This will be available at registratin and the night f rehearsal. If there are any questins regarding the cntent f the cntract prir t registratin please cntact the Directr (cntact infrmatin n page 3). Pageant is pen t residents f Nrth Carlina and Suth Carlina NC Yam Festival Ryalty will nt have an all-expenses paid reign. It is up t the queens t prvide everything themselves (cars fr parades, entry fees fr parades unless therwise nted, clthing, shirts, signs, etc). We will strive t make sure yu save as much mney as pssible. We hpe yu understand and if there are any questins abut expenses please feel free t ask! Awards Given: Divisin Winners receive a rhinestne rund crwn, embridered satin sash, trphy, & gift. Baby Petite will als receive a rhinestne tiara). Overall Casual wear, Interview and Talent winners will receive a trphy. Optinal Phtgenic winner will receive a trphy. The 2017 Yam Festival Queen and Teen will als be invited t attend the Carlina Dgwd Festival in Statesville (held in April 2018) and the NC Rhddendrn Festival in Bakersville (held in June 2018). These events are nt mandatry but ffered t reigning Queen and Teen and des require either the Pageant Directr and/r parent as chapernes. It is VITAL & HIGHLY IMPORTANT fr the winners t attend the fllwing events listed, if there are any changes yu will be ntified as sn as pssible by the directr. The NC Yam Festival Pageant Cmmittee will d everything they can t minimize the cst f the required parades, but there may be sme small cst required by the cntestants. As a queen yu will be representing the twn f Tabr City and the NC Yam Festival and it is yur duty t be a symbl f the twn and its festivities as well as lcal festivals and events. 1. NC Yam Festival Taste f Tabr ( Thursday, Octber 26, 2017, 6-10pm) (Lcatin TBA & ONLY the 2017 Ryalty s ticket will be paid fr) 2. NC Yam Festival Parade line 10:00 am (Saturday, Octber 28th - (flat prvided) 3. Tabr City Christmas Parade - line 5:00pm (Thursday, Nvember 30) - (car needed) 4. NC Strawberry Festival, parade & pageant (Saturday, May, TBA) (flat prvided) - parade 1:00pm & 6:30 pm at West Clumbus High Schl 5. NC Watermeln Festival, parade & pageant (Saturday, July TBA) (car needed) - Parade 10 am & 6:30pm at West Clumbus High Schl ~ If necessary we will have meetings, hwever it is hard fr everyne t get tgether. 2 2017 NC Yam Festival Ryalty will be asked t keep a scrap bk f their appearances, list f cmmunity service, ther pageant visits, parade appearances etc. These will be n view the fllwing year and will als qualify ne 2017 queen the chance t reign n the 2018 curt as Ambassadr (chsen by directr accrding t mst events attended/participated in). NOTE: This is nt a HIGH Glitz event! This is a cmmunity fcused pageant. Therefre, n full fake hair, n fake nails, n fake teeth, n excessive makeup, etc. If yu have questins r cncerns regarding this please let me knw. The judges will be ntified f the rules and regulatins f this pageant als and deductins in pints will be made accrdingly by their discretin. REQUIRED!!! ALL Cntestants will be shwcased in the Opening Number, this is nt a judged event but it is imprtant t make a gd first impressin n the judges, by shwing yur stage presence, etc. Each cntestant is required t wear lng blue jeans, matching shes (n flip flps and yu must wear shes) and the Nrth Carlina Yam Festival T-Shirt (sld at the Tabr City Library). Additinal embellishments are up t the cntestants, but nt required Required Areas f Cmpetitin: Fr Baby Petite: Casual Wear (40%) & Beauty (60%) Fr Little Queen: Interview (40%), Talent (30%), & Beauty (30%) Fr Mrs.: Interview (40%), Casual Wear (30%), & Beauty (30%) Optinal Areas: Phtgenic is $ Phtgenic (pen t all cntestants), PHOTOGENIC: Either black and white r clr. N HIGH GLITZ pictures allwed, hwever tuchups are allwed. This ptinal is cmpletely up t the cntestant, yu may d a picture bk, picture bard, decrative item with pictures n it, r whatever yu chse. It will be judged n presentatin and pictures. There will be tw awards given, Baby-Petite divisins & then Little Mrs. divisins (SEE LAST PAGE FOR PICUTURE EXAMPLES) INTERVIEW: Fr Little-Mrs. Divisins nly. Little-Yung Miss cntestant will each meet with the judges fr 3 minutes and Teen-Mrs. Cntestants will each meet with the judges fr 5 minutes. Make sure utfit is age apprpriate. Fr Little & Junir divisins Sunday dress is accepted but nt restricted t, pant/skirt suit is als accepted; fr Yung Mrs. divisins skirt/pant suit/dressy attire is highly recmmended! CASUAL WEAR: Fr Baby-Petite & Mrs. nly: Dress age apprpriate, dressy, neat and stylish, making sure utfit fits prperly. N mid-drift shwing, if s pints will be deducted! Can either be custm made