Cmpetitrs must ride at the level f the mst inexperienced rider i.e. If ne rider is cmpeting in Medium and the ther in Nvice, then the cmbinatin wuld cmpete at Nvice level. FEI CODE OF CONDUCT FOR THE WELFARE OF THE HORSE The Fédératin Equestre Internatinale (FEI) requires all thse invlved in internatinal equestrian sprt t adhere t the FEI s Cde f Cnduct and t acknwledge and accept that at all times the welfare f the hrse must be paramunt and must never be subrdinated t cmpetitive r cmmercial influences. 1. At all stages during the preparatin and training f cmpetitin hrses, welfare must take precedence ver all ther demands. This includes gd hrse management, training methds, farriery and tack, and transprtatin. 2. Hrses and cmpetitrs must be fit, cmpetent and in gd health befre they are allwed t cmpete. This encmpasses medicatin use, surgical prcedures that threaten welfare r safety, pregnancy in mares and the misuse f aids. 3. Events must nt prejudice hrse welfare. This invlves paying careful attentin t the cmpetitin areas, grund surfaces, weather cnditins, stabling, site safety and fitness f the hrse fr nward travel after the event. 4. Every effrt must be made t ensure that hrses receive prper attentin after they have cmpeted and that they are treated humanely when their cmpetitin careers are ver. This cvers prper veterinary care, cmpetitin injuries, euthanasia and retirement. 5. The FEI urges all thse invlved in equestrian sprt t attain the highest pssible levels f educatin in their areas f expertise relevant t the care and management f the cmpetitin hrse. Page 3

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY The 2018 Australian Yuth Dressage Champinships will be cnducted in accrdance with the current editin f EA Dressage Cmpetitin Rules effective 1/1/2018 including amendments and the FEI Rules fr Dressage Cmpetitrs are t be aware f the Rules. The nus is n riders t knw the rules under which they cmpete remembering that the 2018 rules will cme int effect n 1 January. 1. Membership and Hrse Registratin: Riders must be current Cmpetitive members f EA and Hrses/Pnies must be registered and wners must be either a Cmpetitive, Participant r Supprter member. Participatin & Interschl classes: Riders must have minimum Participatin membership. Hrses d nt need t be registered but will be subject t an identity check if selected fr randm swabbing. 2. Australian Yuth Dressage Champinships - Age: Fr EA Preliminary t Advanced this event is pen t riders 8 years and up t the end f the calendar year they turn 21 n pnies r riders 10 years and up t the end f the calendar year they turn 21 n hrses. Cmpetitrs must be aware f Rule 1.12 a Junir f the apprpriate age may enter and cmpete in EA FEI Junir and EA FEI Yung Rider cmpetitins prviding they ride a different hrse in each cmpetitin. 3. Height: Hrses exceeding 149cm with shes, 148cm withut shes, Pnies nt exceeding 149cm with shes. 4. Stallins: Stallins are welcme t cmpete at this event hwever they must be kept under cntrl by a cmpetent persn at all times when either ridden r led. Stallins must be led with a bit r chain in additin t their head cllar. Stallins may nt be tied t the utside f a truck r trailer but must be stabled r hused in a truck/trailer. Any stallin nt cnsidered t be in cntrl by the Organising Cmmittee (OC) will be eliminated frm the event. Stallin Green Discs must be displayed at all times n saddleclths, halters. & stables. 5. All riders and handlers are reminded that any hrse can be dangerus s please give all hrses and pnies enugh rm t pass safely whether yu are leading r riding. Please be cnsiderate f all riders and handlers and fllw the rules f the arena whilst wrking hrses; that is if yu are walking stay twards the middle track in the arena, if yu need t stp r check yur gear mve t the middle f the arena r leave the arena; pass riders cming in the ppsite directin left shulder t left shulder. If yu pass a rider in the same directin allw at least 5 m width. Please lk arund yu at all times and try t be aware f thers riding r walking past. Many peple unintentinally frighten r distract hrses by ging t clse r by mving t quickly; it is everyne's rle t ensure the safety f thers. 6. Eligibility: The qualifying perid is the 12 mnths preceding the clsing date f entries. i.e.11/12/16 18/12/17. Please nte perfrmances must have been gained in Official Cmpetitive cmpetitins. Interschl perfrmances will nly be accepted as qualifying scres, as lng as they fllw the requirements f the Cmpetitive Judge Table (Rule 3.21) and the rider was a Cmpetitive member at the time. One HC (Hrs Cncurs) result in an fficial cmpetitive cmpetitin nly will cunt as a qualificatin. All riders must submit their hrse s best three perfrmances in Official Cmpetitive at the apprpriate level, between 11/12/16 t 18/12/2017. See abve regarding the minimum perfrmance requirement. Perfrmances can be checked & verified n the Equestrian Australia website: 8. At least ne qualifying scre MUST have been btained by the nminated hrse/rider cmbinatin (refer rule 8.2) 9. Hrses r pnies may cmpete in tw (2) cnsecutive levels. Fr example, preliminary/nvice, medium/advanced. They may cmpete in three (3) tests nly per day, which may include a freestyle test. 10. Hrse and pnies that enter the EA FEI level tests can nly cmpete in tw levels per day which may include a freestyle. 