ROSTER MOVE--The Royals yesterday settled on their back-up catching situation by recalling Erik Kratz from his injury rehab assignment with Omaha and designating him for assignment...the move took him off the 40-man roster and allowed Drew Butera to remain with the big league club as the reserve receiver...kratz, who joined the Royals last July 28 in a trade with Toronto, was shelved on May 6 (retroactive to May 4) with plantar fasciitis and once healthy was assigned to the Storm Chasers where he played in 15 games and hit.214 (12-for-56)...the Royals now have 39 player on their 40-man roster. INTERLEAGUE SUCCESS--Tonight resumes play for the Royals against National League competition, with the club going 5-2 to this point vs. Cincinnati (2-0), St. Louis (2-1) and the Cubs (1-1)...Kansas City was a Major League best and set a club record by going 15-5 against the N.L. last year when play was centered around the N.L. West...tonight kicks off a stretch of seven in a row vs. the N.L. Central with a 4-game home & home series vs. the Brewers starting on Monday in Miller Park. PITCHERS AT THE DISH--The return to Interleague play has seen KC pitchers go 0-for-5 to this point swinging the bat in 2015, with Edinson Volquez hitless in two tries and tonight s starter, Yordano Ventura, 0-for-3 in Wrigley...Ventura is 1-for-7 in his career, picking up a single and scoring a run when the Royals played in San Diego a season ago...since the advent of Interleague play in 1997, KC hurlers are hitting.126 (46-for-366) with one home run when Zack Greinke went deep on June 10, 2005 at Arizona. NED CLOSING IN ON WHITEY--The second winningest manager in franchise history with 407, Ned Yost is now just three wins shy of the franchise record of 410, set by Royals Hall of Famer Whitey Herzog from Yost, now since taking the role on May 13, 2010, passed Dick Howser for the #2 spot with Monday s win...already the all-time leader in games managed in Kansas City with 832, Yost took the reigns in Kansas City on May 13, this is Ned s second stint as a big league manager after nearly six years at the helm for the Milwaukee Brewers ( )...he compiled a record with the Brew Crew including a mark in his last two seasons. BRIEF OUTING VS. RANGERS--Yordano looks to rebound from an abbreviated afternoon at home against Texas last Saturday, dropping a 4-2 decision...he worked a season-low 3.0 innings allowing six hits and four runs while needing 78 pitches to navigate through his day...a 35-pitch first inning was the major contributor, as Texas plated a pair of runs in the first and then two more in the second...ventura had worked 7.0 innings in each of his last four starts leading up to last Saturday...the outing was the second-shortest of his career as he went 2.2 innings on May 26, 2014 against Houston.