r ff the rack. Embellishments are highly recmmended. N theme requirement! TALENT: Fr Little-Queen divisins nly: CD s nly allwed, all music must be cued and nly ne sng per CD. Please d nt let talent exceed 4 minutes! CD s shuld be marked with cntestant name, divisin, & cntestant number. CD s must be turned in the night f rehearsal t assure that all CD s wrk with the sund equipment and the persn ding the sund will be respnsible fr them. Make sure t have a backup CD the night f rehearsal and the pageant! BEAUTY: Divisins Baby & Mini shuld have Sunday dress attire, with matching scks and shes, glitz pageant dresses NOT recmmended. Tiny & Petite Divisin must have a shrt dress with matching shes & scks, can be glitzy. Little Miss Divisin may have shrt r flr length pageant dress, must have matching shes & scks if shrt. Divisins Junir Mrs. must have flr length dress. Pageant dresses may be as glitzy as yu like, but please be age apprpriate! Make sure all dresses fit and cmpliment the cntestant. Schlarship Recipients: Applies ONLY t the Teen & Queen Winners. Teen will receive $250 & Queen will receive $750. This will be received in the frm f a check after they have cmpleted their year f reign as lng as they did nt enter anther pageant withut permissin, attended all required events unless excused by directr, and did nt shw any unnecessary demeanr during the year. Birthdate Rules: The cntestant s age must be s the date f the pageant and the age they are that date determines the categry they will be in the night f the pageant. If there are any questins r cncerns please ask. PLEASE BE HONEST!! Grace Perid: This pageant is pen t any cntestant whether yu have a title r nt, hwever, if yu win yu will nt be allwed t run in anther pageant (and still be able t carry the NC Yam Festival Title) unless the pageant date is within 60 days f the NC Yam Festival Pageant and special permissin is given by the directr. PLEASE REPSECT THIS! DETAILS LISTED IN MORTALITY CONTRACT! Scre Sheets: They will be released after the pageant t the cntestants. These are given back t make enhancements, nt t be cmpared t everyne else s scres. They shuld be taken as a tl t help yu imprve in the areas the judges saw necessary. If returning the scre sheets becmes as issue we will discntinue this. The judge s scres are final!

3 THERE ARE NO CASH PRIZES FOR CONTESTANTS OTHER THAN SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS Cntestants and/r parents are nt allwed t apprach the judges at any time during the pageant. Infrmatin n whm r hw many are cmpeting in any age grup will nt be disclsed by the directr until the newspaper release r the night f rehearsal. Phtgenic pictures, talent CDS, and scre sheets can be picked up after the pageant at the auditrs table after crwning.

4 REGISTRATION/PAGEANT APPLICATION DEADLINE: TBA (Registratin will be 4:00 pm at the Tabr City Visitrs Center if yu want t hand-deliver yur applicatin and if yu have any questins. This is nt a meeting, just a chance fr yu t ask questins and hand-deliver yur applicatin. FINAL DEADLINE IS MIDNIGHT! PAGEANT REHEARSAL: Thursday, Octber 6:30 pm - Suth Clumbus High Schl Cntestant numbers will be given ut (Yu are respnsible fr this, there will be n extras!!!) Each cntestant will receive a prgram f the pageant A schedule f interviews will be given Cntestants will receive 2 parent passes; (Hairdressers may cme t d hair befre pageant and will nt be charged as lng as they are gne befre the pageant begins. If they plan n helping yu thrughut the pageant they will need a pass. If there is nly ne parent then the hairdresser may use it. Bttm line Hairdresser/backstage help must have a pass! Please feel free t ask if there are any questins abut this!) There will be a run thrugh f pageant, allwing cntestants t walk the stage and perfrm talent. (Bring talent music t make sure it wrks n the system, make sure t have extra cpies fr rehearsal & the night f the pageant) PAGEANT DAY: Saturday Octber 21st, 2017 Drs will pen at 2:00pm Turn in Phtgenic entries by 3:00 pm NOTE: Side dr will be lcked at all times. NO ONE is t enter r exit here unless it is an EMERGENCY. Everyne must enter and exit thrugh schl s main entrance. There will be smene mnitring this area. Cntestant numbers shuld be wrn n the left side at waist area if at all pssible, fr each area f cmpetitin except talent! Interviews fr Little-Mrs. will begin at SCHS (A schedule will be given ut the night f rehearsal s yu can better prepare) Pageant will 6:00pm Admissin is $8, prgram included Please mail cmpleted Cntestant Applicatin, Cmpetitin Sheet with ttal (make sure bttm f paper is signed as well), a wallet size pht f cntestant, & Fees t: Suzette Lenard 140 Lake Tabr Drive.