11. Ranking (ballting) will be based n the average f the highest percentage f three tests at the particular level, in the 12 mnths preceding the clse f entries. Riders wh submit 3 perfrmances (nly ne f which may be HC) will be cnsidered ahead f thse wh submit ne r tw perfrmances. If ballting ccurs, preference will be given t Cmpetitive scres. 12. Draw: Cmpetitins are limited t 35 cmpetitrs. The draw will be psted n the cmpetitin website. The OC reserves the right t rank hrses if necessary. A revised draw may be necessary the day befre the cmpetitin t allw fr withdrawals. The nus is n the cmpetitr t cnfirm/check their start times the day befre the cmpetitin. In the event that Natinal level cmpetitins are versubscribed all reserve riders entered int Preliminary r Nvice classes will be placed int the crrespnding Participatin level class (and receive a refund f the balance f the entry fee) Ranked reserve riders will be ntified if a place in the Natinal class becmes available. Please advise if yu d nt wish t be autmatically placed in the Participatin classes if ballted ut f the Cmpetitive classes. 13. Perfrmance: All riders must submit their best three perfrmances in an Official Test at the apprpriate level during the qualifying perid 11/12/16 t 18/12/17. See abve fr minimum perfrmance requirement. If the result fr a perfrmance has nt been entered n the perfrmance card (e.g. an unplaced perfrmance), then evidence (i.e. a cpy f the fficial results sheet) must accmpany the entry t substantiate the perfrmance 14. Cmpetitrs cannt ride HC at this event 15. Callers. As this is a champinship event NO callers are allwed (participatin & interschl classes excluded) 16. Bridle numbers (Identificatin number) must be wrn at all times when the hrse is utside its stable. Please ensure yu have tw sets f numbers, ne n the hrse s bridle r saddleclth (n bth sides) fr cmpetitin and ne n the halter when taking hrse ut f the stable fr walking/hsing dwn etc. Please include yur allcated bridle number n the entry frm. In the case f duplicatin f numbers, the OC will allcate a temprary # fr this event nly. 17. Entries: All entries t See page 9 fr details 18. Late entries, faxed entries and phne entries will nt be accepted. 19. Scratchings, Withdrawals and Refunds: Withdrawals. These must be ntified t the OC at least 24 hurs befre the actual day f cmpetitin t admin@vydc.cm.au r txt t Entry fees will nt be refunded after the clsing date f entries unless the rider has ntified the OC as abve and a medical r veterinary certificate is prduced within 7 days f the cmpletin f the event, submitted t Yuth Dressage Event Directr, PO Bx 616, Werribee, VIC In such cases, 50% f the entry fees will be retained by the O.C. Entry fees will be refunded in full fr scratchings befre the clsing date and fr riders n the reserve list wh are nt ffered a start in a cmpetitin r wh indicate that they d nt wish t cmpete in the Participatin classes. Medicatin Cntrl: This event will be run under current EA Equine Anti Dping and Cntrlled Medicatin Regulatins (2010 and amendments) and the Equestrian Australia Natinal Medicatin Cntrl Plicy. If yu have any queries abut these rules please the EV Branch Medicatin Cntrl Officer at 21. In cnsideratin f acceptance f yur entry and participatin in the event, yu agree t indemnify and keep indemnified EA, EV, their servants and agents and the Organising Cmmittee and each member theref against all claims, prceedings r demands brught by r n behalf f any participant r cmpetitr named in yur entry frm fr any lss r damage hwsever arising frm any accident r incident ccurring at the event 22. Warming-up/ exercising: All riders must wear an apprved (2017) safety helmet while munted. Yu are reminded that nly the rider entered in the champinships is allwed t ride the hrse. A grm may ride the hrse at a walk n a lng rein nly. All hrses must be saddled and be ridden in a bridle during any munted exercise r cmpetitin warm-up. Please d nt ride in the camping area. Nte all hrses must wear their bridle number when ut f the stable (ridden, n either side f the hrse, r led). Outdr arenas will be available fr use prir t the cmpetitin. Mre infrmatin will be cntained in the entry infrmatin which will be sent t riders. Cmpetitrs will have access t cmpetitin arenas fr familiarisatin at set times. 23. Saddlery and Equipment As per current EA Dressage Rules 2018 including amendments. Nte: EA levels up t and including Advanced a whip must nt exceed 1.2m in its entirety. Pny riders may nly use a whip nt exceeding 1.0 m in length. Whips may nt be carried in any FEI level test. Apprved hard hats must be wrn at all times when training, warming up r cmpeting at this event. Current safety apprved headgear: refer Rule 2.2. Riders 18 years and lder and wh are riding hrses/pnies that are seven (7) years and lder (age as at natural birthday) may wear a tp hat/bwler/hunt cap instead f an apprved safety helmet. Hwever, this exceptin is limited t the actual Cmpetitin and the warm-up directly prir t the Cmpetitin (with n break befre the Cmpetitin), which includes riding between the stable and the designated warm-up area, riding f the cmpeting hrse in the designated warm-up area, and riding back t the stable. Nte: the OC strngly recmmends that ALL riders wear an apprved safety helmet at all times fr their wn safety. 