abut upcming events and the newsletter. If yu did nt get yur newsletter please let Guy knw. Guy thanked everyne wh helped with the TFOH. The chapter has given ver $30, fr the flights and we are the tp fund raiser. There will be an additinal 5 flights this year which will prbably be the end f the prgram. Ozzie Schlfield (Activities Directr) Ozzie ask wh had participated in the HOG mileage prgram. He ask wh did the ABC s f turing? Yu get pints fr each city, cunty yu visit. Yu als get pints fr visiting manufacturing facilities f Harley. Bth f the prgrams are free. We will d 6 charitable rides as a club this year. There may be ther rides which are thrugh the dealership. A list was distributed f events fr the riding seasn. A cpy f the infrmatin will be attached. Anyne interested in these rides please let Ozzie knw. Lynn Isenhur - talked abut his turs this year. He brught flyers and psted pictures f previus trips. He encuraged anyne t ask questins if they may be interested in ging. Lee Murray (Safety Officer) said we wuld resume classes when the time changes. He reminded everyne t keep check f yur bikes even in the winter mnths when yu aren t riding. Check ver yur bike after it has sat fr awhile t be sure it will start. Charlie Ball (Hg Talker) talked abut his purchase f heated gear he bught last year because it was n sale. He is selling Rlling Thunder tickets fr $10.00 each t help the veterans. Bruce Tpping (Phtgrapher) said t take pictures n yur rides and send t him. We will get them tgether again this year fr a vide like the ne shwn at the Christmas dinner. Rbert Tayle (Assistant Head Rad Captain) recgnized all f the rad captains and thanked everyne fr all f their help and assistant in Greg Edwards (Head Rad Captain) talked abut the increase in mtrcycle fatalities which are almst 30% higher in 2010 frm He reminded everyne January 22nd and 23rd is the Easy Rider shw in Charltte. Bill Tabrn will lead his annual Plar Ride at a date t be determined. Stevie ask fr General discussins Bb Prueller thanked everyne fr the funds given t him that were raised frm the chili ck ff. He really appreciated it. Curtney is ging t lead a ride t Rlling Thunder again this year. 3 Winstn-Salem H.O.G. Mnthly Jurnal 2011 Mn. Jan 3 rd There was a full huse at the first W-S H.O.G. Chapter meeting f Wed. Jan. 19 th 11 peple attended the first Ladies f Harley meeting f 2011 held at Freebrne s. (Please read Cassandra Rauhauser s stry n the L.O.H. page.) Sat. Jan. 29 th The 2011 riding seasn fficially began with the Plar Bear Ride. Rbert Tayle & Bruce Tpping rganized and led 31 bikes with 37 riders frm Smkin H-D at 8:45 a.m. n a 39 mile ride t Stkesdale and back t Kernersville. They gathered at the Olympic Restaurant where everyne enjyed the fd & fellwship. The January thaw gt up t 58º n Saturday and 61º n Sunday. (Please see stry submitted by Rbert Tayle.) Our Sunday rides will begin next mnth. We will be cutting back n ur charity rides this year, s that mre time can be spent ding recreatinal riding & vernight trips. Our cntinued thanks ges ut t Smkin H-D wh has prvided us with a meeting rm, ffice & cnference rm. We have plenty f rm fr grwth and have a wnderful wrk space fr the Officers & Rad Captains t run business efficiently behind the scenes. I wuld like t thank all f yu fr yur participatin & invlvement in this Chapter. T thse f yu wh have sld raffle tickets ver the years - the mney prfited frm the raffles is what has kept the Chapter ging. Nrmal everyday expenses can be cvered; we can cntinue t give t ur lcal charities and rganize fun activities fr the members & their families. A special thanks ges ut t the Officers & Rad Captains fr sharing their knwledge & experience and fr all the many hurs they spend wrking t make this Chapter the best it can be. The Officers & I make all f the decisins n hw t best serve this Chapter. Decisins are unanimusly made n everything - frm the activities we d, the charities we participate in, t the mney we spend. The mney in ur accunts belngs t the Chapter as a whle. The Officers have decided that we will infrm the Chapter when ver $500 is spent. Yu are entitled at any time t review ur financial reprts. If yu ever have any questins r cncerns, feel free t see me. The larger amunts f mney we spent last year were fr the Freedm Memrial Wall t be mved and the furniture fr the new ffice and cnference rm. Steven Cle Directr inf@stevenclebuilders.cm Plar Bear Ride On Sat 1/29/11 the air was chilled but it did nt stp the determined riders t brave the cld air n ur first ride f the year. Upn my arrival at the Smkin parking lt it was full f bikes, 31 in all with 37 riders. At 9am we fired up the bikes and the air was filled with burning cbwebs, new bikes heating the new engines frm the winter s wait t ride. Departed Smkin and the ride was great as we rlled thrugh lights with ease and winded ur way thrugh the scenic Belews Creek Rad t Hwy 65 thru Stkesdale t Haw River Rad. We then prceeded t curvey Pumpkin Ridge Rad t Piney Grve Rad int big K-Vegas. Twisting thrugh Linvile Springs Rad nt Dbsn Rad ver t West Muntain Street t ur much needed breakfast at the Olympic Family restaurant. 5 LOH f Winstn-Salem wants t thank everyne wh is helping make the re-emergence f this imprtant segment f ur Chapter a great success. Remember, LOH activities are pen t all H.O.G. members bth riders and passenger, men and wmen, and we encurage the participatin f yur families as well. Riding seasn is fast appraching. This is the time f year t check and make sure yur mtrcycle and all f yur riding gear is prepared fr warm spring days and safe riding. LOH Evening Out. On January 19 th LOH held anther fun Evening Out event. Our grwing grup met again at Freebrne s Suth fr fd, drink and scializing with ther members. We were hnred t have ne f ur new chapter members make this LOH gathering her first lcal H.O.G. event. While fun and entertaining, LOH used this time t start game planning new ideas fr rides and events which we will use t assist the missins f ur H.O.G. Chapter. This small grup came up with sme big ideas; hwever, we are still pen t mre. The hard wrk f cntinued planning, rganizing and pulling ff sme f these events is still in frnt f us. Cme ut and jin us, it will be rewarding and fun. The Challenge Getting a late start in 2010, LOH raised ver $200 by gift wrapping Christmas presents fr Smkin Harley Davidsn s custmers during the hliday seasn. The mnies raised were dnated t buy Christmas presents fr Children at Hrizns Park. Anyne wh has ever visited this facility recgnizes just hw wrthy f a cause Hrizn Park is. LOH has raised the bar fr what we hpe t dnate t these children in A challenging yet attainable gal f $1, is what LOH hpes t raise thrugh multiple fund raisers and events this year. FREEDOM.