24. Gear check: All riders must check the current EA Rules fr Dressage fr saddlery and equipment. A gear check is required befre every test (in sme cases this will be dne at the cmpletin f the test at ringside). Please arrive at the final warm up arena at least 10 minutes befre yu are due t ride. 25. Lunging: Lunging is nly permitted in the designated lunge rings. Under n circumstances are hrses t be lunged in any ther area. 26. Presentatins: will take place at the end f the day r at the cmpletin f each cmpetitin (depending n the daily schedule). A presentatin schedule will be psted n the ntice bard at the Event Office area; the scring area at the start f the champinships. It is cmpulsry fr all placegetters t be present in cmpetitin dress at prize giving. 27. Champin/Reserve: Champin and Reserve fr each level will be determined by using EA Dressage rule The Champin and Reserve Champin hrse/pny will be required (bridled but nt munted) fr presentatin 28. Vlunteers: Please nte all riders will be given jbs t d during the event, which will include, pencilling, gear checking, marshalling and test cllecting. There will be a jb list n the web befre the event. Yu will need t make sure that yu are aware f yur jbs befre the event; jbs will be allcated arund rider s times in the draw. 30. Freestyles: All hrses must achieve a minimum scre f 58% in the qualifying test t be eligible t start in the freestyle. In the unlikely event f a rider nt qualifying, they will receive a refund fr their freestyle entry. 31. Prtests and Appeals: Objectins must be in writing and accmpanied by a depsit fee f $ (refer EA Gen. Regs. Art. 163/165/166). Attentin is drawn t Rule 1.5 f EA Dressage Rules. 32. Music fr Freestyles: Please submit yur music via the nline submissin system n later than 16 January 2018 t ensure it is received in time fr the event. The file name shuld include the name f the hrse, rider and level f the freestyle. The event freestyle submissin page can be fund at: MP3 r WAV files are preferred. It is recmmended that yu have a backup available. 33. In Freestyles nly the mvements up t and included in the current tests at the level being ridden may be shwn. There are certain mvements that are cmpulsry fr each level f Freestyle. Please check the EA rule bk fr these mvements. Time Allwed please refer t specific freestyle test sheets 34. Pas de Deux -Cstume is ptinal but shuld reflect a theme. Bts and apprved safety helmet must be wrn. N qualificatins are required. 35. Freestyle music check times will be allcated after the finalisatin f the freestyle draw. Cmpetitr times will be allcated by the OC and psted at event ffice. Onus is n the rider t check their times. This Equestrian Victria (EV) event is gverned by the Equestrian Australia (EA) General Regulatins, applicable EA Sprts Rules and all relevant EA Cdes, plicies, bylaws, rules and regulatins. If the event is cnducted at Werribee Park Natinal Equestrian Centre (WPNEC) the WPNEC Risk Management Cnditins shall apply t the event. Entrants and Cmpetitrs must familiarise themselves with the prvisins f the EA dcuments referred t abve (EA dcuments) and ensure that they cmply with them. 9. By submitting an entry fr the event yu agree t cmply with and be bund by the prvisins f the EA dcuments, these Special Cnditins and the Cnditins f Entry. 10. If yu are the parent r guardian f a participant r cmpetitr under the age f 18 years, by submitting an entry fr the event yu cnsent t their participatin in the event and undertake t the best f yur ability t ensure that they understand and cmply with the prvisins f the EA dcuments, these Special Cnditins and The Cnditins f Entry. 11. If there is any cnflict in the interpretatin between the prvisins f the General Regulatins and any f the EA dcuments, these Special Cnditins r the Cnditins f Entry, the General Regulatins will take precedence. The Organising Cmmittee fr the event is referred t in the Cnditins f Entry. The Organising Cmmittee may at its abslute discretin, decline t receive any entry r return any fee withut being liable fr any cmpensatin: General Regulatin, Article The Organising Cmmittee s decisin in relatin t any entry fr the event shall be final and binding. Cancellatin and Refund 13. EV r the Organising Cmmittee may cancel the event due t catastrphic cnditins, disease r frce majeure, r fr any ther reasn at its abslute discretin. 14. If the event is cancelled after it has cmmenced there will be n refunds. If the event is cancelled prir t cmmencement the entrant may be entitled t a prprtinal refund f the entry fees paid. Any such refund will be determined at the abslute discretin f EV, having regard t the direct r fixed csts fr the event. 15. Entrants wh have prvided with their entry an address and/r mbile phne number will be ntified f event cancellatin by and/r text message. 16. Yu acknwledge that hrse riding, wrking with r being arund hrses can be dangerus. Hrses can act in sudden and unpredictable ways, especially if frightened r hurt. As a cnsequence, there is a real risk f damage t prperty, serius injury r even death. In cnsideratin f acceptance f yur entry and participatin in the event yu agree t release and frever discharge EA, EV, their servants and agents and the Organising Cmmittee and each member theref frm all claims, prceedings r demands fr any lss r damage hwsever arising frm any accident r incident ccurring at the event.
